Everyone was coping about Mavuika being "only 10% better" and some were saying she's worse than the top dpses and now suddenly everyone agrees it's powercreep
so which one is it
6:08 you cannot say mauvika kit is natlan specific, when her c1 allows for universal teams. she also gains fast access to her burst w a normal attacker, which is common in meta. 13:06 in the patch of the character release you cannot call the enemies power creep, knowing that the game is doing this to feature the new unit. this is the pattern for the last 4 years!
my problem with this new type of powercreep is how they are now RESTRICTING YOU TO TEAMS, like when neuvillette came out, at least you could play him with any team mate you want, hell even solo, but now with natlan, and this new stupid ass point mechanic, it actually sucks because they are forcing you to pull specific characters TO BE ABLE TO PLAY ANOTHER CHARACTER, that is insane and idk how people are okay with that, fuck this bs

Genshin overcorrects things. Early 4* too good? We got a lot of mediocre ones for a while. Every region has added some attempts at changing or speeding up movement.
I see nightsoul and powercreep the same way and cut them a bit of slack for now. If it gets worse in schnezneya, oof.
Remember pneuma and ousia? That was supposed to be a defining mechanic for Fontaine, but was so weak you could basically ignore it. Nightsoul is also an attempt at a regional combat mechanic, but this time overtuned to define characters.

honestly genshin lost all it's appeal since neuvillette came out and this is said by a neuvillette main( former ayato main) the game soo unbalanced that it feels either like playing candy crush or just doing chores
I‘m so high invested that I could brute force the papilla but I never managed to break thr shield. I think the whole concept of wipes is just stupid.
I've already been less motivated to play cause of some other Genshin controversies. And now they make it so I'm not able to clear it almost at all. My account is old, I have quite a lot of characters and I've been able to go through the whole Abyss without a problem (not 36 stars). Now it's almost impossible 😭 I know the biggest problem is my play style but I'm just SO annoyed at this increase in HP in floor 12 all the time and adding weird groups of enemies. I really wish they would add that 13th floor where they can do all their HP inceases and what not and i could just chill for going through the 12th. But anyways, they don't care and I "need to get good". Eh. At least clearing Theater is fine…

