  1. I mean for the past 2 regions. (Natlan, Fontaine) the harbingers have been on our side…. but I feel like every other nation just hates the fatui, maybe mondstadt a bit less but aside from that….
Also I dont think the general populace of teyat hates the heavenly principles…. I dont even thunk they know of its existence

  2. My man, Sula in ancient Rome could be an example of a dictator who had similar relationship with his former subjects after stepping down, I suppose. Of course, there will be variations in specifics and details, but he was a brutal autocrat who had the gall to walk around with no guards after stepping down and yet noone even attempted to do anything to him afterwards. When you think about Raiden, well. She has great personal strength, so of course noone tries to do much. The fear is stronger than hatred in those examples, I think.

Also, archons can be viewed as forces that you cannot change, so you just have to accept their nature. People may be just glad she changed her mind and now she can continue being the cool protector they want, while still remembering the hard times, just not aware of any alternative as of now. Denizens of Inazuma clearly view their archon as not one of them or just their elected ruler, but an actual god, whom they cannot do much else than accept, which I think is the crucial issue most real people have there. Raiden is too humanized for them to view her as a god, because she is just a pixel character with boobas, I suppose.

While there are obviously holes in the story of Inazuma, I think it is because the story of that region was a bit too ambitious for the time they decided to dedicate to the nation, rather than bad writing. Hence they ended with this state in need of some stretching and blind acceptance.

For the Kokomi voiceline, I think that is just a very political thing to say of her. In my mind, she is first and foremost a leader who needs to keep The Shogunate appeased.

  3. The game isn't based around hate but around being fucking dark with an (increasingly thin) patina of cuteness over it. The game is made to not appear bad or having hate because the undertones, what is deep under it, is DARK, more DARK that it seems, isn't polarizing hate the game search for, it search dread under a patina of light… and more we go toward the end of the Archon quest line and more dark and deep it became… you don't need hate here, with all this faked light and dark underneath…

  4. i think the reason majority of inazuman do not hate the shogun is bc the vision decree and the closing of the nation didn't really affect most inazuman aka the major population. it only affect traders, vision users, and watatsumi people since their main source of livelihood is trade with other nations due to their soil can't grow food, unlike other inazuman islands which are capable of self-sustaining.
not to mention the decrees have only been in place for 1 year. it will probably take years or decades for the decree to affect major population and cause an unrest.

  6. TL:DR – Anger is being suppressed to some degree.

Actually … there was that time when the Traveler was angry at Scaramouche … but that anger was used against the Traveler, because they were surrounded by Archon Residue, the remains of slain gods.
We’ve seen Collei angry at the Fatui people in Mondstadt (in that comic), and her dark power that originated from Archon Residue acted as she wished.
We even have Xiao and Cloud Retainer, who participated in the Archon War, and as consequence, the Archon Residue (Karmic Debt) possesses nearby Monsters and become more aggressive. (This could be an additional explanation for Xiao’s constant angry demeanor)

As you said, we rarely if ever see anyone really that angry at the gods, well, what if there was a reason for that? What if, anger is being restrained? We see with Archon Residue knocking out the Traveler, that restraining anger would actually be for good reasons, however this restraint of anger only seems to be applied to everyone who isn’t a god.
Zhongli explained that Havria didn’t place a curse on her people because she held no hatred towards them, and we’ve seen with many gods in the Archon War, that fighting for a Throne was more important than their previous allegiances, as we’ve seen with the God of Chenyu Vale.

It’s also important to recall, that Remus built the Symphony (whatever it’s called) to connect everyone’s mind together and find out how to grant everyone what they want, however the Symphony somehow figured out that everyone wanted War, Bloodshed, and utter Violence. The humans of Remuria’s civilization were angry, yet it was only the device of a God that could reveal this anger, and permit this anger to be acted upon.

Khaenri’ah had no god to rule over them, which is weird since … it would seem that every human civilization had a God ruling over them, so however the Khaenri’ahns avoided that would be rather interesting to learn. I don’t know how much freedom they had to hate, but we have heard from Clothar Alberich, that there was an apparent discrimination against Half-Khaenri’ahns, and in the book of Perinheri, there was a line about accepting the Orphans and People from the Other Nations that may suggest some resistance towards such an idea. It’s possible that Khaenri’ah simply hated Teyvat itself and all of its inhabitants, but chose to tolerate everyone except the gods.

I wonder if perhaps, the gods have some divine presence that constantly suppresses the emotion of anger? I’m sure there are cases where people get frustrated at others, or even cases where a person was wronged so intensely, that their anger simply exceeded the suppressions against it. Like in Emilie’s Story Quest, where that one NPC vowed to get vengeance against the others who caused his sisters death.

We even have that one case in Nahida’s second Story Quest, where Apep was originally claiming that she hated the God and would do whatever she can to destroy Nahida and her people, however after cleansing Apep of the Abyssal Corruption (or whatever it was that was infecting Apep, I forgot), Apep calmed down, and said that although she still harbors hatred towards the gods, she knows better than to attack for such a reason.

Anger is an emotion that seems to be closely observed, for whatever reasons, and by whatever method.

  8. I don't really get why people call the Shogun a dictator. People seem to forget how the normal people of Inazuma saw everything the Shogun was doing. They weren't forced to do anything, they weren't enslaved. They were only forced to remain in Inazuma, which isn't really a problem for the average person who wouldn't be able to afford leaving anyways. As for the war with Watatsumi, to the people it was probably just their leader fighting a neighboring nation, which isn't something the average person would worry about, since they have other things to do. The only ones affected were the ones who had a Vision, and based on new lore that has come up, Visions don't exactly seem to be a fully good thing.

And there would really be no point in hating the Shogun/Ei once she had opened the borders and stopped the Vision Hunt Decree, nor is there anything the people of Inazuma could do to take her out of power. And we know a lot of what happened in Inazuma was orchestrated by the Fatui, so it's not like the Shogun/Ei was completely at fault.

I feel like people in the west are too focused, even obsessed, with punishment. While Genshin, being Asian, is more about redemption and forgivance.

I've seen people say they wanted Ei to be punished somehow, but how would she be punished? She's a mind in a sword in a robot body with the power of a god, what kind of punishment could she receive??

  9. Raiden is a god, …. And let's not forget that the VISION hunt decree only target VISION WIELDER which represents a minority of the people. Regular citizen, beside being unable to leave the nation weren't oppressed, threatened, or anything like that. Westeners act as if she woke up one day and go on a killing spree…. Like no…

  10. I saw someone on reddit defending ei saying that what she did during the decree is an "oopsie" compared to all the good she's done for inazuma through out the years. Even saying that getting mad at her for actions during the decree is like getting mad at your parents for not buying you ice cream one time.

I understand that there's more to her character then soulless ruler (her pain, grief and what have you) and that she was trying to protect people, but like.. dude, she caused people brain damage from taking their visions, she killed someone.. I wouldn't call these things 'oopsies,' let alone comparing it to "getting mad at your parents for not buying you ice cream."

    shoutout my nigga, gorou.
