I actually think otherwise. In my opinion, there could be NO NEW ELEMENTS in the future, but I'm still sure Dainsleif will be playable (maybe with Vision or something?) idk, but considering Hoyoverse even made Scaramouche an Anemo character (which was very unexpected), I think Dainsleif could have had the same fate.
So for now there are Pyro, Cryo, Anemo, Hydro, Geo, Dendro and Electro forming the native element system.
We also have:
1. The red cube power of Kiana 2. Dain’s blue glow 3. Travelers’ light element 4. Abyssal powers 5. ??? (Might be time powers that Paimon uses)
I’m interested to see how the five new elements will play out and whether they will react with each other/already existing elements. See you in like 3 years lol
“May not interact with the *current*” checks out considering the trailer for the game is called the “Teyvat *CHAPTER*”, indicating that once the Khanre’ah/Celestia act concludes (hoyo confirmed that it will end after the release of Natlan, Shneznaya and then one final region/act), we may take off with Aether and Lumine and play through a new story with new element/power systems (proven possible by H:SR’s Hunt/Imagination/ect. class system.

Easy. In Honkai Impact 3rd, you have 3 basic type, that 3 type can react each other in a rock,paper, scissor way. And, there is 2 extra type, Imagineri and Quantum, they can only react to each other, and have zero reaction for the 3 basic. So, 7 element can react each other, and there is gonna be Light and Abys, they can only react to each other.
I have a theory that the Quantum element and the Imaginary element will be added, since somewhere in Fontaine they show us the respective signs of the elements (which appeared in Honkai Impact and Star Rail).
And if it turns out to be true, I feel that those two will be elements created by the habitants of Khaenria (I don't know how to spell it), being the real reason why Celestia destroyed Khaenria, because she did not want humanity to reveal itself and dare to dethrone Celestia and the Archons.
Dains and Paimons capes both have a starry/constellation pattern and maybe Asmoday has similar, so my guess is that Dainsleif is a possible Space/Ouranos vision user, or some power related to Leylines so he may have the same power as that of Resin 🗿🍷
