Genshin Impact Anniversary "Rewards"??? | Lorie on Twitch

It’s time to talk about the Genshin Impact anniversary rewards that have been announced. I am hopeful we will get more but right now, these are not great especially in regards to artists and creators.

You can watch me live at twitch.tv/Lorie playing Genshin Impact and more!

  1. It is not all we're getting. I have reason to believe that's not all the anniversary rewards. They sent us an email about how they are going to reveal the anniversary rewards one after another, not all at once.

  2. I’ve dealt with some bad anniversaries in other gachas. But I dont think I’ve ever seen one that felt so disrespectful to the players, ESPECIALLY from a game as big and popular as genshin. I usually try not to expect to much but just a CHANCE to win something that cost $5 and taking advantage of the artist community for free publicity is not only not enough but is active insulting to those artists.

  3. I kept hearing about the outrage of the anniversary rewards and I was wondering what in the hell was happening. Oh my GOD I did not expect this, so much so that I’m coming out of a decade long period of lurking to comment.

I tried to be optimistic but so many of these events are contests and NOT EVEN IN THE GAME??? I am one of those people who dislike the web events, because I’m not playing Genshin to go to some chibi event watching Kazuha build a boat in real time. This just all feels so lazy, when we devote so much to the game, whether that be money or time, and they basically ask for MORE, with no concrete reward.

I’m generally one to be happy with anniversary events just existing, because it shows at least some level of appreciation.

This? This doesn’t feel like appreciation. This feels like miHoyo spitting on us and saying, “Now draw for us. You want those primos do you, you filthy art whore? Oh you don’t do art and you want to do something in game and actually play the game to get a reward? Lol die I guess.”
OR IF YOU ARE AN ARTIST
“Oh wow this is so amazing, the best we’ve ever seen, but because you have Bennett luck, you get 100,000 mora 😌😌😌.” Like an artist could put in so much effort and not even get that measly $4.99 reward. It doesn’t make sense. This is crazy. I’m dumbfounded, where is their common sense?

Like one side is exclusionary and ignores the people who play the game who aren’t artists or cosplayers, and the other side is using other people’s talents and giving them nothing actually worth the time they put into their craft.

It gets even crazier when you consider what they’ve done for Honkai’s previous anniversary. They gave out a bunch of free shit AND a free S ranked (5 star) character, if I’m remembering correctly. I don’t know the full extent of it, but from what I do remember reading, it actually rewarded people in game without any contests that paid in exposure, or any external web events.

I’ll remain optimistic that all this backlash makes them do something that makes it seem like they care, but I won’t hold out too much hope. Hopefully they learn from this, because if it stays as is and they don’t do more, I’d rather them just not have a second anniversary event than risk a repeat of this. I am still reeling from how nonsensical this all is.

  4. Watch genshin just give us like a 'plot twist' and give us 50 extra primogems 🥺💓
Also forgot to mention that they decided to make the events about things that not everyone can take part in? Cosplay is very expensive and not everyone has the artistic talent or even recources to make the art? Mihoyo milks their genshin players for money and puts it into the other games like Honkai And Themis. You can tell how lowly they value not only the artists but the community as a whole. "You guys are worth 10 pulls and leftover primogems even though you've been playing our game for a year 🥺✊" Pretty greedy of them if you ask me. They didnt even try with this anniversary and it shows. If i do stick around after this horrific anniversary, if the second one is like this, im actually done.

  5. The anniversary is about giving them more brand promotion and only people with talent and free time will be able to obtain rewards, and what happens with all the people who have been supporting the game throughout the year through social networks and doing memes and things for the community and all those who have been playing it throughout the year?

  6. It's a player base VS. Mihoyo again, who would win this time?

But the fact you have to 'chance a win' your anniversary reward is pure ****, like for me I played this game since launch to only get my anniversary reward a '10% chance?' is this their best shot at appreciating for the dimes the player dropped in the game?

  7. I already had 0 expectations, but holy shit. They shouldn’t have even made such a big deal about their anniversary if this is just what all they had planned. Fingers crossed, I really hope they have something good stored for us.

  8. So like a bunch of free marketing for miHoYo from artists of the community… This is actually disgusting. I am so sorry to all the artists in the community, you are worth more ❤️

  9. Im very disappointed with mihoyo an anniversary in a gacha game is the best celebration because of all the rewards the company gives to his community, but what we have in this one: the majority of the events are out the game (even the rewards), it isn’t mean for everyone and the quality and quantity of the rewards are poor.

The best part about this is that honkai has better rewards for his anniversary.

  10. In FFXIV, there's an anniversary event called The Rising. There's a typically short quest (unlockable at a low level so even new players can join if they've played enough) where your character goes to help some NPC's for the celebration, like any other side quest. Some NPC's are from the year before's event and might say different things whether or not you've done the past event, which is a fun touch. The rewards are just for cosmetics (minions, furnishing items, emotes, music, titles. Not all of these all the time, though), but are unique and limited until the event is over, usually able to be bought a year later with real money at the online store if you missed out on the actual event and really want the rewards (because there are different rewards for every Rising event). What makes this event special aside from the unique rewards is that there's an NPC who's reaches out to you, and is actually one of the game developers who helped bring back the game from it's relaunch. He goes to tell the player a heartfelt message on how he and the team behind the game appreciates the people who support FFXIV.

Of course FFXIV and Genshin are 2 different games, MMORPG vs. gacha game, and both have their flaws. But it is disappointing to learn of these 'rewards' Genshin is giving to a very, very select few. As an artist, I at first would have liked to participate, but it's just not worth it after learning what the rewards are.

And if there are more rewards for Genshin that they're not telling us, I still don't have as much of respect for them after the countless contests that give shoddy rewards not everyone can participate in since not everyone in the community are artists or cosplayers. Art isn't easy and cosplaying isn't cheap.

  11. The whole genshin community reminds me of when you hope that the reason no one remembered their birthday is because they are planning a big surprise, and yet that time never comes

  12. Even as a lowspender, idk what to say, i’m tired to play the game, for a longtime ago and get nothing for 1 year? Well, just don’t know how react and what to say 😔🙌🏻

  13. FFXIV do the rising event which is an event which gives out a few cosmetics and takes you on the journey of ff14 from its inception, it's pretty cute… The difference is to have a really strong character in the game you don't have to spend $100s to $1000s to get there, sure you have to pay a subb (they gotta make money somehow) if you're in Stormblood and Shadowbringers but there's a huge difference.

Mihoyo going "eh here's a video and some primos" Is such an insult as they know people have spent crazy amounts of money just to play the character they want to play and are essentially giving the community nothing in return for making them content… It's a shame and upsetting
