  1. The tails have multiple meanings. Yae is a Kitsune and it is Said that kitsune grow more tails with a maximum of nine. When a kitsune Gas Nine tailes she gains the status of a god.

  2. The three Yae Miko’s may link to the fact that no one really knows the true Yae Miko (if I remember correctly) and so the three Miko’s may represent that

  3. I think her character art said something about her hiding her true self by acting like different versions of herself ,so I think that’s why three Yaes are shown.

  4. The kitsunes get More tails as they grow older mighty and wise and the "kyubi no kitsune" it's when one of this foxes reach the 9 tales (Max Tails) They only reach 1000 years at this stage so you are correct that yae is has only 5 because she is 500 years old

  5. I remember that in Yoimiya’s Quest, she mentioned something about how Yae Miko appeared in different places at the same time…could that be the reason why there were 3 Yae Miko’s?

  6. Inazuma is the land of Threes

Third Nation, Three Yae, Three notable kitsune, Three Commissions, Three Raiden (Ei, Shogun, Makoto), Three big hands (Raiden boss), and more

  7. i think the three Yae represent her three "Personality" which is the Shrine Maiden of the Grand Narukami Shrine Guuji Yae, the Novelist Yae Miko, and the always so-horny Miko
Edit: Also i realized that Yoimiya had talk about Seeing multiple Yae, so that's something

  8. I remember yoimiya's voice line about yae miko. I think the 3 yae miko in trailer are her twin or something identical her. And the scene where she in the shrine and scene where she's with the samurai enemy are different yae miko's body or something.

Sorry for my bad english hope you get my point.

  9. The three Yaes could be because she has three charges of her elemental skill, as we now see in the demo, but I think it extremely likely that it does have some deeper symbolism.

And if the lore of the Pokemon Ninetales is accurate to real-life myths and legends, Kitsune do indeed gain one tail for ever hundred years, and at a thousand years their fur turns white or gold in color, depending on moral alignment(I think white for benevolent kitsune and gold for malevolent). It's been a long, long time since I read that, however, so I recommend checking kitsune legends for yourself.
