  1. So as others explained about Qiqi and how she is a Jiangshi. A Chinese hopping “zombie” (they’re more similar to vampires).
Another example you guys have actually seen is Hsien-Ko from Darkstalkers. The Chinese-robed girl that has the big metal claws. She also has a talisman on her and the talismans are the biggest indicators of someone being a Jiangshi.

Her request is a pretty funny misunderstanding, which stems I believe from a time when Ganyu gave her coconut milk and I guess her horns reminded Qiqi of a goat.

And then we have the doctor, Baizhu. A character we have seen a lot of, but didn’t even become playable until years later, because his element, Dendro (plant type), wasn’t implemented into the game yet.

  2. Just a short note as I'm watching — amounts in mora make more sense if you consider mora as pennies, not dollars. So 25,000 mora for a day's labor is more like $250, which would be a moderately high wage here.

  3. Qiqi may be silly and precious but her backstory is one of the saddest in Genshin lore. She was just a regular herb gatherer who became a casualty in the middle of a war hundreds of years prior to the main story between demons and the Adapti, and was revived by them out of sympathy.

She also received her Vision from her desire to continue living during her last moments and spent most of those hundreds of years frozen in amber after going berserk upon being revived due to the adeptal energy being too much to handle before being found and escaped from being buried by Hu Tao's funeral parlor before being taken in by Baizhu.

  4. WIth how much Childe is highlighted as a villain in the Liyue archon quests, it is very easy to miss the fact that he is clearly one of the mihoyo's favourite characters.
Also, I don't know if you were asked about it before (sorry if you were), but are you going to check out any other bits of lore?
Mihoyo likes foreshadowing a truly massive amounts of lore or providing context for future plot points either several updates ahead of them happening in game or in quests other than main plotline.

For example, flavour text for artifacts/weapons/materials/quest items sometimes doesn't make much sense at first, but when the plot advances it suddenly provides easily missable context for not only game lore, but actual characters that you meet later. Example: Pale Flame artifact set gives some info about some of the Harbingers and basically tells about why the Fatui were formed in the first place without really spoiling a lot, and that was in version 1.5 – even when we are almost at 5.0 the fanbase still doesn't know about approximately 40% of its flavour text's meaning; Husk of Opulent Dreams set provides a lot of info about one specific Harbinger, but it appeared in Inazuma and we only deciphered it fully with Sumeru archon questline finale.

Some character stories quests are literally picking up where the archon quest ended or just adding upon it. Example: Zhongli, Raiden, a lot of characters basically.

And of course there are event quests and some of them are just as important for the main plot as the archon quests. And the fact that they are considered permanently missable content made a lot of people mad. It got to the point that some are asking for those quests to be made accessible in some way later. Example: Unreconciled Stars event, literally 1.1 (!) version flagship event

The long world quest lines are admittedly a challenge to play, since they tend to be extremely long. Since you're not going to play them yourselves, you shouldn't burn out like those poor souls who played them. I think Sumeru world quests (there were SO MANY) actually lost the game quite a number of players for a time, but they DID have some of the best plots there are (*SOB*). Example: Jeht plotlines (there were several of her world quest lines in Sumeru), Narzissenkreuz (in Fontaine)

And then some character materials (those you get by advancing local "bond" system) like character opinions on other characters or some other things provide insight on what kind of person this particular character is. Or important plot points. Example: Zhongli and Childe themselves; also basically almost any character heavily involved in archon quest.

Childe (and Fatui in general) is one of the biggest examples of this, in my opinion. Without spoiling too much, its clear that they are the antagonists at the moment (and you pick up on it pretty easily). But as the game progressed it began to show them more as, as the Traveller can say in one quest, "A bunch of guys who see things differently than most people." In the later quests it can be very unexpected and even disorientating why in the world the Traveller is so friendly to Childe – if you missed the content that adresses this. The Chasm (Liyue subregion) quests alone work on humanising Fatui so well it changed a lot of people's opinions about the masked people.

I'm asking this because if you want to form somewhat comprehensive picture of the world of Teyvat, it is important to see some of those quests before you advance to the next region's archon quests. As you are finishing Liyue soon, you are rapidly approaching the moment where you should see Zhongli, Childe (and some others) character stories as well as some event stories (Unreconciled Stars, every Lantern Rite is a must – and I am most certainly not the only one who thinks that).
Even if you only check out some of this content (I hope you have someone who can compile the most important bits to you) not only will you have context for future quests, but you will also have a much greater experience than if you don't check it out.
    Though obviously beware of spoilers

Also, since everyone is talking about the Cocogoat incident, I'll just share another relevant fanbase meme that aged like a fine osmanthus wine. Qiqi's "Don't know" sentence actually sounds better in Japanese. This phrase approximately translates into "Wakaranai", which you can also translate as "don't understand". Qiqi says this phrase thrice in a sentence in Japanese and since the voice-acting is great, it actually sounds much funnier and even goofier.
Qiqi by herself is one of the most productive meme factories of genshin and is community's favourite. Just wait till Hu Tao rolls in for additional meme context

  5. Yup. Despite generally having no finite lifespan, so very many adepti died in the process of converting the future nation of LIyue from a landscape shattered by a still ongoing war between dozens of gods (over two hundred in all, but that was over the entire space and time of the Archon War) into a beautiful land where you have to look closely to see the lasting scars. A primary part of the contract Rex Lapis made with those who came to be known as adepti was that he would use his influence as a god to see that the humanity now able to thrive in the tamed future nation would remember the sacrifices that gave them their lives and wealth, and that the people would grow to be able to honor contracts beyond the mortal lifespan and thus become decent neighbors. He succeeded so well that even the worth scum in Liyue – people devoted to the ideals of crime even with no hope of reward – will almost instinctively hesitate at the taboo of breaking their word.

  6. Random trivia but if you remember the goddess with the white hair and orange eyes at the very beginning of the game, she has the same voice actor as zombie girl, which makes it even better cuz I never could have tell

  8. WOOOO Just seeing the thumbnail:

Zhongli, instead of "little girl", calls Qiqi "little friend"
    9:26 THE BARGAINING
    I actually did well
11:03 oop I saw that missing heart

28:16 pfft it's less the math and more Zhongli having near-the same reaction; the hand-on-head thinking pose, "innocuous", "practically speaking"
    Miss Qiqi, little friend

    Yessss

    37:50 hehe you need reprimanding.

    HAHA BOURGEOIS PARASITE WHO–
(and then he gives random trivia knowledge)

    40:15 aaa yes
oo I would recommend a voice lines/language video for her, and maybe others, but it'd surely give away something

…oo I might've found…DafDazDay has attacks and ultimates/bursts in the 4 languages, but I think they'd need to be directly linked so you don't accidentally scroll past a spoiler– wait have…I gotta see where your demo's stopped. Xianyun might be spoiled if you saw the miscellany

Oop lemme post bc I'm lost in their videos for "[Character] Voice in 4 Different Languages (Skills & Attack) "
(ohh https://www.youtube[DOTCOM]/watch?v=gETBUlr3UJM I just hope this doesn't end up hiding my whole comment – it's Zhongli's)

  9. Hm, with this, you have just one Act left of this Chapter, 3 Acts per Chapter, a pretty fair pacing, I think?
Anyway, I really like Qiqi, i wonder how often we see her throughout the Game, in terms of Quests?
Also, we met Baizhu this early? I guess it just took a while for him to playable, I wonder which Character has the largest gap between when they first got officially introduced and when eventually became Playable?

By the way, I would very much like to see you React to all Reverse 1999 Trailers at some point, it has a very interesting Story.
