  1. I feel that the more specialized characters in 2.0+ allow more variety without the power creep. Their popularity will rise or fall depending on the current enemies in the abyss.

    For example, the Golden Wolflord alone already forces players to favor geo characters and ranged characters like Yoimiya. I bet more players would appreciate Yae Miko if Mihoyo were to introduce a swarm of geovishap hatchlings in abyss 12.

  2. I’ve been using Yae ever since she released. Cleared abyss with her each time since. C0, R1. She’s been on par with every other dps, although I wish her E wasn’t as clunky. Otherwise she is very good, and I love her character. Besides, if you buff her with all other supports like you would buff any other dps, she does the same, you just don’t have to click your LMB as much ahaha. I’d say her normal attack is optional, although you can keep using her. That is an advantage in some sense, as buffers who’s buffs persist upon character change become a lot more desirable (Millelith/ ttds Kokomi, Sara, Inazuma craftable catalyst sucrose and such), and you can freely rotate between your entire team, and it feels pretty smooth without taking up too much time on any of characters.

  3. Sooo ig with that we should redefine meta and instill / highlight another importance/side of theorycrafting (one that is mostly ignored) — ie to find ways TO MAXIMIZE THE ABILITY of a character instead of OmG tHiS cHaR dEalS sHiTty DamaGe bAsEd oN tHiS calCulAtor and Is tHeRefOre tRasH!

    Personally, at this point, with enough artifacts farmed, I just rolled for chars which I considered fun. Then just choose which char and comp to play depending on mood or enemies. If I/you can't finish abyss even with good gear and comp, I think that's more of a skill issue than ChAr Not MeTa. Other players here on Youtube was able to clear content with weird teams, so it really can be done

  4. Some of my thoughts on this.

    Early 4* is are as OP as they are to keep player base stay in the game. Casuals who cant affort to get limited 5* units and those minmax who wanna push dmg as far as possible. If national team member doesn't exist, casuals gonna be like crybabies for getting beat up in abyss and dmg minmaxer doesn't have much stuff to do. So, basically, an easy mode.

    As for newer 2.x characters felt weak and cluncky and constellations lock. Well, at this point, yall too pampered in your confort zone of a perfect character like national team and liyue big 3 whatever. Be thankful newer characters totally didnt bench your favorite benny boi and all your god tier artifacts. Genshin characters building takes a lot of efforts
    and over time, newer content and abyss line up will give these weak characters a chance to shine.

    And for waifu vs meta wars, I bet yall will still roll for C6R5 for the most hideous character and most plain looking weapon just becoz that said characters is meta. This is gacha game. Dont expect all your fav characters will get the same treatment as the last best thing.

    Wew, just my 2 cents. Speaking of cents, gotta go back to mora elite run.
    It fun to play with the players who are really serious about this game.

  5. I still feel like what Yae really needs is a hold E that deploys all her turrets at once in a triangle / square formation around her. Hoyoverse is obviously aware she was a bit disappointing overall anyway, since they had that aborted attempt at buffing her kit already.

    Honestly she's the only one that has stood out as not feeling particularly great to me. I dont mind a little weaker if they're fun (eg Yoimiya) but with all that clunk in her kit, Yae is also not that fun to play IMO either. Haven't felt like the others were weaker – just more carefully balanced overall, combined with cases where the community misses the point. Still mad I skipped Kazuha because the general consensus at the time was he was useless if you had Sucrose or Venti built.

  6. The problem with newer characters in my opinion isn't power level, but lower completeness/effort put into their kits. This blatantly obvious with Yae and Yoimiya, but there are small details in other characters that also fall victim to this.

  7. Nah I still think some of the newer characters suck due to the design rather than the power level. Itto and Ayato are fine. Characters like Yoimiya, Electro MC, and Thoma all have skills that don't work on themselves and you are forced to switch characters for them to work. Why can't they just be flexible like older units even though they aren't even better at their niche than those older units. Then you have Sara and Yae Miko who are just clunky and not very fun to use in general. Overall I am not fond with the gameplay of many Inazuma characters.

  8. I hate how they try to promote Kokomi. So let me tell you a story.
    I still lucking (good) flower from Itto's set, but I didn't entered the domain like in weeks. You know when you have elemental clue when you pick your character to enter? This has electro and hydro on it, and my thought process was I just pick mona instead of Jean. So it's was pain for me when I realized that the hydro element icon on domain is just hey we want you to use Kokomi for heals. MY YOIMIYA DIED THAT DAY.

