Joking aside, clunky characters sucks sooooo much especially if you're a mobile player. The lag already cause many time lose the clunkyness of the characters is just too much man. I don't get why they wouldn't improve the characters gameplay if the game are aimed at casual mobile players. In conclusion, I hate Yae Miko. KEKW
this is the main reason why yae miko, while being fine in concept, just feels like absolute garbage to play
I C6'd Sara pulling for Raiden, built her cause of C6, don't think I've ever used her.
This is why Yae isn't great like if your experience playing thr character isn't good then no amount of damage will make it fun.
I was more hyped fot Yae than any other characters ever since 1.5 and seeing how badly they did her made me almost quit genshin and only reason in even playing now to see Chasm and Dain story quest and if they disappoint me then this will be it for me.
I think that genshin had a fortnite done to it where the game was supposed to be played alot differently then it is now, like i doubt the fortnite devs anticipated 90s and that kind of play style same with genshin so there trying to take back some control over the direction the game is going
I only pulled for her because of her looks, VA, and cultured reasons 🙄
Her kit tho, is the biggest disappointment I've ever felt in genshin & I don't think tweaking/increasing her numbers will ever fix her problems to make her feel good to play, she really needs some reworking on her kit imo.
Sara does feel a bit clunky, but pairing her with Raiden solves most of her issues, at least for me.
I think there is also another side to this – sometimes you need time to learn how to play a character. If character plays diffrent it will take some time for people to get familiar with them until they can use them in rotation confidently. And big part of community like to doompost character on first day of release.
Just saying that Ayaka on her release was being hated by big part of comunnity excatly for being clunky to play ("Her dash makes her unplayable!" etc.) and now she is example of character with good mechanics.
Valk, my dude, come on. Wat happened that u forgot to bring up klee. She’s just as if not more clunky then Sara and yae.
Maybe they should just release content like raids where you could only use 1 character anyways (considering if you are in a raid with 3 other players)
It's good to have diverse characters. Genshin just doesn't have diverse gameplay.
I literally experienced this half an hour ago. Long story short, i used to use Yae on a mono electro comp for my first team on this abyss but I’d always do the chamber on like a minute and a half, just switched to Ult bot TTDS Lisa and shaved literally 30 hole seconds… It’s really sad that Yae, one of Genshin most iconic characters, as a unit, has an extremely bad kit design…
I skip characters who launch with broken gameplay because you can always hyperinvest to fix damage but clunkiness is permanent.
It was actually revealed yae was originally meant to be a main dps focusing her charged attack more than her E but for whatever reasons they decided to change her which is why she has so many flaws

I like her and all but her clunkiness is definitely the biggest issue.
I really really love yae! but I wrote in the recent survey that hoyoverse at least has to buff her casting lag time whenever she uses her skill… in my opinion this is one of the main reason why she feels clunky. I don‘t think it is that difficult to implement and it is not going to make her over powered, if that is their concern..
Me who has Triple Crowned Ayaka, Hu Tao and soon Yae coz why not 🤷

The moment i can no longer 36* the abyss then maybe i'll stop using Yae.
I just got down double crowning Yae. I do agree about the clunkiness, but it's not to an extent where I would freaking rage every second I have to cast her E because her dmg actually makes up for it lol I like her design and she's fun to use in the overworld and the abyss for me. I get other people's opinions, but this is just mine.
Clunky characters were never something good to begin with, there slow, awkward, and uncomfortable to play as
Most characters has a bit of clunkiness to them, depends on how you play them, for ME tapping Ayaka and Mona dash is the most annoying thing to do before trying to swap characters, because it won't swap until the animation ends. And I'm used to a dash then swap playstyle. But it doesn't stop me from playing them. Xiao's skill is fun, but just like Yae and many other characters, it's targeting is wack.
'Clunky' depends on how you play the game, some people play the characters for their base kit, animations, etc.
For those that loves the technicality, some characters feel clunky to them because they take too much screen time, animation cancel is hard, etc.
Not considering the game's bad A.I targeting, Majority of the community base Yae's clunkiness on too much field time (in comparison to similar units), needing to do 3 skills, animation cancel. I will say at first the animation cancel for her skill was a bit annoying until I grasped the timing, and now Yae has been 1 of the most fun units to play for me.
MAYBE I JUST ENJOY CHARACTERS THAT HAS ISSUES THAT I NEED TO WORK AROUND.
i agree and disagree, what defines a character as clunky is entirely subjective imo. U gave Ayaka as an example but i find her extremely clunky to play as well as many others. The problem i have with units is when they have fundamental parts of their kit cease to function because of bad game script/mechanics or something like that(Yoimiya missing shots frequently on slowly moving enemies or Yae not being able to hit the wolf boss from certain angles). While yes i must say there are some characters that more people like playing more but that doesn't mean that "clunky" characters are clunky to everyone. It sounds more like the word "niche" would be used here. Not everyone likes going super fast all the time.
I wish they made Yae miko's E much faster, like 0.3 secs fast. I just think it would be satisfying to zoom around the enemy/overworld, and it wouldn't make her game breaking either so why not
Clunky characters can stay as long as the payoff is worth it. For Klee and Yae, it’s not worth the hassle.
I, 100% agree, clunky characters shouldn't exists on this game. Yae, in her current state, shouldn't exist. Her kit is so bad, like much worse than Yoimiya's, in my opinion.
It's all because of her turrets taking up too much time to set up. You need to cast it for 6 times. SIX TIMES. You need to cast it 3 times, do her ult, then cast E three times while waiting for her ult and congratulations, you wasted a Bennett ult buff and a Raiden Shogun uptime. It doesn't help that you don't even have iframe/ interruption resistance and you're on animation locked when you cast them each time too. Jesus Christ Mihoyo, this is not how you built a character.
People were complaining about how Kazookid's E takes too much time to cast when he first came out then Yae went "Parry this, you filthy casual" to those mfs frfr.
Okay, enough bitching. Let's improve her gameplay for a bit. As long as her turrets takes less time to cast, she wouldn't be so clunky, imo
1. Press hold her E to cast all of her turrets at once.
2. Give iframe/interruption resistance when she casts her skill

