What Happened To The Electro Dragon? | Genshin Impact Theory

Have you ever wondered why the Traveler never got to meet any major Elemental Dragons in Inazuma?
Perhaps the answer is simply because none are left alive… What if Kanna Kapatcir was the Electro Dragon? And if so, then what implications does that hold on her role in the story along with her connection to the moon?

On a side note, Egeria and Kapatcir might have fulfilled similar purposes… Even if Raiden has the Electro Sovereign’s Ancient Dragon Authority.

Thanks for watching!

  1. Inazuma was ahead of its time. Delivered to us undercooked. There are so many great plot points. Even the main archon quest itself is great if you sit down piece everything together on your own. And that's the problem, the in-game delivery of the archon quest was so half baked (Ok I'll stop with the puns.)

  2. This video came about as a byproduct of several other videos I am currently working on… Consider it a collection of things I was going to throw away. With that being said, I have always wanted to make a video about Kapatcir so I am glad either way.

  3. What about the electro authority? Does Ei has it? Makoto should have been to one receiving it, but then she died in khaeri’ah, did Ei took it? If yes when she discarded her physical body and built the Raiden shogun shouldn’t the authority be freed like what happened when Foçalor died? Or is the authority inside the sacred Sakura, then due to the time loop shenanigans for the first loop did the electro authority just vanished from Teyvat for 500 years? Or the authority has just been sealed all this time inside the corpse of the electro dragon beneath Kannazuka and is not in use?

  4. I would love to see what you would have to say about the nature of elemental beings like Slimes and Seelies, how if they adapt to whichever element is in their environment then they must have a nonelemental base form, and where they came from.

  5. I agree with the idea that the moon is a mirror to reflect something. But I have a feeling it's not as straightforward as "oh, the "Ruler of the World" just reflects these beasts to flex its power and keeps its rule."
because yeah it feels like you jumped a few step on "why was Kapatcir there, in the first place?" She was not a vengeful creature originally, reminder. Also the Tsurumi Island lore has this Lady of the Golden Hall boat myth in one of its hidden achievements.

Aka you could have gone deeper on finding out who was playing the role of "Iresu", in Genshin.

  6. 0:55 The Spiral Abyss moon is the same as the moon of Tevat (ie the Terrestrial Moon of Earth) except it's been rotated and you're seeing about half of the near side and half of the far side of the moon. This is (only) possible to see from space because of the way the Moon always faces the Earth with the same face. Therefore the Spiral Abyss is in space a little way out. Not far. About 250,000 miles. Level 12 skips the moon altogether so it may be a little further out past the orbit of the moon.

As far as I know all depictions of the moon in Teyvat are the Terrestrial Moon, including in the manga. But watch out for the rotations and the far side (dark side) of the moon. I think that only happens with the Spiral Abyss but I haven't really looked at the red moon in Ei's domain.

It's possible the Tsurumi island mural is an eclipse, but it's probably just a stylized moon.

I agree that the evidence says Kapatcir was a dragon. Several pieces of evidence beyond what you said in fact. But I've talked about that before.

About 2 years ago I wrote an article about how weird the shadows are on Tsurumi before you clear the fog. You can Google it with "Hoyolab Something's odd about Tsurumi's shadows". Basically it just recorded the facts (with photos). Tsurumi's shadows don't track with the position of the sun or moon like the rest of Teyvat. That stops after the fog is lifted. At that time I noted "I can't think of any sort of astronomical explanation of what is going on down there. Given that we can't even see any sun or moon it's possible Tsurumi has completely different stuff in it's sky".

About 1 year ago I revisited the topic (Google "Hoyolab The Thunderbird was the sun and the moon for Tsurumi").

It turns out the shadows are consistent with a big bright light source that regularly flies back and forth between Tsurumi and Seirai island.

Not really following why you think Kapatcir couldn't be the sovereign. Not that it matters much. She appears to be as old as human beings as a species so she was probably around before the Primordial One, but of course that doesn't mean she is the Sovereign. But nothing appears to rule it out.

10:09 Don't you think that Kapatcir would remember who "she" was if "she" was her direct superior? And wouldn't Kapatcir remember the name her direct superior bestowed on her? The story is that Kapatcir has no use if a name and had no use for the person who named her. This alone is another proof she is not a god by the way as gods all have (several) names. Gods care about stuff like names. Dragons don't. Kapatcir doesn't even use Dvalin's name when referring to their meet-up.

10:38 since the Sacred Sakura doesn't even exist until 500 years ago in the old timeline I feel like it would be suppressing Abyss stuff from the Cataclysm. That is it's function after all. History did change so the Sacred Sakura is now 1000s years old but I doubt it's sealing anything different and even then 1000s of years isn't really that long ago. Could be some old defeated god from the Archon war, like the stone spikes that seal Osial.

