[2.8] Sumeru & Dreams, Sumeru Speculations – A Genshin Impact Theory

SPOILER WARNING-
This video assumes you are 100% up to date on all quests in game as of v2.8. If you don’t like spoilers, you probably shouldn’t watch this until you catch up.

Oddly enough half of this was supposed to be for my Golden Apple Archipelago video, and then the latest teaser dropped so I ended up merging them. Weird how they ended up slotting together so nicely!

Some somewhat disconnected thoughts about Sumeru based on the teasers and other things we know thus far.

  1. I would like to share an interesting relation:
Anahita goddess has origins with the goddess Saraswati in Hinduism, who is the goddess of music, rivers but most importantly, wisdom and knowledge. Also, orobashi was actually inspired from goddess benzaiten, who is infact goddess Saraswati but different name.

  2. What a great video šŸ™‚ After hearing all that, my pick for the "heart" of teyvat is the original dendro archon… With Sumeru being the nation of wisdom (i.e. likely has access to the void archives or something similar), its location as the center of teyvat, and Kusanali's association with dreams and her ability to create things based on dreams/memories/data, it just seems like too many coincidences not to be true

  3. Just calling it now, Al-Haitham is Greater Lord Rukkhadevata. He is Su from Honkai's expy and Su's codename is "Bodhi". The Bodhi Tree is the "tree of awakening", it's a sacred tree in India. I also think this might be the tree that Dottore is burning in the teaser. And Bodhi Puja is the ritual to worship the tree and it's deity that resides on it, and who is that deity you might ask? Well it's literally Rukkhadevata, of course.

  4. That's an amazing video, Ashikai. Your theory on this dreamer at the heart of Teyvat reminded me of H.P Lovecraft's Azathot, a god whose is in a perpetual state of slumber and his dreams consist of our universe. Once he wakes up, all of it will cease to exist. I think there might be some interesting connections to Lovecraft's work in this theory and in genshin lore in general.

  5. Wait a second
    SPOILERS
    and Theory…

Ley Line Trees exist not only in Genshin impact but also in Honkai impact does that mean when Otto Apocalypse turned himself in Ley Line Memorie to construct a new timeline for Kallen, does that mean his Memories, Spirit and Wisdom are now not only in Honkai but also in Teyvat?

So could this mean we could get him as a playable Character in Genshin?
I know he has no body and his Memories and Wisdom could be anywhere but maybe with the art of Kemia and someone who can get Memories and Wisdom/ a methode to get Memories and Wisdom out of the Ley Lines you could bring dead People back to live.

  6. I wanted to point out that characters like Cyno and Kandake (both perhaps from the desert area) are Greek instead of Egyptian or Middle Eastern!

  7. This woman hypes me up to pay attention to my surroundings while playing. When Enkanomiya drop, for this first time… I read all I could found, stare at walls with drawings and stuff. Gameplay, this game could offer so much more but lore… Holy shit, it's fucking amazing and I love the crafters. Can't wait for Sumeru to drop and blow my phone šŸ‘šŸ»šŸ‘šŸ»

  8. I believe Teyvat (which means Ark in Hebrew), is the result of Project Ark from the Previous Era in Honkai Impact. Griseo was sent in a spaceship to fin a suitable world to house humanity, free on Honkai. It would make Griseo the Primordial One. Project Ark contained the DNA blueprints of basically everything. Phanes description fits perfectly Amos a, who was Griseo’s closest friend and protector, and the one who was supposed to travel in Project Ark. Griseo basically sacrificed herself by going into the ship, taking Kosma’s place. Maybe, with her abilities (she could basically manifest whatever she painted), she created a depiction of Kosma, and used it as a Proxi, to hide from the new created world but still be able to guide them.

  9. The only real question to me is if their writing can live up to their lore. I have been VERY underwhelmed with the writing so far, with the exception of one or two quests.

  10. The interesting thing is that one of Khonsu's symbols in a falcon, and during the last event scene we can see Kusanali saying us that she's just a little bird who came to "observe" (there are actually quite little species of falcons)

  11. I know this had nothing to do with the lore and theorizing but I’m so disappointed with the direction H***verse took with Sumeru… as a SWANA/MENA person myself, I’m so disappointed by the lack of representation in skintones and ESPECIALLY with the archon being super bright. They have made entire regions based on singular countries (Mond = GR, Liyue = CH & Inazuma = JP) but clumped up the entire SWANA/MENA region into a singular place… it’s so super disappointed and I honestly can not even say that I’m ā€˜hyped’ for the lore because it has been so disappointing so far, your videos may just spark a little bit of interest in me to continue following the story, as a person who has/had enjoyed Genshin’s lore so far.