  9. I think that even before Raiden and Yoimiya, Ayaka was probably the most polarizing release to date. She went from why use her if you have Ganyu, to probably one of the strongest characters in the entire game. People were hating on her mechanicss, dash especially, calling her an outdated unit and a relic of the past. Genshin will always be like this, character comes out, people write them off because their numbers are not as "good" as the top and like two weeks of theorycrafting later, we find out they are actually good.

  10. Honestly it's not like previous situation was great either. Previously we had few characters that were absolutely bonkers and trivialized all the content when other characters were only ok. Not really great approach to balance to be honest. I guess you can even argue that trying to make strong but not game breaking characters like they are doing now is better.

    Problem I see with this is that game breaking characters like Ganyu/Zhognli already exists and they make balance characters look weak. Raiden is good example of that – she is actually very strong but people expected from her Zhongli level game breaking strength and we have character drama.

  11. I am a kokomi haver, she honestly feels broken in the same way zhongli is. She's a hydro enabler that fits anywhere you want her to and is excessively cheap to build. And you need literally no constellations to get her full baseline power. Her cons only really make her a better dps, they don't boost her role in a meaningful way imo.

  12. It's seems like Mihoyo tries to avoid powercreep so early on in the game. Its difficult because some early characters were already pretty strong. So instead of power creep we have power stagnation, with some beginner units like Bennett and Xingqui still ruling the meta. If Bennett was designed today, he'd he hyper focused on being a Pyro support, like Shenhe. Xingqui's kit would be 5 star worthy, just like Yelan.

  13. I have start Genshin at KleeRerun i think it was 1.6 . My first 5 star was Kazuha i love him to this day most fun charakter and after that i got Raiden kokomi and Yoymiya. All of them triple crowned .For me the Inazuma Charakter are the best in Desgin and Gameplay i dont care about Dmg. They are fun and that what i like on them 🙂

  14. Yes there are considerable power spikes at low constellations like C2, but that doesn't mean that the character is just "good enough" at C0. When any new character comes out, they should be judged without their constellations. Otherwise, people think the characters rely on them.

    Kazuha C2 is pretty good for melt and vap teams, but he is still phenomenal at C0. And the C2 is restricted to those 2 teams. If you don't run melt/vap teams, it is not good.
    Ayaka C2, C3 and C4 are insane But at C0, Ayaka is on par with (if not better than) Ganyu. At C4, Ayaka is better than C6 Ganyu imo.
    Yoimiya has good C2, but is still great at C0 and is the best DPS for enemies like specters. She is also the best DPS for the open world.
    Raiden C2 and C3 give the power of a C6 DPS. At C0, both Raiden National and Raiden Hyper are still broken and it shows that she is on par with Hu Tao, Ganyu and others at C0 alone. At C3 Raiden is better than most C6 DPS characters.
    Kokomi fulfills her support role very well at C0. C1 just adds another way to play her as she will have more damage.
    Itto is great at C0. Easily on par with Xiao. Early cons just make him even better.
    Shenhe is also amazing at C0. She is an amazing pairing for any cryo DPS and especially Ayaka. C6 just makes her busted. Other cons like C1 are there for some more damage.
    Ayato is on par with Childe in many scenarios. Its just that Childe has a very strong meta team while we are still trying to figure a meta team for Ayato. But when it come up, his C0 value will show.
    Yae C1 help you run her with lesser ER. But if you are running emblem set, it is unnecessary. I have Yae C1 and it just gives me the option to run other sets like 2 piece TF 2 piece atk.

    By making early cons very good, it makes people want to get them. And at early cons, the 2.0+ 5 stars are much better than other 5 stars at early cons. Ganyu's early cons are just a set up for her c6. Hu Tao has terrible cons in general except C3 and C5. C6 is impractical for long fights. Xiao cons are pretty bad until C6.

  15. as an ayato main i have to admit that ayato is the worst inazuma 5 star, sadly he is just a down grade from childe and childe was already falling behind, wait why os power creep bad? they do power creep alredy they just pick and choose what character is allowed to be strong

  16. having niches is actually a good thing for a game to do it helps to keep characters relevant for longer as the only thing that can power creep them is a character with same kit but better the paywall is a whole different matter but its something that will always exist in gacha games

    yae though her niche is an offield electro dps and nuke but she has to compete with raiden in that regards but unlike raiden she cant battery other units and has her own energy issues making her a worse pick

  17. Not every character has to be specifically designed for spyral abyss. Hence I don't really mind if newer characters are slightly bad or easily replaceable.
    But yh yae could be better.

