You can have up to 4 characters in your party (you can switch out the Traveler) but when doing Co-op it shortens it to two or one depending on how many in one world.
My top favorites are Xiao, Kazuha, Razor, Bennett, Chongyun, and Alhaitham. Anemo is very diverse in elemental reactions, dendro doing sort of the same but with different outcomes. Razor is a good dps, Benny is a healer and buffer, Chongyun is a support but pretty good at carrying

also i would suggest the storyline preview travail. despite it saying it has spoilers its just a roadmap of all the regions in the game and they all have insane OST and little snippets of the stories to come. a must watch for anyone just getting into the game.
DO NOT watch winter nights lazzo if you intend on playign the game as it contains spoilers. first finish chapter 2 of the story (inazuma) then i would say watch it as it is an amazing piece of art 😀

I don't play the game anymore but the trailers are and always will be masterpieces.
About the bandages in Yohimiya's trailer, bandages around the arms is part of the japanese Emo theme, for her however its just to bind her breasts, a practice alot of female warriors did in the past, also, they did't have bras back then so if u did't want them to fly all over the place during fighting that was the best way. All the stuff she has on her clothes is becouse her theme is japanese festivals, she's a firework crafter herself.
The game has character quests for almost all of them so u can learn more about them.
Btw, the woman in Kazuha's trailer is Beidou, she's one of the 4 star characters that launched with the game that did't get a trailer back then.
The player is refered to as the Traveler in case u were wondering, its something they do in every Hoyoverse game to avoid confusion.
Every character has a story that you can unlock through friendship levels that you can get exp for from different things and you reacted to the japanese version of Venti's demo last video

I don't think you can clearly say which character is the best, it depends of how you build and what you gonna do with them. Wanna make the character your main dps, sup dps or support, healers and tanks included. And per role you must choose another artifact set to improve her active or passive abilities. The varity of this games Characters is enormus and from time to time more characters will be released, so you can spend much Time, Fun and Money in this game. Btw my favorite Character is Yelan because of her abilities and her apperiance especially her hairstyle. I love it. So have fun with this beautiful Game

Many of the cinematic scenes are gameplay cutscenes, and as such may contain spoilers, but I would still recommend you play Genshin, and I'd love to watch you do so! As far as picking characters go, you start out with only the "Traveler" and then you either buy them with real money or collect them via a gacha system.
