  1. Well its obvious those wings were not gonna be free and kfc is not everywhere I'd prefer to give my money to support any small creator than mihoyo, i don't understand why the kids are complaining again

  2. mihoyo is giving twitch our money and using streamers as an excuse

you guys gotta look out for your pockets cause you cant make content on an empty stomach, but this is dumb as heck and anyone who accepted it is probably a major idiot. no hate to them, but there's no other reason to do this unless you're desperate for genshin clout lmaoo

i guarantee you that most of us here probably never thought of buying twitch subs until now and i personally still wont do it. those that do it probably have enough to sub to those on the list AND the big content creators that you claim will suffer anyway

its almost guaranteed that most of the smaller content creators will see most of the people who sub for the wings disappear as soon as they get the wings but at least the whales will feed them for 2 months

  3. I personally prefer to pay $10 to get the glider + extra value for me (i.e. such as eating KFC or getting a battle pass or welkins for my account). i don’t use twitch. it’s just not in my lifestyle and preference to watch twitch. i do not prefer to pay $10 to get the glider + no value to me (i.e. twitch gift subs). customers buy based on what is useful and advantageous to them. consumers buy based on how they can maximize the value of their money. it’s just normal consumer behavior.

There should just be a non-Twitch way to get the glider and still end up paying $10.

Also, as a low-end dolphin, $10 for a cosmetic glider is expensive (for me). I would rather use the $10 to really improve my account through 2 Welkins or 1 Battle Pass.

Anyway, i won’t buy this glider. I can glide just as slow as with the other gliders, thank you. 💸

  4. I hate this decision of myhoyo, today I live in Europe, but I won't ,in any hypothesis pay 10 euros for a wing ahhahahah, I would prefer 1000 times to buy the kct bucket. I will use one VPN and pay 1 dollar in one sub in Brasil to get this wings, if I get them

  6. The thing i hate about this shit event is it force me to make a Twitch account, Blinding my credit card with it then subscribe to Twitch channel that I NEVER gonna watch for a fucking 2 months(or 2 channels for a mouth). I hate it. I have to go out of my way to just get a damm wing. It frustrating that way a lot of people will skip this shit event. Don't worry this event still gonna be success.

  8. idc about the wings. i don't MIND something like "getting a bonus for supporting a streamer". but that whole "2 weeks exclusivity w/no sponsors etc" is kinda BS. sure they get the subs… but how many of them would lose just as much over the same time period as they could have gained? AND its all from a list of creators THEY get to choose. there's a lot of ways they COULD have gone with this and not had it feel like they were just crapping on everyone, like open sign-ups, or just collab with KFC again, or hell, just give the wings away free and give the CN genshin players something free that we end up paying for in compensation… but nah, they have to choose one of the worst options.

  9. I think, by reading reactions on twitter and mhy lab, that the problems for people is that one, it's smt personal. There is a huge difference on giving money to a faceless company for a piece a chicken, than to choose a person. This implies giving money to a person regardless of your opinion of them or if you actually like their content, or if you alredy subbed to them. With a streamer it involves personal connection and I see that for a lot of people this is one of the aspects that clashes the most.

People didn't like at all when it was a streamer, an specific person with their own personality, ideas and feelings, bc it made the event deeply personal.

Second, mhy does get income directly to their pocket, the way they used to do so is indirect, but the income it's directly to them, you can't say it's all to the steamers. To understand this concept better you would need to study more about how projects are planned and made for big companies, which is a very specific type of knowledge, there is no point on pointing a finger at you for having a misconception.

I will try to explain why they directly gain by using and indirect method. In the case of kfc it's most likely that they didn't gain while doing the publicity campaign, they gained after the during and after the campaign. They probably had to paid to kfc for them to allow to do it, plus the publicity and all the related effort. They gained money during and after the event by attracting attention to new people and by bringing back older players. I think this idea is easy to grasp.

In this event they way they are managing cost of publicty is different and that is why is a direct income to their pocket, they are gaining money of the publicity campaign itself by not investing in it in a traditional way. As you said, this event is going to generate more traffic on twitch, genshin is going to get more traffic on twich, we are paying in one or another to make mhy free publicity, and on top of all, in one of the biggest streaming platforms.

