  1. People have really selective perception. I was on an Animeconvention this year in Germany and was disappointed for the lack of Genshin. There definitely was Genshin stuff but I only bought two things. Most of the stuff was MHA or JJK and other stuff I don't know, because I didn't watch anime for years. 😂

  2. I don't really see why this is a problem. I mean, there was a time when conventions were dominated by League cosplays and merch, and if we pedal back even further you'll recall how conventions were once dominated by WoW cosplays. It's a cycle. There will be certain eras where a particular fanbase will be prominent. Genshin is in its last straws and it will eventually die out soon, and it's only a matter of time for it be replaced by something that will be as popular.

  3. Tbf, google trend is not a good shot to gauge something's popularity.
Like, back in the day when I was still playing MMO, I usually searched it how to clear a raid or some minor tricks, etc.
But for Genshin and HSR, the total amount of time that I've searched them up can be counted in 10 fingers because there is nothing search about, except a few incredibly hard puzzles. Most of Genshin's players are casual so they likely won't even do anything outside of playing it.
If you want have a better gauge, try to do a research about registered account, estimated active players across the globe or official media's subscriber count. You may find that Genshin is actually insanely huge.

  4. That Google trend comparison is NOT accurate; for one thing, China does not use Google AT ALL, to the point where it's essentially defuncted there. To a lesser extent, probably Korea as well. Genshin makes more money in China alone than it does the entire rest of the world, and it still makes 1-1.5 billion a year in the rest of the world. Also, IMO, Genshin is a much more casual and less sweaty game, which does not lend itself to being searched for info as much as a game like WoW is.

Case in point, Dungeon Fighter Online supposedly has had MORE players and makes MORE money than WoW from as far as 2004, but it doesn't show up on Google Trends AT ALL cuz like 80% of the player base is in China, and 20% is in South Korea. Honor of Kings, the current highest grossing game IN THE ENTIRE WORLD and claims to have 100 million daily players, also does not show up on Google Trends AT ALL cuz 99.99% of it's player base is in China.

  5. We went from Gokufest, to OnePiecefest, to Narutofest, to AoTfest, to MHAfest, but now when it's Genshinfest it's suddenly a problem :^)
Let this be a reminder to everyone that if you like something, and you want it to prosper: support the creators!

  6. I think that google trends graph is very deceptive, if you look at the player count, its very healthy for a 3 year game, so is its income (tho admittedly the income isnt as high as other months, its still the top earner).

  7. The fact that people hate genshin so much ( I bet that people hate genshin more than their mortal enemy) without ever playing the game is insane to me. And they went as far as harassing (yes, that’s harassing )people who sells their merch cuz genshin is popular. They have no idea how supply/demand works obviously.

  8. When I went to the anime expo 23 there was genshin impact, but not a lot. Plus the artist alley has been packed for two years. This year I only made it half way through the artist alley.😢

  9. I don't know why this guy has the idea that streamers speak for the community, especially for a game as casual and non-competitive/non-social as Genshin is. 80% of the people who play Genshin likely don't watch or care about Genshin streamers, I'm willing to bet on that.

The only way to really measure how it's doing is with statistics. Star Rail and Genshin Global each made around 30-40 million dollars in the month of September on mobile ALONE, they usually make even more in China. This means both games probably made 100 million dollars each in the month of September if you count China and PC, which is absolutely insane. Player number is much harder to track, unfornately. Google Trend is a way to gauge it but it's hardly perfect, even if you don't count the fact that China DOES NOT USE GOOGLE.

  10. They don't have to charge for you to use their assets because they charge for everything else. Thus influencing major game devs to build their games the same way, based completely around gacha mechanics. Mostly impressionable brains not considering any longs term affects.

  11. Spinning the chessboard around, Those people are sad by the lack of variety.
Take a really popular sport like soccer, imagine TV program are 50 % soccer everyday.
You get what i am saying? That's the source of the frustration.

  12. People not bringing up the real problem.

Genshin dominates like 60% of all online doujinshi, you scroll through any site and at least half of the page is genshin, another 20% is Blue Archive/Idolmaster/fate/randomgacha and then there's 10% touhou.

Man I just wanna read some good "content", not watch you enact out your fanfic with established characters.
