Y’all… Ayaka’s dress… isn’t historically accurate 😱😱😱 western style dresses didn’t exist in traditional Japanese attire😱😱😱 neither did Raiden and Kokomi’s thigh-high socks 💀💀💀
Honestly I wouldn’t mind if he looks rushed And I hope a good percentage of the community and this game has a lot of time and effort put into it so either way this character looks good
As someone who has a sibling who's 12 years younger of age gap, I look entirely different to him. Not all siblings should look similar, as you might know so far only Jean and Barbara are both playable and are siblings, yes Childe has a sibling too which looks similar to him. That's how genetics work for the most, but it could also mean that Ayaka and Ayato looks different since both of them probably looks like both of their parents rather than one. Have you noticed how most daughters look like their father? While the son looks like their mother? If so, You'd realize this might be their case; especially if you realize that both Jean and Barbara, Childe and Teucer have the same gender. Both men and women so it's more likely for them to look like one parent. Not saying that it's not entirely possible for it to be opposite, but you'll know the majority.
Both also have different roles in lore, Ayaka is a samurai and Ayato is a Yashiro Commissioner, those are two different roles, Ayato being a commissioner means he doesn't have to fight as constantly as Ayaka, thus he doesn't need armor the same way Ayaka does.
Leakers did say that Ayato's design would be inspired by Zhongli, he's so far one of the most unique characters in design, just because he's a sibling doesn't mean he should look like a copy paste of his sibling, and even if he did; we'd have a completely different story now and people would complain that he looks too much like Ayaka.
I would admit I don’t really like ayato design but his clothing is inspire by westernize Japan. I see many games and series have similar outfit. (Hakuouki and touken ranbu, gintama ) and I heard his long sleeves represent his noble status.And judging by what I read in the comment. It might symbolize that he likes change and open minded. I think it great if it true, because they put some effort on now they design him. But tbh beside itto mihoyo never wow me with their character design. So I don’t know why ayato has so much hate. I love zhong li, but when I first glance at him he just look like an normal anime guy character. It until I play the story I love him .I have lots of complaint of other character too but at the end of the day it anime character. So their gonna be lots of re use stuff since they have similar faces, espically with limited body type.which is why mihoyo go super detail on clothing haha.

In my opinion, his clothing actually looks like a mix of old and modern clothing which is interesting and cool. Even if Ayaka and Ayato doesn't have the same hair color so what? Isn't it normal if you compare it to IRL like the brother having black hair got it from his mother and the other sibling having brownish yellow hair getting it from their father or past relative…
Plus, Im not trying to sound mean but…people who arent happy with him..are you forgetting that someone leaked his character art even before his actual drip marketing date? ( and if youre wondering "its only a few more days till the actual drip marketing tho like they have enough time to adjust other things" they are are a company with years of experience they would highly likely know how to adjust things in the last 1 hour)
Honestly im not a big fan of ayato design either. ( and before anyone says this I've never saw any fan art of him. And no im not comparing him to ayaka or whatever.) I just feel like his design is kinda plain tbh. He has a pretty face though

I personally LOVE his design. his face makes him look very satisfied and fits his role. his darker hair and eyes also makes sense as his element is hydro.
I haven't seen any of the pieces of fan art that others have loved but I still find myself disappointed in Ayato's appearance :/

Dude I hate his pants… The transition from the heavy detail around the waist to the pants is so abrupt
