Dear Genshin Impact…

This video is more than just about Genshin Impact. But my relationship with Genshin is what made me realize I have a problem with gacha games.

  1. This video ended up being longer than I intended.

I had a miserable time recording it and honestly, I'm a little nervous about how it will be received.

I know it's a big ask, but if you plan on commenting, I would appreciate it if you could watch the video the full way through before doing so.

  2. the worst part about this, Hoyoverse doesn't care at all, communication is their bane of existence, Dawei may cry again and again nothing really changes, unless they had a BIG playerbase drop you can cope maybe things will change

  3. I’ve been having the same feelings since Natlan was released, but the entire story of Teyvat and seeing the end is what’s keeping me committed even though I stopped logging in daily a few months ago. I became F2P sometime in Sumeru when they did what they did to Dehya.

I’m staying until Snezhnaya to make sure these feelings are reserved for Natlan (because the entirety of Natlan to me was a 6-7 out of 10) and not the entire game. I had more fun exploring the desert and all the lore associated in it than Natlan, which is crazy.

  4. Based youtuber discovered. you're now free from the shackles of Hoyo's chore simulator they call a game. We can still love our favourite genshin characters through fan arts, except now we'll actually play FUN games.

  5. This proves how gamers becoming lazy nowdays because new options are getting available to them in other games .i dont enjoy them anymore is simple answer to them .gamers seek for rewards.even in game they dont wanna hard work.i didn see you doing story btw what the hell ? And exploration thats excuse i can say i have easily done this better than Sumeru and Fontaine exploration in just a few days yeah f2p player like me.that cant complete in months i dont have any natlan character for that too .when developers are greedy they say i will say that arnt we players greedy too we want more and more from other games with rewards.

  6. I can tell the player base feels burnt out in general and mihoyo isn't doing anything to alleviate that. I came back to playing the game 2 months ago (I played since launch and stopped before 2.0 came out) and I've enjoyed natlan but there's certainly a lot of problems with the game that make me not want to play it further

  7. tbh i think i only still play it bc i have a habit of avoiding the main quests esp bc i play for exploration/pretty people collection so even though i've been ar 60 for like a year now i've only JUST finished inazuma (all of my world quests that aren't main quest locked are done too😭😭)

  8. The rate at which you are gaining subscribers and views on this video shows that dissing on Genshin Impact is the current meta, and I fully support it as it is the right thing to do. Unless people stop playing the game, it won't improve. We need to know when to quit something if it isn't giving us joy. You might get some hate, but I'm sure more will support you.

By the way, you should edit and upload small sections of your streams as many people might not want to watch the whole stream. It might give you more views.

  9. I would suggest to take a break from this game, or if you want it, play WuWa instead, otherwise yeah… same here, this game is officially outdated. I remember when GTA 4 was super wow for me… and now of course yeah haha, doesn't mean I'm comparing GTA 6 to 4, but 4 had its moment, and now we have 5 and soon 6, 4 is already done.

  10. THIS IS A TOTAL RANT LMAO YOU DONT NEED TO READ IT!!

Anyway.. I feel you, Ive been playing since verson 2.something (idk how many years it is) almost DAILY for the grind, then I had to stop because it was consuming so much of my energy and I had difficult time with school. Ive returned to it fully to go through natlan cus I was curious, around Neuvis and Zhonglis banner. The game was NOT respecting my time at all which I noticed just now because I was disensetised to it before when I played it daily. I HAD to play genshin before to get the 5*s as a f2p player. I now wondered why even grind for the characters to play in a game I dont even like playing?

I was hoping the story quests would pull me back in like Fontaine did last year- but no, I didnt like the story quests at all. The natlan exporation honestly sucked ass I hate the dinos and I hate they basically paywalled it (and thats saying alot cus I have Inazuma on 100% exploration). So that was my last straw, I moved to Wuwa and the gameplay is WAY enjoyable and I swore I wont pull for every character I see like I did with genshin. I also returned to some games I played as a kid and I had very enjoyable experience.

