What about pyro reaction with dendro dealing aoe damage. Would it help her be more versatile when fighting enemies?
Imagine if Hoyo drops 2.9 as filler patch instead of 3.0 with Sumeru ( we still have no official announcement yet). Imagine if the first Dendro 5* is like QiQi but green. All the Kazuha and Yoimya skippers will be absolutely happy. 😁 EDIT: Is a joke, in case someone missed it, like it already happened.
While there is no must-pull character yet in this game (no Kazuha is not a must-pull although he's indeed close to one) Yoimiya is one of the characters that you can skip safely, she don't have as much value as Kazuha. So if you really want new shiny Dendro characters, you can save your primogems for them.
However, Dendro is a totally new feature to us, we don't know yet how to build a Most Effective Tactical Available with Dendro in mind. And since next 3.0 is their official first release, we can expect their rerun before we get another Inazuma's characters rerun. So if you really, REALLY want Yoimiya, you can pull her and skip Dendro until their rerun.
But if you still can't decide, just do a coin toss I guess.

I have c6 Yun Jin and some decent bows plus Zhongli and Yelan (and Xingqiu) so I'm ready for her. I don't have Hu Tao or really plan to get her. I don't really want any 3.0 characters so I'm planning to pull on Yomiya and if I lose 50/50 I'll just save it for 3.1- Cyno maybe? I'll be excited if I do get her though since Diluc and Yanfei are my pyro dps currently and I don't really like claymores and Yanfei is always yelling at me about making an appointment. Either way I'm hoping for a couple of Bennett cons.

I like Yoi, thats why I am here. I may sound strange, but I am not really hyped for the Sumeru characters right now. I say, gib me Yoi and I will be a happy boy!!
at this point i don’t care about dmg numbers ever since i pulled xiao, gosh he is the first character i regret pulling for, and now he is benched, and i swore to myself no matter how much i love other characters, i won’t pull if their playstyle feels wrong with me. i created another acc and did yoimiya’s quest, and when i played her she felt very heavy to me, and some of her attacks hit the floor, ig it was bc i was fighting against mobs, anyway, i don’t like characters that feels heavy to play with.
"Character comes very soon"-at least half of the trailer characters doesn't even come in 2022.
As someone who started playing in 2.6:
-I don’t have Zhongli
-I don’t have Diona
-i do have C2 Yelan and C3 Yun Jin, and C6 Thoma (he’s only level 20 tho)
-I am interested in pulling Yoimiya bc she looks fun, especially with Yelan, and I am getting bored of Xiangling
If I pull Yoimiya and use her with yelan and yun jin, should I pour resources into my C6 level 20 Thoma? Or just wait for whenever Zhongli’s rerun is? (Rumored to be soon)
Double hydro zhongli or thoma is probably her best team.
Thoma shield with a normal attacker is invincible people have no idea. Very close to zhongli shield in this case

Thats a hot take about the necessity of zhongli. I’ve heard the same thing said about hutao, but I almost always use thoma because you can setup viridescent. Also the shield strength between thoma diona zhongli noelle isn’t that far apart and in most cases you just don’t need the strength of zhongli’s shield, just like you don’t need the excessive healing from qiqi or kokomi. Also as a note you shouldn’t be attempting abyss floor 12 without invested characters, by the time you start doing floor 12 all your characters should be level 80/90 or 85-90 including supports of course.
Besides that, shields are also optional for hutao and for yoimiya, its just a skill difference, unlike ganyu where in melt comps she is required to be in melee range and charging her shots for 2.5 seconds without interruptions to get maximum damage and melt off xianglings burst, yoimiya on the other hand doesn’t need to fight purely in melee, and she has more room for dodging and repositioning even though its a dps loss, but not as big as ganyu losing a charged shot.
Your lack of aoe can also be compensated by supports just like ayaka, whose aoe isn’t great for hoards or 3-4 enemies at the same time. But even then she is regarded as the best dps in the game currently. So imo the lack of aoe isn’t as detrimental as people are making it out to be, it sucks because you actually have to use your brain and create unconventional comps to get through aoe scenarios easily, and people don’t really want to do that, they just want to use 1 comp/1 build / same weapon all the time and not think about efficiency
When it comes to main DPS characters, the comparisons are simpler than comparing supports and to be honest and fair you should compare the characters to each other so people can make an informed decision. For Yoimiya, the main comparison is Hu Tao. For both at C0:
1. Single target damage: Hu Tao does more DPS and has faster Q burst damage. She can also skewer enemies and have multitarget Q compared to Yoimiya.
2. Team synergy: Hu Tao does not need a shielder, she has interruption resistance and can use VV double hydro setup to increase her damage ceiling. Yoimiya is restricted to having a shielder to optimize damage.
Hu Tao does not need Bennett to reach her damage ceiling, while Yoimiya does need him to reach her damage ceiling.
3. Kit issues: Hu Tao has dash cancelling to learn. Yoimiya has to complete her attack string without dodging, does not stay in Bennett Q, and has auto targeting problems.
4. Fun factor: subjective, but I consider moving around and learning dash cancelling more fun than being a stationary turret.

the irony here is people was so sure zhongli was going to be nerfed, but in the end his utility could never be wasted …. same with kazuha … his way to good to skip … never skip utility units … they just have to many use cases to be obsolete
yoimiya takes down bosses with ease. she's actually usually my first choice in boss content if my other side doesnt require zhongli, yunjin, or yelan, BUT unless you are a yoimiya shrimp or have visa power it is just more worth it to save for sumeru tbh. she's not a character worth FOMO'ing on insert typical xiangling meta cringe