  18. As long as there's a couple of "broken" characters I'm fine. The rest can just be fun. And that's what appeals to me about Genshin. All of my characters are modest investment, save for a couple of 5-star DPS. That allows me to make a lot of different teams. Even "meh" characters can do more than enough DPS, but if you use the right characters at the right time and just have fun, you can make up for a lot of DPS. Like taser in situations where there's a lot of enemies. Lack of raw output on a target can easily be made up by the number of enemies.

    Sayu, Kayea, Albedo, and Xangling is one of my favorite teams, all 80 with 4-star weapons and level 12 or lower artifacts. Still enough damage to do things like world bosses and ley lines. If I want easy mode, I bust out Hu Tao.

    The important part is to have fun. If you do that there's enough resources to level up any character to do enough damage or support to get through most content, save for the abyss.

  20. Here's the thing. Hoyoverse, and before Mihoyo, is doing really good job on translating personality to gameplay. Like Yae doesn't want to dirty her hand with her schemes, so they make her use tower. it's clunky, but i believe personality wise it fits her. And that's what they aim for.

    Also waifu vs meta war is pretty confusing from my side since uh, there's no competitive element in genshin yet, like no score board for fastest clear or what. If you can clear abyss, meta or not, it doesn't matter much right?

I really feel bad for Yae Miko, I don't have her but I know she have some problems in her kit, her character looks great and also I love her personality, I got Ayato and his weapon he is my first limited dps and I can confirm as you said, he is a balanced character, I like the way Hoyoverse introduces new characters that are balanced, or supports that shine in certain supports, maybe only the Archons should be a bit more powerfull or have more utility idk

  22. As a former Fire Emblem Heroes I can say I am so happy this game does not have powercreep. I would much rather have characters that are fun to with unique playstyles to incentivize pulling rather than make them stronger in order to handle new content. Because let's be real, Spiral Abyss floor 12 is the only challenging mode which only equates to around 300 primo gems per month not even 2 pulls. Powercreep creates a problem in the game and then the game devs sell you the solution to said problem, it's a rather scummy practice actually.

  23. I was really disappointed with how weak a lot of 2.x characters were. But turns out they are actually quite balanced. And that's good because we don't need to worry about powercreep.

As a F2P (i just don't have extra money bro, i'd rather eat once more than play a little longer..) i usually look for an interesting, appealing playstyle, mechanics, not for the dmg, support abilty or design. Personality come next, role & story then, and after all of it – th design. For example, my first fav char was tartaglia because of his test run. Felt very unique and fun to play.
    Now.. The only exception (partly) is Yelan. I don't really like her (elemental skill looks very very cool though), but i want to make my best girl Yoimiya stronger, and since i like playing her vapourise, i want to replace water dude with this water lady. Just for Yoimiya. If they add some suitable support for Childe I will pull for them too. Because these two mean to me almost as much asy food means to me. And food is life!

  25. Tbh for me as an F2P the logic is pretty simple. If at any point in future I start to notice that I'm unable to Clear story/event related content with my existing 5* units(very unlikely to happen) i would quit the game. My whole purpose of playing Genshin is that im interested in the story and the world it's building. I don't care to get 36* in abyss. Even after Hu Tao, Diluc is still good for story/event related combats. So I only hope they don't get too greedy and start making content near impossible for old units.

  26. this is all subjective opinion. personally, idgaf what the community thinks… all the talk about characters sucking or mhy needs to give us something is only stuff you hear from the community, so i stay away from it and just enjoy the game for what it is. no screenshot envy, no whale watching.. all that stuff distracts from the game. just play and stop analyzing.

  27. Well, some of the newer characters have been 'copies' of others (for example yae being a 'better' lisa and yoimiya a 'better' amber. Even though they are 'copies' of other characters they are still good and viable in their own ways. I think we may have a few characters come out that aren't exactly original or too unique (like kuki shinobou, her design is different but a couple of her animations look like they were just taken from other chars) but they will be forgiven when the hype train of those sumeru and Fontaine characters come out (cyno, those twins, forgot their names lmao) like, those characters look REALLY cool. Also with the upcoming addition of dendro and an upcoming nation we are bound to get some new and interesting characters. Very excited for the future of genshin

  28. Im just getting jaded at new characters honestly, at best they seem to just be sidegrades and potentially worse than current characters. I kinda don't want to never feel like im upgrading anything, just getting new skins that need a ton of a grind after buying. If they're gonna do this then they need to completely focus on the enjoyability of characters kits, Raiden is fun and good while Yae miko is clunky and meh.

    Why kuro you ask?They are currently the only company that have made a game that actually rivaled one of mihoyo's game which is honkai oh and the f2p extreameness is insane in PGR(kuro's game)since you can get all S ranks or "5*" character's
