Genshin Impact Powercreep Is Already Here & You Don't Even Know It Yet…

Genshin Impact powercreep is taking over the meta. However, for some reason most people in patch 3.4 won’t even admit to it.

  1. i dont think it can be called powercreep when the overall damage is more less similar to hu tao teams but better in aoe. It also has a high base ceiling but kinda hard to push further due to it not scaling too well linearly. That being said, u can still pay more to do more than the current f2p ceiling so its not really a huge powercreep. Also most importantly, i fell like its more of balancing rather than powercreeping. It's been 2 years since pyro and cryo had over taken the meta after all. Anemo electro and dendro has had their ceilings raised far closer now so you have more options in beating the game which is more fun and arguably more healthy in the long run. There's far smaller room for a new unit to be bad thanks to dendro. Unless those units cater more to mono elements *cough dehya cough faruzan cons locked

  2. Sure Hyperbloom is "powercreeping" Vaporise at low investment. However, once you have more constellations, refines, perfect artifacts, etc, Vaporise easily outperforms Hyperbloom, Critical Damage builds scales very well with more investments but EM builds actually has true diminishing value. Yes there are more f2p/low spender playerbase than whalers in Genshin but you can't also generalize that Hyperbloom is better than Vaporise in every aspects because of low investment alone.

  3. To be honest. I find most of your points including the explanations to be positive. We are provided with fresh ways to do combat while not invalidating old styles.

New players won´t feel like they have pulled a dud with dendro characters. Units such as Yae Miko who are not only locked behind hundreds of hours of gameplay, but also fill the nearly the same slot as 4 star units can be quite a let down if you've just started.

End game players will have new teams to fill their second abyss rooms and a way to make commissions and events more interesting.

Hoyoverse will keep us engaged for longer. We all win.

In my opinion. Having dendro not overpowered would be the biggest letdown the developers could make. You can't just hype-up this mysterious new element for 2 years and make it perform bad.

  4. when a badly invested hyperbloom clears faster than a (admittedly f2p) jade spear triple crowned fully invested hu tao double hydro kazuha team… it’s a FeelsBadMan. i’m glad that people who take it less hardcore have sort of a cheat code to abyss (with really only needing to 90 the trigger and have a nahida for ease) but it does feel a little sad that ive invested so much time into that team just to have it be beaten out.
to be fair, my hu tao artifacts are… not great. and i’m able to clear abyss easily with hyperbloom on one side and hu tao double hydro on the other. it just makes me even less motivated to farm anymore lol

  5. Dendro is quite powerful. I started an acct with wanderer, xiangling and yelan as main damage dealers. Works pretty much on all enemies except hydro of crs and for them I use Yaoya for burgeon bombs.

  6. It's not powercreep, Dendro and it's reactions are just functionally as good in the manner that Hu Tao and Ganyu being really good in the game

Dendro enriches the elemental systems in Genshin, not powercreeping it, people just use Dendro more in spiral Abyss since people just bored with previously existing elements during middle of Inazuma patches before Sumeru, the fact that it makes previously barely working characters like Keqing to even Lisa to shine and even Yae Miko to have new decent uses proves, it's balancing the game, not powercreeping it

Dendro is just sufficiently pretty visually, good by elevating benefits of old characters and pretty good overall for both new players and old players

Sumeru is so much improvements (and W, if you're a zoomer and an Arknights player) from the mediocrity of Inazuma patches

  7. the only reason you get hate about venti is that you haven't actually used him since 3.0 and keep mentioning that he's worse than ever. If you had used him in abyss since 3.0 you'd realise he works on almost all the new enemies and as such his value has risen a lot again. Plus the fact that many inazuma enemies that weren't ventiable are now ventiable too.

Walrus, I am a fan of your videos, I'm just trying to help you out.

  8. I would say that it's specifically hyperbloom that could be considered "power creep". Quicken reactions are good but they require the same level of investment as the old multiplicative reaction teams. hyperbloom though can beat everything except the most invested meta teams with only 1 invested character

  9. I am having more fun with the combat than I have had in over a year, so I think this "powercreep" is a positive. I would welcome an 8th element a couple of years from now, too. It shakes things up and upends the status quo. The problem I see with Burning and any damage over time is that it's seen as a negative where speed matters most, the Spiral Abyss.

  10. They were very smart with dendro reactions. On one hand, they are very strong and low investment, making old reaction almost obsolete and weak. On the other hand, they designed a failswitch from the get go. Ever wondered why hyperbloom and burgeon both deal dendro damage? The trigger is electro/pyro. Wouldn't it be more reasonable for them to deal electro/pyro damage instead? Well, the reason is easy: introduce dendro immune/heavily resistent enemies and the party is over. Goodbye hyperbloom, burgeon and bloom.

We're in the sumeru honeymoon still. Of course now dendro reactions shine. And of course dendro reactions are going to remain strong and convenient in the future too. But don't think they will remain so universally broken in the future.
With Fontaine, natlan and sneznaya, vaporize and melt are going to come back big time. And why would you waste time with vaporize/melt when you can hyperbloom/burgeon/bloom enemies with ease? That is why, in the future, I'm sure they'll make dendro way more situational. If not, there would literally be no reason pulling for other elements, besides pyro/electro/hydro drivers.