I missed like 3 patches during the Xianzhou 2.x quests of hsr and I suddenly can't clear all of MoC anymore like I don't even know what's going on. And then I go to Genshin where I just didn't pull for any of the Natlan units other than Kinich because I was pissed off at the kit or design now I can't play the new strongest character in the game Mauvika to the fullest potential. That does piss me off further and puts me off the game. I just don't think the nightsoul shit is working tbh. Genshin simply doesn't have good enough end game content for them to be doing all this power creep. And the abyss is more difficult in a way that is just tiresome and not fun. The abyss now is more like you need certain kinds of units to optimally clear the content when I remember using the least synergistic units to clear the abyss as a fun challenge during the early days
I think the local legends are a fun way to increase difficulty. They’re hard but they make me use the craziest teams to clear bc of their mechanics. Just adding more hp and shields on enemies just feels tiresome 😭
I’ve always been fine with Genshin not having hard content/content to really match the level of investment you can reach, because it meant everyone could play their faves. Some faves are good out the gate, others require some investment, but you could clear the content with anyone. They’re raising the ceiling but in a way that’s starting to leave characters completely behind, and I don’t like it. It may not affect me personally, I have a decent chunk of C6 5*, some 100+ individual copies of 5* weapons, and the artifacts to pay respect to my monetarily invested units – but the trade off has always been ”you’re never gonna get to have much time/fun with your beloved units but that’s because the ceiling needs to stay low so that everyone, no matter their mains, can reach the thresholds needed for all content.”
And they’re breaking that second part of the bargain.
And if I get annoyed by the restrictions (I HATE HYDRO IM NOT PLAYING HYDRO FUCK YOU HOYO I ALSO HATE PYRO), I can’t imagine how others feel. C6R5 Chiori and C4R1 YeLan laugh at the first half – but I don’t like YeLan. I do not WANT to play YeLan. She only has cons to buff onfield Kokomi. Theater is meant to be the element and horizontal investment check, Abyss is supposed to be the ”we suggest this but if you’re invested enough you can ignore it.” I just worry that if I feel the strain, then sane people who don’t swipe or spend a shit ton of time in the game must feel genuinely squeezed.
Genshin has been a good middle ground for years (again I’m happy to trade my challenge as long as others can play their pookies) but this direction (more than just combat but I’ll shut up about that…..) is 1. Anti what Genshin has been for these years 2. Going to lose the majority of its player base. It’s silly. Whyever they thought they needed to fix what wasn’t broken is beyond me
This is my big issue with Star Rail. I hope this is just exclusive to the Pyro Archon because of her hype. I've been disappointed with the direction Natlan took, the Natlan artifact sets are so good they're trash. There's no reason to use anything else and it takes away from the game. They probably won't even add new artifacts until Snezhnaya lol
We need a 3rd side to the Abyss. I've got too many good supports, and it feels bad to not use some of them.
I have no Natlan DPS except for Traveler, but I did like the "hitcount" mechanic. I just barely managed to clear it once with Keqing-Nahida-Fischl-Kaz, and I hope to see more showcases of other non Natlan teams against it.
I genuinely hate all the purple natlan abyss enemies. They were already annoying asf in the overworld and they are even more annoying in abyss
Those free pulls are on the second half because they're for Chinese New Year, just like how ZZZ and I'm guessing HSR are doing. I think if Mavuika was released closer to CNY we'd get them for her. I'd definitely rather they were given out at the start of the patch but I do get why they've gone for this instead – they've kinda treated 5.3 as two separate, smaller patches.
i hope natlan racism ends there. we dont need ночная душа in snezhnaya. they have to give a breathing chance on unused team archetypes instead of artificially create new fake ones
I didn't pull for Mavuika because of all of that. But also there are no really interesting characters after her, just reruns.
I don't think the power creep is happening too much at C0 characters, but incentivizing new units based on enemy characteristics is bad. One thing I always remind myself of : if you choose not to do floor 12 you are out 200 primos a month and 2400 a year. If you do 6 stars you are out 100/month and 1200/year. I am a day 1, very limited spender (like 80 bucks total), and I do 36star each cycle, but a 10 pull or less isn't worth the angst of refreshing the abyss unless you are truly enjoying the content. So in this regard, the powercreep has almost no Genshin Impact.
While this is a very relevant discussion to have especially with the release of Mavuika after characters like Neuvillette and Furina, I also think it's just as unreasonable to bring up a lot of "4* only abyss clears"
The way I view 4* only clears, is that they're very much an endgame kind of challenge with already seasoned/veteran players and is actually the opposite of f2p and new player friendly unless specifically mentioning hyperbloom but that would also entail using c0 lisa and barbara instead of kuki and xingqiu if a new player doesn't own them.
Every single abyss 4* only clear has all the characters at c6 already with very high quality artifacts (except baseline hyperbloom) and to me that just seems like a much bigger sign towards endgame players wanting to challenge themselves and making content more challenging to execute, it's the opposite of how an f2p user would plan out and play on their accounts, they're almost always guaranteed to have multiple 5* characters that are universal as opposed to fully maxed out 4*s+constellations.
It would be more accurate to call it a challenge showcase of the ceiling being reached towards what is possible to be achieved if someone tries hard enough, it shouldn't be a baseline.
Powercreep not my favored end game type. However I think team restrictions is pretty good for the abyss. Like forcing you to take a bow user or something with a lot of elemental hits (buring/venti). It makes the teams have more variety instead of Neuvillette/national/hyperbloom brainrot. I personally prefer hyper specific niches like those in fgo challenge quests with stuff like "female below 1.60m" or "lancer with divine trait", but genshin's roster is currently too small for casual players. They need to release more 4 stars with specific niches, before they can really really do such stuff.
In the and of the day Diluc, Hutao, Yoimiya, Lyney, Arlecchino and Mavuika can beat the abyss so who cares
Just get the right support for the character that you want to powerup and thats it