Anyway, I just hope genshin will have a big comeback with Sneshnaya (or how its spelled) because I love snowy landscapes in games. Lets hope they wont fuck it up like they did natlan! THX FOR READING

  11. Though I really don't feel the same way about the things you pointed out, I can understand why you're feeling that way. I've been playing for more than two years now, and it's still my favourite gacha game, and one of my favourites of all times, and I still play daily. I'm slowly getting to the point of 100% everything, and kinda dreading the moment it happens and I notice there's nothing more to do in the game besides wait for the next patch to drop.

That said, you're not wrong feeling what you feel about the things that you see as being wrong in the game. I could argue about some, but that's besides the point. When the game – ANY game – starts to feel more like a chore than an enjoyment, it's time to move on (not only games, but everything in one's life). Follow your heart and what brings you joy, nothing more should matter. Stay healthy and take care of yourself. <3

  12. I can't put in to words but the length that every gacha game have to do to make people like me spend a "little" extra time is dystopian beyond belief. It's so insanitary it makes the abyss war in natlan look like a mario party minigame, it's so gross it makes loot boxes in 2016 a renissance in comparison. All of the grinding, the leveling, the damn domains I have to wait to get the right day to grind. the damn wolf boss that players can't directly teleport to, the many world bosses that have waypoints far away from them. all of this doesn't scratch the surface of the problems genshin have and the devs never did a thing about any of them. every six week is a vicious cycle of what gets noticed and what's ignored. The game will be out of service by the time they consider reworking how resin is spent. And the worst thing about all this is that the journey in teyvat is only Chapter 1.

  13. My problem is with the decision makers behind genshin but the game itself is still something i enjoy unfortunately 😂
But im a day 1 one account and i take huge breaks whenever i feel like from it

  14. I mean commissions are pretty easy to do since they don’t take that long to finish depending on what you decide to do between normal and encounter. But I agree with the 60 pulls not being that much since it’s barely half a pull even though it slowly adds up overtime. At the end of the day, these companies just want our money and the 5.3 Banners that I hope the never do again is the sign for that.

  15. i miss enjoying genshin.
i think my breaking point was the ending of the bedtime story quest, which ended in pretty much a reset of the status quo. the traveler forgets they met their sibling and reverts to the i need to find my sibling goal. no character development, and a great excuse to stretch the story for a decade longer. i got tired.

  16. Also another thing for me which ain’t really hoyo’s fault, but it’s their responsibility since the hired the studio is that a lot of the English VAs have been muted cause of the Ai strike that’s been going on (which also affects lantern rite since it’s damn near the same situation as Nahida’s event back in 5.1 which was difficult for me to get into)

  17. As someone who plays Genshin Impact and Zenless Zone Zero. I have noticed the flaws of Genshin impact like the bloated dialogue which makes you feel like you're reading a light novel. Ever since I played ZZZ, I have started to play Genshin Impact less than I previously would. Also, I'm way behind on the story quest so I'm not going to speed-run the game until I reach Natalen.

Your criticism is very because you love the game and want to see it improve. Loving something unconditionally is not a form of love.

  18. i agree there are plenty of quality of life changes that genshin needs and is even more frustrating when they are implemented in their other titles like star rail and zenless. i've also been playing since launch and i cant say i regret the money i've spent, considering the amount of hours ive put into this game during the last 4 years i say its been well spent. that being said i also agree that the daily grind does start to become a bit of a chore, but when i do feel like that i tend to just get it out of the way in as little time as possible and move on to any other type of entertainment or hobby could be another game or just random media so i dont mind the habit of having to do dailies. honestly i just really need a new game to take interest in to drop all of the gachas for a while and most likely that will be mhwilds.

