  1. There’s a reason why Nahida is small and having lighter skin. Kusanali is based on a Buddhist poem/story about grass fairies, called Kusanali Jataka. The moral of the story is to not underestimate/judge someone’s wisdom by how small they are. Although she does not look like the original, it explains her small, delicate, and pale fairy-like appearance and name.

  2. What have been upsetting me for a few months are:
    1. The powercreep from yelan's C6 over the other C6 5-star characters.
    2. I'm dead waiting for information about the new EM artifact sets (the X numbers in the leaks), the specific data about the kits of new characters, Dendro Resonance, new weapons, new reactions, etc.

None of them is about appearance design LOL.

  3. Tbh the new sumeru char looks a bit flat. Green ganyu and such. Honestly the most disappoint ING thing is the gameplay, 2/3 bow users? On top of looking boring they are also flooding us with same weapon type, need variety mostly in gameplay new weapons and underrapresentes weapon like claymore for instance, heizou even tough is "just a catalyst" is diverse and looks fresh. We still miss claymore 5* hydro, electro, anemo. Hydro polearm also not there, and soon basically all weapon wont be in dendro but they give us 2 bow dendro user. How stupid is that?

  4. Honestly I gave up on the accuracy of skin tone for each region when I saw Inazuma. Inazuma was suppose to represent Japan yet everyone was pale white. That is completely inaccurate. Even when Japan describes itself in anime or games, it acknowledges that there are some native Japanese who are slightly tan.

  5. "the people we're getting right now is from a rain forest area they're not supposed t obe dark skinned"
dude most of rain forests are in central and south america ,western and central africa and south east asia
am pretty sure that people in these areas are generally dark skinned

  6. As a black man I don't care if the characters green it's a video game 😂 and the folk's at hoyo lab's don't owe my black ass or they brown ass nothing 😂 what y'all better do is stack them gem's cuz you ain't go stop playing it 😂

  7. For me its more about Mihoyo being as big as it is and them doing so much research to stumble on representing smin tones is disappointing. Until recent leaks we had no npcs of color and here is a new region that has every reason to introduce another since both rainforested and desert regions have a high amount of tan skinned or darker people. And the roster of new playable characters seen so far continue to all be pale skinned. At this point Hoyoverse has shown they can and just actively choose to push the characters they may decide can be tan further back or just put em all in Natlan. This just doesn't inspire hope in them and it feels like they aren't confident it'll sell and I'm tired of so many games and companies acting like that is the case. I also don't buy that they are scared of backlash as for a fraction of what they make off a 5 star-character rerun they could hire a consultant for a month and have someone trained to depict any culture and skintone they want in an unproblematic manner. With how much they resuse models it's the least they could do.

  8. As a brown person, it breaks my heart when mhy borrow our culture and then not represent our skin tones, why are they picking and choosing? Can you pls bring on a south Asian for their perspective? Since it’s their culture being ripped off.
No disrespect meant but this is not an issue for a black person to speak on unless they’re from South Asia/Persia thought the diversity thing affects them too.
Finally it not that big an issue but it introduces concerns that hint towards white privilege – and that’s not me being harsh, that’s literally what it hints.

  9. I mean i am a person with visible melanin in my skin and this doesn't offend me in the least but what does tire me in all media is the lack of accent diversity. Why is everyone either, british or american english predominantly, sometimes Spaniard accents happen i wish for some Hindi or some more Aussie accents just more diversity i am especially tired of british being overdone.

  10. Dark-skinned South Asian here to say I'm disappointed but unsurprised at the light-skinned Sumeru characters. Clearly, it's too much to ask for a bit more diversity in Genshin. Can't wait to see more beautiful, lily-white characters with porcelain complexions, because they're obviously the most beautiful.

  11. People are getting upset over "representation" in a game where it is set in a "Fantasy" realm. This is fantasy, not an accurate representation of what things look like in earth. Yes, there are many things that accurately represent multiple cultures in the game: Liyue – China, Inazuma – Japan, etc. But hell, if they really wanted to, they could've given the people of Sumeru blue skin. These mofos need to calm the fuck down

edit: plus this is only the first update for Sumeru. Maybe wait one or two more patches after more characters are released to start talking about "accurate representation"

  12. Honestly, I like to play characters who look nothing like me. It doesn't matter what race, height, built, or gender. I'm already a video game character in my head, and can design my own Mii and play with it. Besides, all the characters in the game could've had green skin while fighting a race of blue-skinned Fatui. If the main character were Black, and all the enemies were White, I don't know what conversation we'll be having.

  13. I feel like some of the many leaked characters should be tan/dark tho. It would be one thing if there was only 1 or 2 characters leaked, but theres like 6 and theyre literally all white(except 1??). That mihoyo would choose to make them white, even the archon, is idk…a boring decision. Rainforest is still a tropical, sunny zone and ppl are likely to be at least tan after being out in that.

  14. Tbh I really don't get it
Why would I care about representation in a fictional video game ?
While yeah I would like more dark or/and Tanned skin characters am not going to demand it from hoyo there is a way to ask for it without been an AH
And if hoyo listen it nice if they didn't it's cool as well am not playing a video game for the representation am playing for the fantasy, fiction and story
That been said most these loud voices are a loud minorities who have nothing to do beside getting triggered in Twitter

  15. im a person of mixed ethnicity my skin is quite dark, and its like all the people complaining about the color of the skin of the characters to me its like i could care less, however what i hate the most are the white people complaining and acting holier than thou ill be a hero for u guys, upset for people who have color to their skin when alot of people just dont care, however people need to understand. its china.. china doesnt like black people or dark skinned people, all u have to do is look at what happens to black people in things that get released over there.. the one guy who played in the starwars movie had his image on the movie poster shrinked to where he wasnt as noticable, and china will never care u wanna know why. because they have human rights violations over there all the time,
