  1. Whenever something's new in Genshin people tend to see "That's the best thing yet in Genshin"
Nah bro you gotta appreciate the old ones too. Hype trailer, but not the best. In fact, all of them are the best! XD

  2. The composer that's leaving didn't work on Fontaine by the way. He let others do it to make sure they were okay before he left. At least that's what I've been told from a reliable source.

DUDE there's so much going on in 4.1! Ever since completing the first 2 Acts i have SO many questions that need answering. The story quests in Fontaine are SO effing good it's crazy to me! Literally ANXIOUS.
    I. NEED. ANSWERS.

  4. remembers how hoyoverse will start getting real dark and killin playable characters with "water element" as their opening. No wonder after hydro archon is pyro archon.

  5. Here's what I think, regarding the Ascension Quest changes. I think it's hard for the core bubble of players to understand what the experience is like for both new players in this current era of content density, as well as what the spectrum of experiences are and how many people are having those different experiences.

I keep an eye on new players from time to time and boy do they struggle with the elemental/party swap playstyle. While most folks are likely to get used to it eventually, Ascension Quests gate access to story content, and people are eager to get to the newest, hypest stuff. If a player is struggling to adapt to the playstyle, has not acquired many characters, or has no clue how properly building their characters works (let alone been diligently spending their resin in order to do so), they may end up stuck. While it's fair to say, "being blocked as such means you should pause to learn the systems better," that's not necessarily helpful for new player retainment. If a new player is struggling and sees an obstacle like this preventing them from progressing in the content that drew them to the game in the first place, they're much more likely to put it down and never pick it back up.

Following some of my above remarks, there's a silent majority of players of this game that are not engaging with the community or try-harding. Seeing just how many semi-engaged streamers who play Genshin barely log in between streams makes me wonder how many casual players are the same way. This means that "grind progress" is not being made between dedicated play. Thus, the game is NOT easy for those players.

I think this is what creates the disconnect. According to the devs, there are players actually struggling. They're literally telling us, "the gulf of experiences in this game is so wide that while you think the game is too easy, there are other players who are having a hard time." Genshin is a game being designed to appeal to a casual audience, and so those players must be considered as well, especially if they want to retain that audience. To me, the idea behind this change is making sure players aren't being arbitrarily gated from progressing the story because they don't have units built of the proper elements for a given challenge along with the understanding on how to properly utilize them. Better to let the game become more difficult and give a less aggressive but persistent motivation to learn the systems. It's not like they're adjusting the difficulty of the World Levels, just the Ascension Quests. It just means that they feel the Ascension Quests were more difficult than the difficulty of the WL on the other side.