  11. Hyperbloom is better than vaporise at lower investment, but vaporise does have the capacity to outscale it with heavy investment, so it's more that hyperbloom has an extremely high damage floor but the ceiling is capped slightly lower

  12. I do think though that perspective is necessary, because for different levels of investment dendro is either a power creep or an insignificant addition to the game. After all, if you are a whale who invests in c6r5 characters with some of the highest scalings in the game, dendro is pretty much useless because all their reactions are transformative which means there is a hard cap on the damage output of your dendro reactions with your EM. Ofc characters like Nilou can give resistance down which helps the bountiful cores damage and nahida can give dendro transformative reactions critical hits, which does raise that ceiling, but even with that there is still a realistic hard cap. Therefore, since more investment doesn't scale well, if at all, with higher damage after f2p/light spender levels of investment, then, yes, even superconduct alongside vape and melt can very easily defeat dendro transformative reaction damage output. For whales dendro is almost not important at all because its numbers cannot match the hu tao/eula nuke, c6 yelan's raw hydro damage, or other vape/melt builds with hu tao, ganyu, etc. For f2p/light spender players tho dendro can definitely count as power creep because it allows those players to reach the cap of potential damage for their team very quickly with reasonable if not even low levels of investment. It all depends on your perspective in the game on whether there is power creep or not, but for the majority of the player base which does consist of f2p/light spenders, then I can agree Nahida/dendro in general can be considered power creep.

  13. Dendro open a lot of team possibility. You dont use Kuki with national or anyother team. Thoma is not working with vape or shielder. I'm just glad we don't need traditional team. You can use both team for abyss without worrying characters overlap on both team

  14. Hyper Bloom kinda broken reaction lol low investment but equal power of Double Hu tao team.

My Hyper Bloom Team much faster clear than Double Hydro Hu tao / Funeration.

Dendro is for Casual lol remember this game is Casual games. Good thing Dendro make I finally released myself to Bennett Meta.

  15. I think this is overreacting. We all know that before dendro, pyro/hydro (mostly the offensive hydro characters)/anemo/cryo teams were busted. Like, electro was put extremely hard behind with only raiden carrying that element wich is dumb. Also, characters like kokomi and barbera were underutilized and now everyone wants them.
The same went for characters like kuki/thoma etc. They have now found ways into hyperbloom/burgeon etc.

I'd say rather than powercreep, this is balancing of elements. Every element is very usefull right now. There is not 1 element that feels bad.

Geo is very good as it is: tanky and unga bunga in trade for no reaction damage. I think they are a bit behind right now but I feel they will get a new gimmick soon enough.

  16. What I like about dendro is that it uplifted many characters inside and outside the pre-existing meta (vape, melt, etc). Dendro reactions are limited but it completely changed the gameplay. It didn't changed vspe and melt's reputation. Instead, it expanded the meta. And opened it to many more characters.

  17. I agree! as a new player who started when Nahida banner came, i can say that I catched up with the game pretty fast. Within 3mos i clear 3 stars upto 11-3 with the help of Dendro! The challenge for me will be to build them right with the good artifacts for Abyss 12. As a new player I feel very happy that even I play so late, at least I can catch up to other players and I can play with my friends very confident at coop. Still even I'm a new player – old characters are GOLD, that's why I stil hope to get them!

  18. I love the powercreep its more fun with dendro. Im bored with crit! Vape, freeze! !National , hypercarry. Etc. Dendro s more fun especially with nahida. For me its balance f2p hyperbloom hits more or less only 35k. Thats not bad. Compare to other reactions even f2p can hit big numbers. And i think later on they will make enemies immune or less dmg with dendro. Dendro saves me from artifacts farming. The pain is less specially for my raiden i stop farming giving her best arti. Got her since released but still this days got mediocre arti now I slap her all em. Now im free to raised other characters who I don’t play much.

  19. I started playing on version 3.1 and that time i am already using dendro traveler. But, when nahida came, everything became easy, specially on combat.

  20. personally i think dendro is ok(i am biased cause i love jumping stuff to death with nahida)
like at low investment its super strong, but it doesnt scale as hard with money as the other traditional teams
    like
if i want to upgrade my freeze team, i can get mist for ayaka, ayaka´s and shenhe´s cons, kokomi, kazuha
if i want to upgrade my hu tao team, i can get c1, homa, yelan, her cons, elegy, kazuha, his c2

    but for dendro
if i want to upgrade super bloom i get nilou c2 and nahida c2, kokomi and that is it
same for hyperbloom, the only really strong upgrade is nahida c2
the only one that scales more with money is spread/agg cause the dmg scales with the dmg stats, so investing a lot of resin, geting nahida c2 and the dps cons, adds a lot of dmg(i may be biting my tongue in a few patches if they release a dendro specialist buffer)