This method is also different in impact and efficiency. The kfc event may very well have less impact in attracting new players than this, bc it's very different seeing publicity in some kfc in china, of a game that you would have to search yourself, than to get publicity of a game that you can see live gameplay with a selected friendly intermediaty, all this before deciding if to give it a try. The amount of effort put by the targeted audience is way less and this it makes this method of publicity more effective and cost efficient to mhy.

They had all this in mind when specifically deciding this method to do the event. If what they wanted was to allow all players the chance to get the wings they could have added to the in game shop for a limited time.

Global already has a huge advantage over cn players. The event in cn was done in specifics places, a good amount of cn players could not participate bc they couldn't afford to travel to one specific kfc. Global represents less player base than cn, but bc it's on twich a bigger percentage of people already have access to this.

If the goal was to get people to pay for the winds they could have opted for the shop. It's the fact that they deliberated choose this is the problem, specially in terms of how they financing it. This method indicates what they want is exclusively publicity, not to sell the wings and an easy method it's to use a friendly steamer as an emotional excuse to do so. "You will help you favourite streamer" "You will help small streamer" YOU are helping content creators" It's an emotional manipulative tactic. I saw that this also upset a good amount of people.

These points are the ones I see people getting upset the most, and I can relate to them in different levels, specially the way they are financing an event, which main goal is to get new players and to bring old players back. It's a very redundant way for them to gain more and more directly from us.

Now the hate to streamers? I didn't know about that, but it doesn't surprise, people in this fandom need to chill and think before acting. I think you gave a good context for the streamers side of story.

  10. The League community is known for being toxic…the Genshin community is quickly earning a rep as bandwagoning crybabies.
Thanks for not being one of them, IWTL.
Guarantee most of these people would be fine straight up buying the wings from the in-game store…

  11. I don’t understand this drama. People that say they “want to get a good meal” instead of paying for subs need to start eating actual food. Kids who complain that they don’t have a credit card to buy this need to either pay their parents or learn to accept that they can’t get everything what they want. People who can’t afford this and complain that it’s not free need to stop wanting things they can’t afford. And lastly, poeople who want the wings need to realize they’re ugly as fuck…

  12. Honestly this ain't even a good move on Mihoyo, they ain't gonna get much exposure, the top of the food chain are benefiting from this, smaller creators can't get the exposure needed, and hell I want some wings

If they just collab again with KFC that'll bring a heck of a lot more free advertising than this, and I got my chickens too

  13. Even for the streamers partaking in this “event”, they’re not getting much out of it in the first place. Things like this happen all the time with drops, people just go to streams and fulfill the requirements for the drop (glider in this case) and never interact with the streamer again. The same is going to happen here, these content creators on twitch are not going to grow from this, they’re going to be used for gliders. In my opinion this just hurts them as it doesn’t give these creators a way to build a genuine community

  14. I'll take my kfc bucket with noelle cardboard outside meeting other players well I order then pay someone for a code. I'm sure g2g will be full of codes anyways.

  15. Just so you know, the guy in that tweet is WRONG. CN paid 59RMB for the chicken bucket + kfc genshin wing which is a little under $10. So we are NOT saving any money compared to CN.

  16. It was clear wings won't be free I just wished for less exclusivity as it's getting more and more annoying. Buy gift card at google store to get furniture; get PS5, to get wings, weapons; buy 2x twitch sub for wings; buy amazon prime for primo code. Soon: "Spend 25 euro at Lidl to get Amber skin!", "Buy Calvin Klein pants for special gadget!". I am feeling really sorry for anyone who is trying to get all this limited stuff(I am not). I hope they finally do some typical gacha collab event with some other IP(I don't count HZD, it was pure Sony collab), instead only sucking on big corpo pp's.

  17. I am pretty sure that amazon gives a small % of bought sub to miHoYo. That's why only certain streamers are in the promotion so they can track it. There is no way they are doing it because of simple good will to support smaller streamers.

  18. I don’t know wtf is wrong with the genshin community. This is literally a harmless thing meant to support content creators. Destiny 2 has the exact same kind of promo available where you get an emblem and shader if you gift 2 subs to a destiny streamer that has the twitch extension enabled. It’s literally just meant to be a perk for supporting streamers, and people are getting mad as if they’re owed this dumb glider for free. Who tf cares it’s a fucking kfc glider
