A bit of an out-there theory for you guys this time. Let’s talk about what Death actually is in Genshin, and mull over the possibility that the Harbingers are, in fact, already dead.
It’s really difficult to articulate my thoughts on this subject, so I thought I’d just share what I have so far, and see if any of you can take it places. 😀

The thought about the fact that Childe lost his identity in the Abyss reminds me of the first heir in the battlepass trailer, whose memories also got warped. Also in the battlepass trailer and in the Childe bossfight cutscene the identical cross-shaped eyeglow can be seen, so maybe there is a deeper connection
I remeber a tik tok of the fatui Habingers partying and they ask Childe who newly join how old is he and when they heard his only 21 everyone in party cringe for being so old as childe is younger by them idk 100s of years???
alright so far the theory establishes that to use passed god's abilities through delusion you gotta pass away yourself? so what if that is.the reason they can do it. think about it. living things can use vision. and when you "pass away" you can use delusion, but if you pass away again you will have no memory to give because your memory is long gone. thus we can assume that is how forgotten ones die. by vaporizing or something. i think this theory is good cause it gives us idea of genshin's meta physics which could reveal more stuff. perhaps it can even connect us to how abyss functions.
So basicly youre saying we are all a bunch os sick psychos farming for fragments of dead people to either wear them around or use them as fuel to make other ones stronger? COOL SHIT! 😂

I mean both Childe and Diluc undergone a lost of their innocence to be able to use Delusion.
Also another weird this is how people with no Vision or Not-Traveler kill Hilichurl. Uncle Munehisa (Xudong Quartet) in Daily Comission 'The Gouret Supremos: Extreme Cookery' did kills some Hilichurl and they stay dead as a corpse. Also Xiao in his trailer with a pile of Abyss corpes
Perhaps this is something to do with Traveler's 'Purifying Power' to exorcise them. Something shared with people who practice Thaumeturgy (Shenhe & Chongyun)

1. this is similar to my previous point of view, I felt that Hutao was the only alive person in this world. And why is the church owner a living person because she is constantly dying and constantly reborn, and all the past church masters are her, so Hutao says that she has not seen the past church owner in a place for the espíritus.
2. Maybe Everyone can be a Fatui Harbinger, and maybe the traveler,too. The traveler abandons the previous planet is equivalent to abandoning identity in the past.
3.but if the Fatui Harbinger “Scaramouche” become a boss…he doesn't have a mask….

One think I have noticed because of this theory is
what if casting their identity or rather killing their former/original self is a way to severe their connection to Celestia
I mean according to Mona every person has their fate written in the stars which suggests that their fate is pretty much predetermined with Celestia being the one doing all the determining
Which might be why they're able to easily erase all those ancient Civilizations from existence as they literally hold their strongs it fate

Quite a lot of copium in that theory. First and foremost dont treat the game like its real world or something. Especialy ones that are under chinese censorship. And constantly update every 6 weeks with new stuff so they reuse assets to make it possible.
First the fact of going up in smoke for Treasure Hoarders, they dont just go "poof" they use their smoke bombs and retreat since pg12 forbids killing. The fact that other being jsut go poof or dissapiate into partcles is 100% a random developers choice. Siegnora going up in particles is also a way to make killing character suitable for a children game. Another thing, English translation is thrash and dont base anything around it
…. But aren't fatui enemy death animations (blue-white particle disintegration) the EXACT same as the players characters? Wouldn't this disprove the basis of this theory?
This jumps off the deep end after comparing treasure hoarder and hilichurl/elementals death animations to fatui… which we ourselves share, and then you say it's because they're already dead?
It's pretty clear if we compare the cases of La Signora and Tartaglia the corrupting power of a Delusion might be relative to how much of their own self they've discarded, marking it as a more symbolic requirement.
Tartaglia is largely the same Ajax that fell into the abyss. He has a Vision, and maintains strong ties to his biological family. Using the delusion hurts him significantly but it is somewhat counterbalanced by his vision (no direct evidence but plausible).
La Signora meanwhile had already cast off her previous life when she became the Crimson Witch. It was only after she was about to burn herself out that the Fatui gave her a cryo delusion to bring her back from the brink. So her delusion actually maintained her, but she had no old life so she was not harmed but strengthened by it.
Can we appreciate for a moment that
a) Ashikai makes totally genious theories

b) Genshin's confirmed and possible lore is just insanely well thought out.

I think there is no blood and other stuff with deaths becuase China doesn't allow it. Secondly treasure horders don't die not because of that, because they throw a smoke bomb and retreat
I wonder whaat the difference is between the fatui and the pyro archon, because of the themes of resurrection in Natlan. Maybe that is the true weakness of the Tsarista and the fatui.

And Childe well, first he was ajax, then the abyss happened, and then boom Tartaglia
So essentially they all “changed” identities twice

it could be kind of a safeguard mechanism kind of things? like in order to not be killed after using those power, one need to discard their identity or like wearing a mask to ensure they can continue using the said power, hence it acts as a safe guard mechanism?
