[3.4] The Lore of Lantern Rite – Genshin Impact Speculation

This year’s lantern rite celebration was all about Guizhong and the adepti of the Guili Assembly. Her story definitely doesn’t end here.

  1. Although I had a timeline for Xiao's life and I concluded he had to be older than they say, I always thought he killed Guizhong following order of his former master so seeing him there in the video with his hero clothes also destroyed my theory hahah

And talking about Zhongli…. I LOVE how every little detail about his design speaks about grief, from his own name, Menogia's clothes, his line about the wine, the rock-puzzle… So each day is even more fitting that his archon mission was about saying goodbye, even his 2 character quest are about grief (havria and their people, Azhdaha…). I don't know what to think about the Rite of Parting being for Guizhong, but having Grief (or Overcoming grief/Honoring the death) as the main theme of Zhongli, It is quite possible that his contract with the Taritsa is related yo this.

    Thank you for the video!

PS: I thought the SAME about Guizhong's place of death! It HAS to be there, even with the yaskhas columns to keep watch of the miasma!!! (TELLING that to complete this quest you needed to update all Morax statues.,…)

  2. the saturn time moon matrix cycle wich is symbolozed EXTERNSIVLY in genshin. seems like in this universe that archons got stuck in there own saturn matrix cube system and now dont even realize themselves what they are stuck in. makes sense it be the cube matrix as you were stuck in the cube by the unknown boobed dickless "god" (not godess forwhatever reason)

  3. Also, remember that Baizhu looks like Pantalone, Dottore had clones, and Scaramouche is a clone. For all we know, the Fatui might just be full of clones, possible Childe as well lol. I wonder if there are more things going on behind the scenes of the Fatui that we don't know about.

  4. Totally agree with the end thoughts on the lantern rite as a whole. It was fun, but apart from the guizhong lore, it felt kind of…underwhelming? I like seeing stuff with reoccurring npcs like ping and cloud retainer, but it really did seem like the playable characters showed up just to leave. Maybe we’ll get guizhong and zhongli lore in an actual story quest…? [holding on to the thinnest strand of hope]
Not entirely sure I agree with the “older women like this perfume, ergo it must have been for guizhong” thing. If memory serves, the silk flowers for that particular perfume [fate’s yearning] were originally from jueyun karst or somewhere around there [“cloud-ringed peaks”] so it made sense to me that an adeptus would lean more towards perfume made from flowers around their home.
Pleasantly surprised that the theory with sandrone here wasn’t “sandrone IS guizhong” but rather that she has a body that LOOKS like her. VERY excited for fontaine to find out if it’s more like a scaramouche parallel where she was created specifically in the image of guizhong, or if it’s somewhere closer to the herrscher of domination in honkai with the whole “stealing bodies of its victims to make puppets out of” thing. Either way maybe she and pantalone should make a “clone of a liyue character” support group

  5. does anyone find it sus that when venti said "Seeds of story, brought by the wind…" paimon unconsciously completes the line by saying "…and Cultivated by time" while putting her hand on her chest. anyone knows what that's about?
also "Seeds of Stories, Brought by the Wind…" is an achivement when we go to the nameless secret island on right side of mond, with stuff related to god of time

  6. It might sound odd, but what if Khaenri'ah Curse is not a curse but a side-effect of killing gods? We know from the God of Salt, the death of a god create a huge impact on living beings, and from Orobashi, Guizhong and the Goddess of Flower corpse of gods are extremely hazardous to the environment, such as Sumeru turning into a desert, weird darkish soil and clouds in Liyue, beasts around Orobashi. As far as we know, the game has 4 types of Khaenri'ah people as enemies;
    1) Hilichurl family
    2) Abyss Order (Hydro Heralds, Pyro and Electro Abyss Lector)
    3) Abyss Mage (Hydro, Cryo, Pyro, Electro)
    4) Knights in the chasm (Cryo, Pyro, Hydro)

And we all know that Archons went to Khaenri'ah and participate in the war. Hydro, Pyro, Cryo and Electro Archons have died, which is almost some elements with current Abyss Order power.
What if Khaenri'ah, actually won the war and killed 4 Archons who were representing Eternity, Justice, War, and Love? Oddly enough, the curse made them have eternal life, they're searching for justice for what happened, they're at war with both themselves and living beings as well as Celestia, and they do not have any love towards both themselves or any living beings. What if the impact of dying 4 Archons create a complex effect on Khaenri'ah people and turned into them eternal loveless mad creatures who want justice or who had encountered injustice situation? The God of Salt turned her people into salt statues, Goddess of Flower destroyed Sumeru after or during their death. So, if four archons who died during the war and who are representing four ideals created shock waves and a mixture of those waves made to occur this so-called curse. At least what I think 🤔 😅 I got this thought after this video

  7. My problem with you mentioning the phoenix is that there is a difference between the Western Greek Phoenix and the Eastern Chinese Phoenix. Both immortal birds are very different although the image of both has been merged over the years due to Westernization.

The Greek Phoenix is the classic fire bird that represents the cycle of death and rebirth. The whole Phoenix emerging from the ashes is this bird.

The eastern Chinese Phoenix or Fenghuang represents balance and unity. It is often depicted as two birds merging into one, a male and female. It has the qualities of multiple different birds and sometimes has qualities of different animals like snakes and turtles. It also has ties to weddings which is why some Chinese restaurants that also act as parlors (usually dim sum places as well) for Chinese weddings will have depictions of two birds on their walls.

Both are depicted as birds with colorful feathers. But are two very different birds. The Greek has the western idea of immortal, a being that never dies. While the Chinese has the celestial immortal, the heavenly court, supernatural beings transcend the mortal realm (the adepti, the illuminated beasts).

  8. If your theory that the 9 pillars of peace is really Guizhong's tomb is true, I want there to be a scene where you tell Zhongli/the adepti about the ring and their response is "you sold the WHAT to WHO for HOW MUCH?"

  9. I'm mindblown. I was appreciating the story about adepti. Now I see so much more thanks to this video. Then, so much interesting thoughts about Rite of Parting etc. Thank you.

  10. Hey I was wondering if I was the only one who felt like the interaction between venti and paimon during the Hu Tao dinner was kind odd? I don't remember very well if there was another moment where venti used this phrase with the traveler during a quest or event but I do remember that the phrase he used during his entrance in that scene is related to the Time island in northwest of Mondstadt. "The seeds of stories brought by the wind and cultivated by time"

  11. The rite of parting theory makes sense because of Guizhong and Zhongli's names, The 歸 in Guizhong means to return and the 離 in Zhongli means to depart, quite the opposite when the Rite of PARTING is for Guizhong and the Rite of Descension is for Morax where he RETURNS to Liyue and his people to give guidance.

  12. that's the danger of making theory video, it stuck to people who are lazy to read the game lore and text.

that's how misinformation spread in genshin community, like there are people who believe zhongli is the winner of the archon war, not one of the winners but the winner and all other archons serve him like seriously wtf.

these people likely never read the game story and just skip everything and then they just watch youtube theories and straight believe them as canon lore.