  12. I swear every day I am convinced that Celestia and the Primordial one is some sort of Advanced AI system that was created by Humanity in the Honkai universe and sent out with the Arc as one of their last ditch hopes of Humanity's survival

  13. I think I comprehend a good bunch of Genshin lore, but one thing has me a little bit lost. This may sound like a stupid question, but how do 'the unified civilization' and Khanria work in relation to each other? When are they, roughly, on the timeline? If someone has any idea and could explain this to me then that woudl be GREAT

  14. I like to think that the people of sumeru are being fooled because they care so much about getting knowledge and wisdom and all that stuff but if they can't dream they can't get new inspiration, thus they can't create new things and can't create new knowledge, which would be contradictory but well it's if like they would scam theirselves-

  15. You know what would be interesting? If Teyvat is actually the result of Project ARK in Honkai – in other words, Griseo (who according to Elysian Realm logs replaced Kosma in ARK) drew up an entire world after floating in space for some millennia, making her the actual progenitor god of Genshin. It would fit in with Griseo's personality too.

It's a huge far stretch and is probably not even true, but I shall inhale my hopium dammit :p.

  16. The following might contain pedantry. (I'm not sure, but you may have skipped over it just because this isn't a video about visions, but DEAL WITH IT IM PEDANTIC xp)

About halfway through the video, you say 2 things that I think might not be quite fully correct. You say that "visions are the source of elemental power" I hypothesize that they aren't that they actually focus already existing elemental power. Normal people have elemental power (they have dreams and ambitions) but they aren't really focused enough to manifest into 'magical' powers. A vision is a gift from Celestia that allows its bearer to focus their energy to the point where they gain elemental abilities. I'm not sure how Celestia decides who gets one and who doesn't, or whether the pre-existing elemental power comes from the individual, or if it is simply ambient in nature. ANYWAY…

—I think that visions aren't sources but foci, because… 1) we've seen that there can be elemental magic without them, 2) they can be artificially replicated (delusions), and 3) because a certain drunk bard literally used the word 'foci'. Now this ties into the second "inaccuracy" (its only inaccurate if this tinfoil hat hasn't cut off my brain circulation).

—You said we don't know what the function of a Gnosis is. I think we can strongly assume we do know at least one of their functions. They are OMEGA foci. They are just visions, but far more intensely focusing. We have seen that archons can use their powers without them, and without visions. Venti's vision is fake, so he's out here being the best anemo grouper in the game with no gnosis and no vision. Its also fair to say that both in lore and gameplay, the archons are among the strongest elemental wielders in the world, even without their gnoses.

Then, if this is true, then shouldn't an archon with their gnosis be just an absolute **MONSTER**? Well yes, they are. Venti and Zhongli both had the personal desire not to show off while they had their gnoses with them, as both wanted to let their people live free and govern themselves with no god to guide the way. However, we do see evidence of them both being absurdly strong. Venti Gave us true flight, and anemo laser blasts with which to fight a dragon. Guyun stone forest is canonically the result of Zhongli's game of darts with Osial, he literally threw a mountain range like darts, and the Raiden Shogun striking down Orobashi actually clove Yashiori island in half. (Its right there on the map, by where Oro's skull is.)

So its safe to say that visions are foci, and gnoses are foci for people who are already powerful enough to wield the elements on their own, turning them into gods.

Last point on this subject. If visions are foci, then couldn't more visions mean more focus? Like, perhaps a person wielding two visions could create a laser focused enough to rival the power of an archon sans their gnosis? Apparently it can says Kazuha as he becomes the only person in history to actually parry the Musou no Hitotachi. And he did it, while for a brief moment, wielding two visions.

Visions and Gnoses are foci, that sharpen the wielders elemental energy into physical form. You could say it takes their dreams and ambitions and focuses them into a physical form. OOPS THATS THE TOPIC OF THE VIDEO EHE!

  17. The thing that I'm wondering now is transdimensional matter when it comes to the timeline. Think about it. As the main protagonist you have the duty of choice at the start. The whole thesis of this game seems to be merging of parallel timelines. As they can exist in the same space but operate at different frequencies. As the main character you have the negative counterpart with the Abyss.

My general theory now is that the Abyss are successful in merging of the world's under the will of the unknown God. You team up with the positive counterpart from the secondary timeline. Leading to the destruction of khaenri'ah part 2 with Teyvat. Which brings an influential member of the Knights or Favonius (Kaeya) to make his important decision. Take your rightful place or fall like all the others.

Which brings the visual of the great tree of Sumeru falling. Who's to say it's not in this timeline. But a premonition of what's coming.

  18. maybe the thing about children are the only ones can dream and see little creatures or something might be related to why kusanali as an archon is a child

  19. This is just a theory that just came into my head and I would love to get your thoughts on it.

And it goes like, we all know that the traveler can control any element they resonate with and they can use multiple elements in one combo if they want to this is the first point.

the second point the whole time as we play the game we get primo gems that look like stars and after a certain amount we get to make a wish and even unlock a playable character or upgrade one of already owned characters.

and just as the start of the game where both lumine and aether are travelling as stars what if that’s what they are, stars that were given a consciousness and a will and that’s why they can freely do things that are impossible to do.

what if every character we play as are just the traveler copying their star chart literally copying that character as they meet them because so far we haven’t been able to wish for a character that isn’t in the story.

so the traveler meets a character and he resonates with this character copying their looks/characteristics and the more we make wishes the more we get to ā€œunderstandā€ their star chart thus making us more powerful versions of those characters.

and when you make a team of 4 characters that’s just the traveler swapping his ā€œstar originā€ or you can say transforming into the chosen character with their respective element.
