Genshin Impact’s latest beta for Version 5.3 brings significant changes to Mavuika, the Pyro Archon, and it’s sparking heated discussions among players. Traditionally, Archons have balanced their kits between support and damage roles, but recent adjustments seem to push Mavuika further into a hypercarry role—at the cost of her support potential. Before we dive into the details, make sure to subscribe for more updates on Genshin Impact. Let’s break down the key nerfs, their impact, and why the community is raising concerns.

Mavuika’s Role and Nerfs: Archons in Genshin Impact are known for their support-focused abilities, like Raiden Shogun’s Energy Recharge or Zhongli’s unmatched shielding. However, Mavuika’s latest nerfs suggest a shift in design philosophy. Her Elemental Burst, Hour of Burning Skies, now provides a reduced damage bonus, capping at 40% instead of 50%. Additionally, her Flamestrider Charged Attack DAMAGE has been significantly lowered, making her less effective in dealing off-field Pyro damage.

Changes in her Elemental Skill.
Flamestrider Charged Attack Cyclic DAMAGE: Reduced to 195.5% from 271.6%.
Final DAMAGE: Dropped to 272.0% from 299.2%.

Her Ascension Talents have also seen changes.
Talent 1. Gift of Flaming Flowers: Party ATTACK bonus reduced to 30% down from 35%.
Talent 2. Kiongozi: Burst DAMAGE scaling decreased from 0.25% to 0.2% per Fighting Spirit point, with the cap reduced to 40%.

Now let’s talk about her Constellations:
C2. The Ashen Price: When in the Nightsoul’s Blessing State, Mavuika’s Base ATTACK is increased by 200, and she obtains the following effects based on All-Fire Armaments’ form:
Rings of Searing Radiance: Nearby opponents’ DEF decreased by 20%.
Flamestrider: Mavuika’s Normal Attacks, Charged Attacks, and her Sunfell Slice from the Elemental Burst, Hour of Burning Skies, deal 60% down from 80%, 90% down from 130%, and 120% down from 180% of her ATTACK as increased DAMAGE respectively.

C4. The Leader’s Resolve: Enhances the effects of the Passive Talent “Kiongozi”: The DAMAGE increase gained after using the Elemental Burst, Hour of Burning Skies, will not decay over time, and gains an additional 10% DAMAGE increase up from 0%.

While these adjustments aim to balance Mavuika’s power, they’ve also made her Constellations feel more essential. For instance, her C4 restores her original support potential, effectively gating her full power behind a paywall. This trend mirrors recent Fontaine characters like Wriothesley, whose effectiveness at C1 set a precedent for gated power levels.
Mavuika’s nerfs may push her towards a selfish hypercarry role, akin to Fatui Harbingers like Tartaglia and Arlecchino. This shift could set a worrying trend for future Archons and high-profile characters. That said, there are still two more beta builds before Version 5.3’s final release, giving players time to provide feedback.

Mavuika and Citlali are expected to feature throughout the 5.3 banners when the update drops on January 1, 2025. Will HoYoverse address the community’s concerns before then? Only time will tell.

What do you think about these changes to Mavuika? Are they justified, or do they go too far? Let us know in the comments below. Don’t forget to like this video, and subscribe to the channel for more Genshin Impact updates!

  1. The nerfs are to be expected as with every early version of character, they’re broken beyond belief then nerfed to a realistic state.
She will still be the best pyro dps and arguably dps in the game at the time of her release and is getting dedicated melt support Citlali to make sure of that.
Idk why people are mad at her damage being lower because regardless of how much damage she could’ve done she still would’ve been just another pyro dps, instead of the subdps support we wanted.

  2. Yknow, before Natlan even released the community wanted the pyro archon to be a dps. Since like 2.x to present before the trend of archon supports really started. Now suddenly everybody wants her to be a support. Genshin Impact has the most critical and indicisive community ever.

  5. As long as she applies pyro off-field similar to raiden E applying electro, people can make her a support just like EM build raiden. People are just complaining for the sake of it. Id rather hoyo make her full focus on DPS and let her keep the off-field pyro application the same even if her party buff is relatively weaker than her being subpar on either support or dps