Like the video you made in the new artifact set like it's not even in the game and you judge it those are the people that are not respected in terms of some this it's frustrating
I kinda wish Sara got an OP shield during her special charged shot, similar things have been suggested for Yae. With others like Eula or sustained charged shots Ganyu I have no problem incorporating a shield when necessary myself, but taking away a support you'd otherwise use just to support your other support with a shield is slightly silly. Then there's of course the arguably even greater issue of field-time requirement that Yae and Lisa (Unless just using her Q with Raiden) are hurt by, either a bit or a lot depending on the value of field-time in your team's rotations, field-time where coordinated attacks like Beidou's also don't trigger much, Xinqiu's a bit more cause you can cancel the swing.
Lisa and Yae are two of my favourite characters, and this couldn't be more true 😭
At least I'll eventually get Lisa's C6 and she won't be nearly as clunky anymore
Yeah but valk, the same "community" said raiden is clunky remember? They literally said she is a "broken" as not functioning in her release 😂. And also i use hutao ngl she ain't really the smooth character it is why she is benched in my account unlike kokomi and yae who are even more garbage according to the "community" well they are not broken characters but they are needed in my teams 😂
This all started with Eula as the first clunky character. She got alot of hate for her build up mechanic for her burst. Global and CN complained about her not being fluid. Eula, Yae and Sara are like set up characters. Yae is in worst condition since Hoyoverse kept reworking her and never settled on a proper role. Hoyoverse is getting sloppy and only care about style over substance now.
Yae’s kit could be better but HoYoverse decided to f her kit up, some might also disappointed cause they have high hopes that she might be on Ganyu’s level, but in reality it’s not the case, I’m thinking Dendro might help Electro to be stronger like Vaporise & Freeze reaction based on the amount of EM, Dendro might also be a debuff element like decreasing enemies RES or ignore DEF a small %
Imagine if Genshin Impact was made by Capcom and Not Hoyoverse. The game would be 100 times better than it currently is eventhough they never made and gacha games.

'clunky' gameplay also can lead to some of the most enjoyable and rewarding gameplay as long as the benefit to optimizing it is there. Sara's biggest problem is that she's worse than Bennett while also being more clunky than Bennett. If she was clearly superior to Bennett, no one would complain about her being clunky. They would use her and find her rewarding and fun to optimize. I actually do find her rewarding and fun to optimize – but I use C6 Sara with C3 Raiden and also Bennett – so she's in her optimum situation to provide the highest reward while also not actually competing with Bennett because they're both being used. So the fun of it becomes trying to be streamline and utilize Sara without negatively impacting the use of the other characters that are generally all easy and not clunky at all. The outcome is satisfying because Raiden destroys everything, and Sara is playing a fairly key role in that.
In Yae's case, she clearly doesn't add sufficient benefit to justify her clunkiness and make it rewarding enough for most players. She's also not competing only with a buffer that she can stack with (like Sara and Bennett) and instead competing with all DPS. So basically, probably no one should ever play Yae unless they just really like Yae. But that's the essence of 'off meta' so I don't know if that's a problem. She's just not the character for you if you want the strongest team. She's the character for you (and will be fun) if you like Yae and want to play Yae. If you just happen to be someone who resonates with her 'clunkiness' then you should play her.

I've been having a blast playing with characters like Sara or Yae (ok they're highly invested but still…) and no amount of community outrage is gonna get in the way of me enjoying them.
Let's be real Genshin's already easy enough where dumbing it down even more by only ever using cookie cutter quickswap comps is absolutely unneccessarry. I'd rather you know, have FUN!
I absolutely hate how obsessed with "The Meta" (lol) so many people seem to be, like you'd swear it's a competitive game with ladders, tournaments and all. Can't wrap my head around that…
Yae Miko has served her purpose for me (her JP VA and getting to look up when I glide with her) so I have no problems with her and I use her all the time.
If you invest mainly into her elemental skill she’s almost like a summoner class in Genshin. I love using her and albedo and then not having to do anything and everything dies (especially since she activates his skill). It’s especially useful to catch far away enemies you may have missed when attacking. She may not be broken but she has a unique mechanic with completely afk gameplay that I don’t think is mentioned enough!
I think she needs certain quality of life changes imo.
1. Holding E should bring out all her totems.
2. I-frame when she does use or hold E.
3. Burst does not destroy totems.
4. Maybe lower the CD of burst to 18 seconds.
5. Faster animation on autos.
6. Casting lag time has to go on her burst
7. Burst and E skill has to hit “enemiesHP” and not “objectHP”, it sometime kills one enemy and stays there and doesn’t target other enemy especially on her burst.
I guess clunky characters are like your guilty pleasure characters where you know they suck but still play them because you really love the character