Xianyun doesn't buff just Xiao and Diluc she opens up a whole new gameplay style

As an HSR and Genshin player, I will say HSR FEELS easier to keep up with simply because they make it easier to get (and especially build) new characters/light cones with much less time invested than in Genshin. One of the biggest differences is also in the availability of characters and their bis teams/weapons on banner. In HSR, if you don't have a character, they rerun frequently enough that you can save and invest, as you used to be able to do pretty reliably in Genshin. The artificial scarcity in Genshin is feeling the scummiest to me nowadays, in addition to the hyper specific end game content. Say you wanted to build Wrio and got his C0 when he released, planning to save for C1 and featured weapon or, archons forbid, Shenhe… You've been waiting for over a year now and that's not uncommon anymore.
Skipping natlan cuz of this. At least if the characters looked cool or had interesting lore I would've pulled but the region is such a disappointment in more ways than one. More excited for Nod Krai and Snez
Rant: Y’all wanna start a strike??? Seriously, think about it guys… maybe for a few days/weeks or something cause Hoyoverse needs a wake up call and give some respect to older characters and players. I been playing since 1.0 and I still love it. But the way they control the meta and directly influence the community’s enjoyment is like they think they are too big to fall.
Our community was and still is their everything, but sometime it doesn’t feel like that anymore. I feel like I have to keep up, and I barely have anything else to do anymore besides building characters (yes, I don’t touch grass). Rather than introducing Powercreep and FOMO everybody to purchase the “new thing”, why not focus on new characters mechanics that can benefit old teams and reinvigorate different play styles. And for old players like me, I need more endgame content that doesn’t just focus on powerful characters.
Anyway, if anyone end up reading my little insignificant rant here, thank you! If this Powerscreep ever gets out of hand in the future (and I’ll let the community be the judge of that), we need a leader that can lead this strike. Stop playing for a while and see what happens.

It's funny to talk about this, when I see in many videos out there teams of 4* characters doing the abyss in the same way as a 5*, there will only be powercreep if the old characters were no longer able to do endgame content…
I recently decided to drop star Rail after that video that got somewhat viral about how story quest takes like 5 hours, of which only like 10 minutes are actual fights, plus how they are bufffing enemies tremendously to favor new characters.
With genshin, I think I will still keep playing, but perhaps a bit more casually, and probably will stop buying the welkin moon.
yehhh the restrictions sucks but hsr powercreep and content is just like doomed asf. zzz is pretty good still though
I like how different abyss enemies force you to conjure up a quirky team or re-challenge to 3 star specific chambers if you can't or don't want to run said quirky team. I also like buffs making some characters all of a sudden more useful for a patch. Just being able to national team one side and hyperbloom the other every single abyss is nice but it gets boring, so I enjoy the incentives for variety. If it's so restrictive that you can't reasonably clear a chamber without 1 specific character, then that's variety and therefore not good.
Mavuika is just peak bad design and powercreep.
I feel like other Natlan char's damage is just equal to Fontaine or so.
HSR powercreep is worse. I am not even able to farm decent gear on a character before they get obsolete (poor Jingliu)

i think papilla is both my favorite and least favorite boss we have had in the past 6 months.
the concept of enemies that ACTUALLY threaten to kill you if you fuck up, has a shield that can be broken by a wide variety of compositions, and reward you for meeting the check sounds EXACTLY like the kind of boss i want in genshin. how trivial it is to meet the check for natlan characters, and the absurd res if you fail to meet the check are enough to completely ruin it. the current res amounts are 70% natural and 35% if you break. simply tuning it down to say, 45% natural and 25% with break would be SOOO much better.
i really hope we get more "suggestive check" bosses in the future that dont burn 2 minutes of your time if you fail, but still reward you for performing a challenge. papilla was so close.

The icing on the cake was that they say they don't want to stress players out from the difficulty, but yet apply all of these restrictions to pressure people into spending. Why bother with making interesting designs and gameplay mechanics when you can pay for the solution?
Yeah it got a lot more aggressive. But on the other hand there is no real need to clear floor 12 in abyss. Since they give away the 600 primos for just clearing until floor 11, I have quite a lot of friends in my list, that don't even touch floor 12 anymore.

the worst abbys floor is when it has 3 separate wave like wtf? i need to clear those double consecrated beast for in atleast 30 sec and worst when the boss has invulnerable animation just wake up
