  1. Hopefully they will change studios. But she seems kind of immature, continuing to work for over 6 months and then mobilizing her fans against Hoyo to resolve this. Even if she wanted to give the studio some benefit of doubt about them intentionally not paying, she could've given them a generous deadline for payment with a date for when she would start to withhold work. And I wonder if the VAs tried reaching out to Hoyo internally at first. Which would habe been more professional, you can still escalate via media later.

  2. Eh, either way Paimon should be completely erased for the game she is an annoying diaper baby floating around just taking space and disabling the protag's dialog. But even with that and regardless of my own reasons for despising Corina as a person, if she and Brandon didn't got paid along with the other actors for the work they did that's on the agency and they should pay for the work done, that's not up for discussion.

Everyone must get paid for the work they do, the nuances of discussing if it was a good work or a bad work resides on the pertinent parties involved how to negotiate that. Having said that, the agencies may very well be the connection between the artists and the good juicy projects but still they are bound to give the artists their hard earned money. Going union is not a solution, it will make every big developer reconsider if they want to mess with that sh*tstorm, specially when in their own countries those don't exist for a good reason as those are a mafia on their own.

Even if you think that in your first world country "They can do it right and better, omg" No, they won't, they won't be holier than thou and inevitably bend to corruption as everyone with a whiff of power always do. You have only few people in the top that will hog over everything and taking the good spoils to themselves, leaving the "lesser" VAs to choose either them or fly solo and struggle on their own with no "protection". It's hard to call it a choice when they would take every good contract to their members and leave everyone who is not part of their little union stranded or even worse trying to undermine them so they don't get picked and their members do. If you think for a second that it would be better than what it is now, you are delusional as Corina and those who "champion" that.

They would be effectively put VAs under the same situation but with a collar around their necks and calling it "protection". And this is the problem with people in countries than don't have the slightest idea what living in mirrored socialism is like. I really do hope they get paid for the work they've done, regardless of political spectrum and drama around them. That fact should never be politicised ever.

  3. "Genshin Impact accused of scamming Voice Actors"

Genshin Impact is a video game. accusing Genshin of wrongdoing is like accusing Final Fantasy for any shitty actions that Square Enix took. it's dumb and makes no sense!

i think what you MEANT was "Cognosphere accused of scamming Genshin Impact Voice Actors".

  4. All the comments saying that Hoyoverse is responsible of nothing is crazy.
You are responsible of your choices when you are subcontracting things, end of the line.
You made a bad choice ? You say sorry for the bad choice and subcontract things to another company to regulate things.
You stand by your bad choice and rely on damage control ? You are a profiteer.

  5. They should rightly be paid as per contract. But seriously, it feels as if both of them are more interested in getting the game unionized than about the payment, with how they presented the issue.

  7. They have no reason to be afraid of being fired if they have nothing to lose especially for example if your not being paid since the latest being Dec 2022

Unless there is something they aren’t saying THEN you can be afraid honestly proves there’s more than what most of the VA’s are saying

  8. With how Brandon and Corina didn't point directly to Formosa and given the current climate within Hollywood (the SAG on strike and in talks with studios over AI and residual payments) this feels like a grift to get more money. I'm not denying they went unpaid and are entitled to their dues but the way they went about it is suspicious to me. Unionizing or trying to muscle their way into SAG is also a red flag to me. All in all though, I hope this doesn't turn into a severe issue where VAs might get replaced or quit as I've found the Genshin VAs work to be pretty good and I've grown fond of the voices (even Paimon's screechiness).

I want to add that just because Hoyo went with a different studio for HSR it doesn't mean Hoyo is aware of any bad practices at Formosa. There are several possible reasons, such as:
-wanting a fresh batch of talent
-possible policy to use different VA studios for each project (would need to check HI3, ToT and ZZZ)
-they wanted a cheaper studio for the project
-or they do contract bidding and this other studio won over Formosa.

  9. For clarification:

Hoyoverse is not directly responsible for this, Hoyoverse did paid on time and the money was given to a studio called Formosa which is responsible for the paying the en VAs, but the money did not go through to the VAs. Its like this:

    💰Hoyoverse>Formosa>VA

But the situation is currently like this

    💰Hoyoverse>Formosa|

Basically hoyo is paying for a food to the restaurant(formossa) but the restaurant doesn't pay it staffs.

Other VAs from CN,KR,JP have no problems with their salaries and Honkai Star Rail english va is doing well also. So it's likely the studio is the one being scummy. And need I remind you that Formosa has a history of getting a strike from unpaid salaries so this isn't their first time.

So why did Hoyoverse pick this studio despites the red flag? Because Formosa has worked with AAA games such as God of War.

So rather than sending death threat to Hoyoverse, you should inform them that the en studio Formosa, isn't paying their voice actors. Tho it is also debatable if Hoyo have any grounds with Formosa since it's a big company that have work history with nintendo and other big gaming companies. The best Hoyo can do is to pressure them to pay since the VAs are in contract with the studio.

  10. When in doubt, always blame the big ones. Even if you’re wrong, people will side with you because they feel like they’re vanguards of a new revolution and that’s what’s most important

  11. I find the "controversy" of whatever the VAs are doing in their personal lives irrelevant to the situation and I don't even know why people are talking about it. I guess that's twitter for you though.

Anyway, hope they get paid. Formosa better fork up the money to the VAs right now! It's worrisome to know ANY of them could go homeless and lack food/medical care because of this!

  12. Okay, I don't know the drama about Corina and the Childe thing, so can someone give some juice? And the one about Paimon, I'm assuming it's them trying to push their pronouns on a character and make everyone use it?

  13. 10:20 – Haha, let's actually compare it to the Tighnari situation.
Tighnari – VA did some terrible stuff. The public learned of it. The public called on HoYo to do something about the VA in question.
Formosa – VA not getting paid. VA tells the public that HoYo didn't pay them. Public calls on HoYo to do something about it.
Formosa, if done like Tighnari – VA not getting paid. VA tells public Formosa won't pay them. Asks public to help bring this to HoYo. Public calls on HoYo to do something about Formosa.

  14. 1:15 when you make $86 million dollars/month… Okay who else the VA accuse beside Mihoyo then? Does the Studio make a $86 million dollars/month

The VA sure backpedal so hard once it turn out it was the Studio and not Mihoyo

You can't just smear others people good name and said it's okay just because they're million dollars company

  15. Brandon you played 1 side-side-character, you aren't pertinent to the game. For the sake of the characters that matter, I hope they don't leave, some of their voices help make the character. Like Sean voicing Diluc, that man handles the fandom very Diluc style.
