  1. I have been regularly confused about the low pick rate of Xiao in abyss post-Faruzan. I only have c3Faruzan but Xiao got SO much better to play in all current abysses and very few people seem to mention it. And he doesnt really require any additional 5*s rn to shine, yes a Faruzan c6 d be nice, but C2 is just enough to unlock his potential…which is SUCH a lower investment requirement than most current meta teams require.

  2. Just a little thing and not really important, but…

Although meta can stand for "most effective tactic available", I kind of think that acronym was thought of after the fact. Meta is a productive prefix in English (meaning 'beyond' in Greek) carrying a sense of transcendence or self-reference.

So when applied to games it's in a way: zooming out, transcending the game itself to see what is most effective.

Because think about it, there are such things as meta-textual elements in a text for example. There the acronym wouldn't make sense right?

  3. Now add the fact that Abyss bonus favors Dendro. After it's gone every one will bench those teams except Salad, which is good with chain reactions.
That's why all my Sumeru primo's went for Candace, Wanderer and C6 Faruzan

upd: talking about dendro 5* here. I don't see why to pick them when there are such good 4* dendro units

  4. Why Xiao over Wanderer imao, Wanderer has been one of the best characters on low gold and high gold speedruns in the current and last abyss cycle, which Xiao has not achieved

  5. TLDR: just get good artifacts lol
Also I think you should maybe change the title, bc this it the 3.4 abyss rotation and the 3.5 one with new enemies will start on march 16th. And if you choose to analyze that one things might get a bit confusing with the titles:)

  6. This is an interesting video for sure!

I think when it comes to KQM Standards vs Hyperinvestment, KQM standards aim to represent an average of the majority of the meta-focused playerbase, hence why their standards are lower than hyperinvestment. If you go to talent 10 across the board for example, you basically are at the maximum possible whilst talent 9 is sort of like a compromise between the people who did and didn't crown those talents. Similarly, the KQM artifact standards used the fixed subs in order to distinguish between characters who scale off of more or less stats.

I think in term of the "gold" system: I personally don't really like it as a way of standardizing general account investment. I think equalizing 5* weapons, characters, and cons fails to capture the benefit of character versatility over an account. For example, C2 Raiden is 3 gold, seen as equivalent to getting Nahida, Kazuha, and Yelan. But whilst C2 Raiden might offer better clear times in one abyss cycle, there may be others where she's disadvantaged against, whilst the trio of Nahida, Kazuha, and Yelan are incredible in a huge variety of teams and would give your account more flexibility in crafting strong teams for a variety of different abyss cycles (this is probably the most hyperbolistic example, but the point still stands). Weapons can also be affected, like whilst Key on Nilou might be a substantial buff to Nilou teams, it's also quite niche, whilst Elegy is a generalist weapon with a huge amount of use cases even though it might be less impactful on an individual team. I guess my favorite analogy would be: both a phone and a ramen machine can cost around $500, but you certainly wouldn't expect as many people to have ramen machines as those who have phones! The ultimate optimal pull strategy would probably be a mix of horizontal and vertical investment, and I think a very interesting experiment would be like a "multi-abyss speedrun", aka adding up speedruns of every a large amount of abyss cycles together, which would measure both versatility and raw power of characters.

Finally, I think that comfort and consistency, and not just speed is also a factor in analyzing meta. By comfort and consistency, I mean not just defensive utility but also how RNG-dependent the team is, how flexible/strict rotations are, and the margin of error of execution. Whilst both Alhaitham QBloom and Ayaka Mono Cryo cleared in around 90 seconds in this video, Alhaitham's clear was undoubtedly much more consistent, comfier, and less RNG-dependent. The Ayaka clear was amazing to watch, especially the incredible positioning that allowed for the double kills in one burst in 12-1-1; however, that was undoubtedly something that would take players hours to master. Even a slight misstep would've led to the burst missing the second enemy and the run would've been ruined, hence low margin of error.

  7. Really love this type of content! Please keep doing this for future abyss cycles. I like how you highlight investment level too, it helps give a clear picture of how long it would take to build a similar team

  8. As much respect I have for theorycrafters and speedrunners, frankly, they're wasting their talent and effort on Genshin Impact. The Abyss is a sad joke created by Mihoyo, a tiny nudge barely maintained to give something for hardcore gamers to cling to. It sure is interesting to look into, and this video was awesome. But the truth is, Genshin is, first and foremost, a casual game more akin to a visual novel than anything else. If you can make it something else that you have fun with, more power to you, but honestly, as I said, your time would probably be best spent elsewhere.
