Genshin Impact "Boycott" EXPOSES Slacktivists

HoYoverse is facing a “boycott” after the Natlan region was revealed for Genshin Impact. The petition and related outrage is extremely performative.

  1. I really don't care about this "drama", I just want the archon of the region. My only goal in Genshin is to have every archon just because. I've not played in a while though and missed out on Furina so time to get back into it if only to make these projecting hacktivists seethe.

  2. I think it would be cool if characters from natlan had darker skin tones but at the same time, it’s not real, and at the end of the day it’s hoyoverse who decides the characters designs. If you’re falsely reporting hoyo because you don’t like their designs maybe you need a therapist

  3. I mean…. all those people complaining are free to drop out of the entire franchise and look for other franchises (maybe even some hyper woke DEI franchise?) to jump into….

  4. That Brazil community note warmth my heart because YES, in here, we don't care about your skin color, capoeira can be and is appreciated by so many people with different skin that just love the fighting style or the dance aspect of it.

  5. Then get it out of America. If our opinion matters so little then just remove the game and stop taking our money.

I don't see why people should be expected to just give in to a company that values them so little. Another point is that if Natlan is a fictional region, then why can't the characters have darker skin? You're telling me that every fictional character from a fictional world has to have pale skin? Hell they could just as easily have blue or green skin! But why default to pale skin? That's my question. If they don't want to make dark skinned characters then just say so instead of coming up with so many excuses. Genshin has SOME dark-skinned characters, but my point is that a lot of these arguments people are making in defense of this are just straight up bullshit.

If they don't value American players as much as their Asian ones, despite them saying that they want to have a global appeal, then they are more than welcome to pull the game and give us our hard earned money back. That's all I'm saying.

  6. I can't remember the reference, or the exact timeline (so take it with a grain of salt), but back in ancient China, clothing etiquettes was more liberal in some regions & women were allowed to show cleavage + 'Zettai ryōiki" A.K.A: "Absolute territory" was a thigh-gap meme that started in Japan.

IMO Raiden is more of a MILF to me & side characters also seem to agree… Aaand I'll stop for the sake of spoilers.

  7. "United for tan lolis!" If they made a slogan like that, I bet they would have reached a million by now. I know, I would have signed right away! xD But alas, representation of course would be a hard sell. If they really want to sell this, they need to have better marketing.

  8. Could all the virtue signalling cry-baby American wannable activists that are white start showing support for their cause by removing themselves from America first, considering that Native American were not white skin neither, and by their own logic them being white shouldn't be in America 🤣

  10. 1:10 it's so funny to me that these guys are so unserious about this boycott that they're not even willing to stop playing the game. if a game dev was actually pushing problematic messaging in their games, i'm quite sure that these guys would find it so intolerable that they couldn't bear to even play it

2:43 yes, a grand total of 0.2% of you care

5:04 genshin has no claims of being realistic or representing anyone. ac shadows literally does. they explicitly state that shadows takes place in "late sengoku" japan and that yasuke is a "powerful african samurai of historical legend", which means they are actively misrepresenting japanese culture and history

  11. Imma say this cuz I dont give a shit. DEI boycotts are more successful than Genshin boycott. Recent DEI games 600 players/Downloads. Genshin 100M+ Player/Download. Yep I said it deal with it.

All that matters is that the game is good the story is good and the characters are good. TBH I legit stopped caring what woke groups want cuz we will end up with shit games like Kill the Justice League.

  12. When their 100k signatures inevitably accomplish nothing… I might laugh just a little. Not because I'm rooting for their failure, necessarily, but because they're acting like it's a meaningful milestone when the vast majority of us know this movement isn't going anywhere. But hey… if I'm wrong… that'll be interesting too I suppose.
