How Good Is Genshin's ARTIFACT FAST EQUIP Feature? (Genshin Impact 4.5)

Genshin Impact added an artifact fast equip feature in version 4.4, so I tried it out with a series of tests for both quick configuration and custom configuration. Can this new artifact feature be useful for new players, casual players, or veteran players? Find out in this video. #genshinimpact #hoyocreators #genshin

  1. I think the lesson to take from this, is that using the system is better than not knowing what you’re doing and equipping whatever, but it’s worse than knowing what you’re doing. And to be honest, that’s exactly what it should be, I think expecting it to be as good as having actual gamer knowledge is unrealistic.

  2. It undervalues crit rate, in my experience, yet is more than happy to keep stacking crit damage. I wonder if this might have something to do with most crit weapons essentially being behind a paywall, especially when talking crit rate ones. That this skews the player data it is based on.

Improvement-wise, I'd like the ability to have something between "steal artifacts" and "unused only". Like I'd like to be able to lock a certain character's artifacts, but leave others free to be pillaged.

edit: Oh, seeing you swap Yelan's weapon, that would actually have been another interesting thing to have seen: does what weapon you have equipped change the recommended artifacts?

  3. Imo it is not as bad as people make it out to be. It rarely gives you a better build than the one you have already equipped, but in my experience it generated a full shimenawa set for my wanderer that was actually more effective than mine (2 pc gladiator + 2 pc vv). I mean, it’s an isolated case, but it’s better than nothing.

  4. I like the idea of it especially for new players. I did recommended builds for Star Rail…. but even after playing Genshin for 2 years I struggle with getting good artifacts and don't want to move them around like that. I have some builds that aren't that great but they work. And if I start moving them around they may not work as well lol.

  5. probably the worst thing about this feature is that it takes info from the active players, and as we know, the majority of genshin players are casuals so their builds can be scuffed
like it recommended 4pc emblem for my faruzan for some reason??

  6. I've actually gotten some decent builds generated out of it from custom. the quick equip I just use to slap on artifacts for chars temporarily until I get around to fixing their equips later so i've found it useful. but that's probably because i have a lot of decent artifacts leveled up for it to choose from. and yeah i can see how they could improve it like you said if it can also take weapon stats and bonuses into account and more variables.

i can see why some would want to be able to save set loadouts though if they have a several different builds they're trying out.

  7. My account doesn’t give much room for the algorithm, so the default fast equip gave me my manual build again for Fischl and Lynette. For everything else, it gave me enough artifact quality to beat a weekly boss but probably not all stars on floor 11 Abyss.

(My artifact inventory is low because I foddered almost all of it trying to upgrade artifacts for my AOE teams for this Abyss.)

I know this feature is not for me because I like sorting through gear and stats. (If you’re wondering how that’s possible, I also like city builder games and strategy games which are mainly numbers.) Fast equip would take some of the fun out of it for me.

  8. And now compare it vs first 5 random pieces of gear, possible from 5 different sets even, cause the person who would use this auto-equip thingy most likely gonna have such gear otherwise. If you know about stats and sets you most likely gonna at least google some kind of a guide. I dont get what people want from this thing, also there is a possibility it will be better after few more month when it collects more data.

  9. I don't understand why the community has been able to make an artifact optimizer but they can't implement the same sort of thing in game. I understand the nuances of different builds in different situations, but they could at least give me the best build mathematically against a hilichurl.

  10. It is really good for a new player, at least from my experience.

A lot of times the reason i quit play some gacha games are their unit building, for someone who doesn't catch up with metas its really tedious to figuring out how to make a unit "useable", with something like this even for someone who dont really care about min max nor community metas, it really helps to make their favorite characters useable

  11. Pretty much it feels like the A.I doesn't take account the weapons the characters use nor their activated constellations, they should definitely take that to the table in a new update, it would be better for everyone, new and older players that want to review their builds

  12. I think this new feature is not that great.
The quick select could be useful when new artifacts sets come out to understand which artifacts to level, but there is no player data so it is not useable. On the other hand, the costum select gives a quite good build when the criteria is very specific; at that point I feel like the player already knows enough (about the artificats to level up and the character) make a great build by themselves.

  13. A fun use is to build characters you would never use / just for fun with spare pieces. It's nice to have, specially those pieces that you forgot that existed in your account. But the more you use the characters, the worse it gets…

  14. playing for almost 5 months .. and Im bad with artifacts.. still learning.. and you are correct.. this would help us newbies a looooot! its better than adding trash or irrelevant pieces to your character..

  15. tl dr: It's (Hopefully) the first iteration of this feature and they are (probably) going to improve it over time, but you do need some artifact knowledge to use it correctly, best way to use it is to do quick configuration, select the recommended stats or (the ones you know you need the most) if the build lacks something, or goes beyond adjust accordingly. and lastly check for alternatives to refine those details.

As a developer i can kinda see what they are doing here. First they filter the pieces to match the set, then they filter again to match the "recommended" substat and last they try to find the piece that matches the most substats. Probably after that they see which one is the worst piece and search again but without the set filter. And like we saw with your yoimiya if it doesn't find the full set it just goes rainbow (they should try to do the 2nd recommend instead, but oh well).

Going of on this, the main issue i find, like you said, is the fact that it want to force a set over good pieces, and if you don't have good pieces it's obviously going to give you trash.

Second personally i can't for the live of me get cr on my pieces so i almost always use cr circlet, but since this only takes the most used by other people sometimes it tries to give me a cd circlet and my cr goes down the drain.

Continuing the point above those builds that need er sands if not enough er substats or need em or atk/hp depending of substats/weapon the game doesnt care about that, it just takes the most common, that's probably why yelan doesn't have er sands recommended, cause prolly most ppl use fav on her.

Also (and this wasn't on your test) the algorithm doesn't consider set bonuses, cause i tried on my Neuvillete and it gave me 75+% cr so yeah i would be over capping by more than 10%, prolly the same would happen on a blizzard strayer set.

Lastly, when you searched for alternatives it gave you all the pieces cause you had not selected a set, if you choose a set it will only give you those set pieces (which is also not great if you want to off piece that one instead). And ofc it also just give you the main substat you chose.

nit picking here but at 26:03 and again at the last seconds, you said the AI, but this is just an algorithm not an AI.

I put it on the top but gonna expand it here. The best way to use this would be to use the quick configuration, and either match the recommended set or try the 2pc 2pc you want. Then match the main stats for the recommend or for your specific case (like you have and er weapon and em/atk is better for you, or you know you don't have high cr pieces so you go cr circlet). Once you done that you can see the stats it give you and chance preferences accordingly. If that is not changing enough, you can go to check alternatives and polish it yourself.

  16. It's weird how they added a worse optimizer instead of just doing what people asked for. It would've been a lot easier.
It's also funny that the optimizer added proper loadouts a couple days ago.

  17. Good for newer player. For older player who used to manually arrange artifacts, nah. Nah, I'm not gonna use it. It sucks with balancing stats, especially no feature to balance the stats between characters who use the same type of artifacts