  19. The problem is that you people treat this game like its a job that you have to go every day and be on the clock

It should be a fun game to enjoy the story and characters but you people take it too far

  20. For people blaming the game and saying it's a prison, have you ever stopped to think that it's entirely your fault? You who are the obsessed ones who played hours a day and then when you finally get burnout you blame the game? Really?

and for the ww shills, it's not like ww is better than Genshin chill out

  21. I share this opinion too
I didn’t play since the launch but about a year later (I think second Xiao rerun). I used to be in love with it, playing it every time I could. But now that I came back I agree with your points more and more. I also think there’s been a decrease in the quality of content overall. I think the designs of the characters and overall scenery worsened. Mainly because I really don’t like the modern aspects they implemented in the character design…expect not to NPCs. Characters feel out of place in their own region, not to even mention others. This may be only my opinion, because designs are a subjective thing. I just feel like it feels…emptier. It’s a similar feeling as when you lower down graphics in a game for comparison. The story got simpler. That would not be a problem if they didn’t hammer it down with the whole suspiciously like “and the power of friendship!” Theme of no one fights alone. I also think they have problem with tone of the game. They try to show us a serious war with many losses, but the teaser and the tone of things they post and other things…I just don’t feel the tension there that I felt during Fontaine. Which brings me to my next point. Characters lack that reliability that makes people get attached to them. Sure, they have backstories tragic enough but…it just doesn’t portray well.(I can’t really explain it, English is my second language). The problem being Mavuika. As a character she’s fine. But she does not feel like an archon. She’s practically perfect and isn’t a hot mess like other archons are. And she feel like she’ll be relevant as long as Natlan is relevant. Because I really think the whole nation will struggle in the long run
Sorry for the length, I had too many things to say

  22. I agree with you 100%.

Unfortunately Genshin will never change because it is designed to be this way. The game is designed to waste your time and profit off of players as much as possible with as little effort as possible.

All the useless dialog in Archon and story quests are basically ads for the game's characters. They are there to make people wish for them. This is why dialog is unskipable. Making the dialog long also keep the player count high.

The only thing Hoyo care about is profit. They are not really trying to make a good game.

  23. I always questioned why they didn't have mounts like World of Warcraft. Even horses would be cool 😭 But the worst thing is the resin system. Having to wait a full day just to collect rewards sucks. I like building characters and farming but having to wait to farm is a drag. They should get rid of the resin system entirely

  24. Infinity Nikki feels like the first open world gacha game I can actually get into. Not just because its the first to actually focus on my demographic, but it also lets you quickly spend your stamina and doesn’t have the endless rng artifact grind and the platforming focus feels much better than slowly ascending up a mountain

  25. I agree with pretty much everything in this video. Another thing that made me gradually stop playing Genshin is the lack of POC representation. A lot of Sumeru and Natlan characters would look a lot better if they were POC. People who modded the game did this and the characters looked amazing. Sadly, Hoyoverse failed in this aspect.

I stopped playing Genshin when Sumeru came out. It felt more like an obligation to play it instead of what it truly was: a game. Now my favorite gacha game is Reverse 1999. Not just because of the story and turn-based gameplay, but because I enjoyed playing it. You can build any character at any time, the daily and weekly tasks are fun to me, I love the representation most of the characters have, and the music is amazing. Not only that, you don't "feel obligated" to pull for certain characters. If you want to pull for a character, that's fine. If you don’t, that's also fine. I have skipped characters and guess what? Unlike with Genshin, I don't feel bad about it.

Basically, if you like a game, it should feel fun. It shouldn't feel like a chore.

  26. Okay, But why is your voice so good to listen to? This is a yap I'd put on my bye genshin playlist

(Man being a fence sitter awaiting for QoL or anythign redeeming would really tire you. I've quit on Dehya debut. And ever since then I ONLY saw horrendous business decisions and updates from Genshin, 2025 and I am STILL not convinced they'll put anything good, my opinion and experience.)

  27. Ngl i feel like I've reached a point where genshin has more or less stagnated as a game for me. I go through the story through youtube more and i still enjoy the lore of the game but as a game itself I've been dialing it back more and more while playing wuwa and especially zzz.
I find zzz even more jarring cuz it's the same company but 1 dev team is actually trying their absolute best to respond to feedback (even having a whole soft reboot in this patch), while genshin… has made me wonder why these guys act the way they do cuz zzz gave responses in 1-2 patches while we have to wait years for a half hearted response (i despise the artifact transmitter cuz of the rules it has). Don't even get me started with how good wuwa has been for me lately as they show ALL the things i wish genshin did.
I love genshin, always have and always will and I'll always watch things regarding the story, lore, memes etc. But as a game, it's very disappointing and i think i might finally put it down.
