Typically, gacha game would powercreep the shit out of everything, to the point the 1.0 characters become useless.
Mihoyo decided to fuck that trend, and do the exact opposite, make 1.0 characters broken to high heavens, and release weaker and weaker character afterwards WHILE making A TON more money than anybody who go the powercreep mode. Clearly mihoyo was doing something right with this model. /s

I actually did find a use case for Dori in a Eula team, for battery purposes, which the slot was with Raiden before. In terms of damage, I cant really say if it had improved (it probably did not), but it felt a little more comfortable with Dori instead, since the rotation became from switching between Eula and Raiden as on field dps to only Eula as on field dps. Plus, freeing up Raiden from that spot is kind of an overall win too.
1 thing to Candace: She is one if not the cheapest character to build. Black tassel, no need to upgrade a single talent if all you want is the damage bonus, hp gobbler.
The fun fact is that these overpowered 4*s actually took some time to get into the meta. I don't think I ever heard anyone saying Bennett is good until 1.2
hoyo should have nerfed Bennett/xq/xl/fischl when they had the chance and now it's too late.Cause of these 4 characters now every new character both 4 and 5 star rarity has to suffer.

after looking at the leaks Layla is LITERALLY DIONA but like 10 times worse, she has a cryo shield and a cryo applying burst but obviously being a sumeru 4 star they suck
Candace is a nice DPS charecter for a fun playstyle and also she is one of the few with counter mechanism like Beidou. Some people enjoy it.
But it's too niche
Personally it really pisses me off how weak new 4 stars are, their art design and animations are top notch, I really want to use them, but there is no point as it's like shooting yourself in the foot.
I'm one of the people that really hates the design of XL, XQ and Bennet for example, and i despise the way Fischl speaks (i know why she does since i did the summer event, but it's still annoying), but i will always use them since they are so powerful and there really is no alternative.
I'm hoping XL,XQ and Bennet get cool costumes at least, as i really cant stand how XQ looks, sheesh give the poor kid normal pants, he looks like a catholic priests wet dream :/
Final patch of Genshin will have a 4 star that buffs enemies based on total crit of your team instead.
I think hoyo feels backed into a corner: they don’t want to power creep because they want to sell older units forever…….but they feel liked they already made some things too good because we are beating the only thing they had in mind for end game with people not feeling they need to whale. So they are diluting the four star pool with duds it feels to try and make newer players have a harder time getting the meta four stars….::but then they sell it to you directly in shop anyway and give you xianling for free lmao…..so they only need to look up who is worth buying and see in shop to grab one copy from time to time. The five stars feel more and more designed to not be worth it c0 for long time players but have massive spikes with more copies. Likely to try and get ftp players to miss more five stars without spending to get something worthwhile or waste it on units not as strong as they have now. As a long time whale I don’t get anything unless it looks fun or something I lack which isn’t much .
I dont see a problem in 4* being more weak then Xiangling in general but they need to better in one domain. Gorou,Rosaria are good exemple of well balance character in geo team Gorou is litteraly the most important even more then the dps himself and in freeze Rosaria give you a nice balance betwen dps,battery,cryo application so yeah some chara like Dori a useless but i think overall mihoyo is trying not to make some weak but specalise sometime their too specalise and you get dori, diona(she is ok but meh at the same time) specalise in something useless candace. So its just up to mihoyo to get the prefect line in betwen like Gorou,Rosaria
Sneznahay's 4 stars: remove the element applied to the enemy
Mihoyo generally does not seem to care about team building. My mains are Xiao, Raiden, Yae, Cyno. As you mentioned Xiao is still waiting for a "great" support. Yae got changed because she sucks at C0, which backfired and they reverted that change. Guess what, she still sucks but nobody cares anymore. I mean… I pulled for her and her weapon and she is basically worthless for the abyss. There is just always a team or even character in a team that is straight up better. I stopped playing Genshin until this week because of her. I came back to look at the Chasm and Sumeru just now and did a few pulls. I got Qiqi and Cyno in a ten pull. Now I am leveling Cyno because I didn't prepare anything but I have the feeling, that apart from his gameplay feeling very nice he is kind of lost in terms of teams. Atm I don't regret getting him. I just regret bulling for Yae and her weapon when I could insstead get Raiden C3 or Cyno C2 which would make them work better on their own.
I'm just not sure why people still even care about the meta and focus so much on it. The content is playable even with all the bad units in the game, and maximum optimization for proper speedrun setups still requires you to drop thousands of dollars into the game. Have you guys ever tried having fun? That's free my friends.
C2 collei have a really good dendro application actually
The devs' approach to the game is so weird tbh. IF you gave the players good characters in the first patch, then make hard (but not annoying) content that people would struggle even when they're use. Instead of shafting new characters to the point of unusable. They used to have a "create a problem to sell a solution" approach to gacha characters but now they just have "create a problem; a problem called characters"
I hope so much that Layla is good, but they're making her normal attacks beautiful, AND YOU KNOW WHAT THAT MEANS
I initially thought that the OG 4* strength was on purpose because of thw need for team building back then.
But I dunno now with Collei.
Outside DendroMC, she's our only dendro applicator, shouldn't she had been better to play around the new reaction then?
So I do no longer thing they were made strong for F2P but just so happened to be.
Although among them, some were clearly thought up and its reflected in their cons.
Xingqiu and Fischl were pretty obviously design in their respective role.
Bennett is a bit weird, his kit is meant to be self sufficient to represent the kind of life he has but in a team game allowing him to be everything is insane role compression.
Xiangling seems to have been planned as pyro support going by C6 but she ends as main DPS instead.
Are you intentionally ignoring the fact Candance has a hydro infusion? Or the fact her burst has a quickswap mechanic that deals AoE hydrp damage?
Look im not saying your wrong with the overall message of this video but a universal hydro infuser is something we never had until now, thats her niche not buffing NA's. Is it viable? No not really, chongyun isn't run alot but the fact he exists means we have that option unlocked.

With most of the sumere 4 stars i do agree they are too weak but with collei it makes more sense and thats because she's a free character back at launch we may have gotten decent characters for free but with aloy my expectations for what a free character will be like has decreased dramatically. So i feel like its more understandable that she isnt good .
