I stopped playing Genshin impact because of Honkai Star Rail, and I don't think I'll come back.

I don't know. My friends were playing it and love HSR but they lost interest and went back to Genshin and other games. I didn't play it because i don't like turn base games with linear dungeon. But I take a break from Genshin once final fantasy 16 drops 😂

What I want in a MMO is character customization on par with Code Vein? Can I be pointed in that direction. This is the same problem Marvel and DC Comics have done to themselves. When people say sales are lower it's not technically true. Individual books, yes, but the companies are huge. They feed off themselves by so many titles available. It would be like X-Men vs Avengers in sales comparisons.
I switched Kokomi with Baizhu on my Yae Miko, Nahida, Kokomi and Kazuha Team and i actually finished the Abyss faster. Lol.
Focusing only on my Yae Miko dmg with Aggravate reaction was actually better than doing Hyperblooms inbetween…
That way i could use Kokomi on another team.

The character pool is getting saturated and the amount of grinding requires to level them up to the same level as the rest of my characters is so monotonous and boring. Also the fact that Hoyo is expanding the in-game TCG is not a good thing — that's time taken away from expanding the actual world and improving system to give players the much needed QoL. Most gacha game has a level sync system that removes the monotonous grinding in leveling up of characters. It still boggles my mind why Genshin doesn't have this system.
They are not competing their own game. They are accommodating it. Genshin's player base won't drop to zero anytime soon, so they probably drafted a weak banner and minor game update to help Star Rail succeed. And they made more money because of it.
It doesn't matter which toys you pick if they come from the same company.

im kinda bored of genshin idk why prolly burnt out but for me i just dont care anymore its just event,story,archon and other new characters and im just kinda over the genshin formula
The only reason why Genshin impact can not get any better is because of low end device players who spend a lot of money. Hoyoverse is scared to up the gigabyte space.

Star Rail combat system is absolutely unsatisfying for me as an AR60 lover of Genshin combat system and mechanics. I got a copy of Ganyu, her c3, and a copy of Baizhu, c0, and went for Amos' Bow as well, getting Jadefall Splendor on the way. I' was slightly disappointed since I had been hoping that Baizhu would be a good support for Ganyu melt, so as to substitute Zhongli and Nahida for Baizhu and Shenhe, keeping Xiangling in the team. It kind of works in the overworld, but not so well with difficult more end game content. Anyways, I love my Ganyu and was even trying to get her c4 until the end of the banner, and Baizhu is a pleasant character who works reliably enough in several other team comps.
– That earning amount is not low by the general standards of maintaining a live service game
– The money goes back into Hoyoverse anyway
– That amount is more than enough to ensure the game doesn't go into EOS, so I don't understand why people care so much.
I'm fairly new to the Hoyo community, and I'm very baffled as to why the average player cares about sale figures and the obsession of needing the game to "beat" other games.
I like how some people are pitting genshin and hsr against each other when they're basically owned by the same fking company. If the genshin players left to go to hsr who cares? The money is still going to hoyo 😅.

Tbh baizhu is a whale unit even tho i have one(c0), when you get baizhu to max you can just place him on your team and never switch him and his skills/whole skit will automatically activate you just need to attack.
Funny thing is the yae and yoimiya banner is projected to be even lower than baizhus, they’ve been under them for the past 3 days

In my case I was rather disappointed with Baizhu . . .
I mean, he's literally the only Doctor/Medic in the Game!
So, naturally, I was expecting his healing to be better than most . . .
But he doesn't even feel like a 5☆ . . .
Not surprised all of Hoyogames have always cannibalized a lot of the fanbase of the previous game they made. GGZ was killed by HI3 and HI3 dipped when Genshin came out not killed due to how it already died down when Genshin released. Meanwhile Genshin that's still mainstream and hyped for a a lot is only seeing a bad banner due to HSR. I'd say that's an improvement ZZZ might actually fail to do this and may end this cycle of Hoyo killing Hoyo trend.
how its strange to any one? the characters are not good at all. ganyu over all is not bad but FAR from meta relevant and most got one by now. baizhu is weak and one dendro to much . this on top of Honkai Star Rail being out. and on top of the main problem genshin will have from now on that dendro delayed. to much characters that do not really give you any thing but new looks. if they want to do the same amounts of cash as before they will need to start to release costumes and a lot of them. as new characters out side of some really op here and there stop being interesting. maybe if there be more end game combat content people will care more for new characters but so far it what it is.
Baizhu doesn't fit in any of my teams and I already have Ganyu so this banner was an easy skip. It is also the moment where people are rather waiting for Fontaine characters. Star Rail is also a big factor and I'm saving for Silver Wolf. There is only so much money I can spend on games so yeah. It is what it is. Nonetheless 9 million dollars is still a crazy amount of money that most gacha games can never hope to achieve. I also expect most players that took a break will be back to Genshin the moment 4.0 drops so any drop in active players is just temporary.
I think people burned out, playing other games, waiting for fontaine.
Genshin and HSR has an interesting relationship. More than half of HSR's playerbase are Genshin Players (According to polls, Hi3 doesn't even make up 10% of HSR's total player count). It seems like Hoyoverse is trying to juggle its players to constantly play both games at once (RIP Hi3 users).
Currently HSR is running dead (no events, update will take one more week). In almost the same exact time, Genshin released its events when HSR was getting stale. The event ends when HSR's 1.1 patch release. That will then become stale by the time Kazuha's and Alahaithm's banner releases.
Not to mention the upcoming Genshin 3.8 is…. anything but a filler patch. Without spoiling anything, I'll just say one thing: 1.6 -> 2.0

Reason are almost all genshin player already have a ganyu and baizhu is not realy that a big of a impact of a character especially in meta also theyre giving yaoyao a free dendro healer during the lantern rite and they almost have the same role in almost all debdro team.. plus alot of people already saving their primos for upcoming Fontaine release and you can see that mihoyo know this is happening because 2 of the patches before sumeru are all rerun banner and no new 5 star character before Fontaine.
From what I know.1. Baizhu design is actually not most of the China's people cup of tea due to weird elements/ colour combinations of his design especially flashing out his naval( too feminine) like Aether. 2. His weapon is very weak and he is also only versatile but not excel in anything(not strong, not pull),. 3. Ganyu is an old character that's not gonna perform very well in abyss except getting all those cryo buffer character package/ high cons. Most of the new meta players are getting Dendro strong package 5 stars characters with low con for abyss. 4. Many players in China are leaving the game due to Sumeru quest's problem on portraying Nahida's wisdom as an Archon in her 2nd story quest( too selfless without thinking ahead of future) and 3.3 story quest that involves wanderer. During the event before, letting wanderer represents history class as he is the one who changes the history record before (Many China people think this as bias although wanderer is very good in history of Inazuma). 5. Lack of new interesting gameplay for old players and most of the content involves storytelling thus making gameplay geek players quitting game cause they always skip the dialogue. They also dont like mini games.

Genshin kinda needs a QoL update to be honest. A new end game system too. It has become pretty stale when I stopped and that was 2 months ago. I asked my friend a couple days earlier if are there any upgrades to Genshin itself since HSR featured a lot of stuff that Genshin badly needed and he just said that nothing much and he is considering putting the game down too until maybe Fontaine. I on the other hand don't feel like going back anymore.

yeah star rails fault that baizhu isnt that great, player faith in the game is dropping especially after the dogshit dehya banner, and ooo nice a tcg event. genshin has BEEN losing its touch since before star rail came out.
