You don't need to kill the pets unless you need mats. In stories or treasure finding, you just turn into the pets. The game registers that the pets are dead after you become one. If a chest can be unlocked by killing 3 pets, then just press 'T' 3 times, chest will unlock. Pets will respawn in 30 seconds after you collect the chest.
Lore about Kinich and ajaw they make a deal when Kinich is about nearly half to death and he found ajaw was seal off by him and like Ajaw said at the end of this trailer he want Kinich body as traded if Kinich died Ajaw will take the body to unsealed it.

i feel like what some people don't get is that Dendro is a nature element but it's also virtual-type element because of Irminsul which has virtual imagery and depiction. That's why Alhaitham,Kaveh and especially Nahida(who is avatar of Irminsul) have it too.

This is just me, but I just wished they gave Kinich a Might Morphin Power Ranger-esque transformation for his burst. Not the full costume transformation. Maybe just for his head, chest, wrists, and feet. Ajaw as the dragonlord reminds me of the dragonzord. Kinich really embodies nostalgia.

I don't think he's using Pixel based energy. in one of the clips his cubes look like a green version of the cubes the heavenly principles lady has at the very start of the game. it's possible that there's a correlation between Kinich's power and Celestia. also every dendro character's power represents some type of technological ingenuity mixed with nature or living creatures. so Kinich kinda fits perfectly

Dendro as an element has both "Nature" and "Digital" elements into it, like how Nahida uses a keyboard and mouse, Kaveh's suitcase using holograms and Alhaitham using a digital interface and headphones. Meanwhile characters like Tighnari and Emilie use scents and vines, Kirara, Collei and Dendro Traveler being leaves and grass. Apep Guardian uses swamps and DNAs. So 8-bit Dendro fits just as well.