By the way before you draw a connection between Oceanids and the Electro prescence thing on Seirai reads the latter's archive description. They're not connected or similar in nature.

  7. There's this Neuvi voiceline: "This realm dismantled was of the Formidable Father himself, but what now reigns here is a cluster of filthy feathers." Kinda similar to Kanna's feathers.
The whole thing with the Tsurumi island quest maybe is subtly about Khaenri'ah if you match up the events with black serpent knights dialogue (apparently a stone falls, there's a curse, they plan to "spill blood"…). It's also pretty similar to the Unreconciled Stars event. After Kanna gets killed she becomes a "coalescence of regret" as the Thunder Manifestation which looks like… an oceanid? But this does make sense with the "sinner" crystal if you think back to Mond where "stolen tears" is in the Eclipse tribe and the chest is all the way up on a pedestal.
The thing about "swans emerged" is about Egeria scheming and Furina + Arlecchino, check the swans around Fontaine. We didn't get the whole truth about Furina straight up but there's a lot of evidence for her being some kind of melusine hybrid something in the deeper lore. Pretty much: Elynas + Erinnyes + Egeria = Furina and Nibelung + Narz Ordo + Hexenzirkel N = Arlecchino. Fischl + Oz = Furina + Arlecchino. "Beast of The World: Saint of Seven Tears" is /also/ about Egeria scheming if you check the L'Chanson Erinnyes book. The thing with dreams though is that it's being heavily implied they're all currently in a dream world. The thing with ravens and curses comes from HYV using the anime Princess Tutu as inspiration, this might even be the origin for Ruu's name being named after the character Rue.

  9. hey i hope you see this.
in 4.5 mondstat event there is a 4* weapon named "Principles of equilibrium"
i did a little research in Google and i find a book named "equilibrium: foundation of alchemy, the principle of universal equilibrium"
there is so many interesting in it like:
"the Damon as a creature with divided spirit"
"the elementary spirit opened to destruction"
"the beast the dragon the victim "
    "the spirit of unclean creature"
    and more…
all of this reminds me of Rhinedottir
    what is your opinion?
(sorry because of bad English tho)

  10. I have a theory. I think that three of the dragons (Geo, Anemo, and Hydro) are supposed to represent Behemoth, Ziz, and Leviathan, the biblical beasts said to show up on Judgement Day. That leaves four dragons left, and if we figure out the theme of those dragons then we can sort out what the remaining dragons represent. (For the first three: Behemoth is a Bull, and both Azhdaha and the demon Morax are bulls. Leviathan is a sea serpent and Neuvilette makes many references to a Day of Judgement for the gods in his dialogue. And Ziz is a giant griffin-shaped bird, aka quadrupedal with talons, wings on its back, and a beak – just like Dvalin.)

That leaves four dragons, and there are two possibilities I can think of – the "Four Living Creatures" that hold up the throne of God, or the "Four Auspicious Beasts" from Chinese mythology. While the first would be more thematic, I think that the four shades of the Priomordial One are much closer to the Four Living Creatures, both for their relationship to the Primordial One and because they live in Celestia, aka Heaven, which fits because the Four Living Creatures are often described as the angels Michael (the lion-headed), Raphael (the human-headed), Uriel (the ox-headed), & Gabriel (the eagle-headed).

Another reason I think that the Four Auspicious Beasts are good fits for the remaining dragons is because Apep is a giant serpent with plant powers, and that's literally one of the auspicious beasts. The Azure Dragon of the East, Qinglong, is a serpentine dragon of the Wood element. And with a fit that direct, I think that the remaining three dragons that we haven't seen yet will match as well. Here's my idea for how they fit:

    – Dendro Dragon: Azure Dragon of the East, Qinglong. Wood element, Spring season – I already described why.

    – Cryo Dragon: Black Tortoise of the North, Xuanwu. Water element, Winter season – Although the black tortoise is normally water, combining water with winter makes for an easy fit for the Cryo element of ice. (Also, the Black Tortoise is often depicted with a snake for a tail, which I feel fits for a draconic design.)

    – Pyro Dragon: Vermillion Bird of the South, Zhuque. Fire element, Summer season – This one is self explanatory, but I want to point out that it's often conflated with the Phoenix. And the story for Natlan has a lot of imagery around birth and rebirth, which fits really well with a phoenix symbol.

    – Electro Dragon: White Tiger of the West, Baihu. Metal element, Fall season – This is the last one, but it fits somewhat well. Metal is magnetic, meaning it can be manipulated with electricity. In Japan the beast is known as Byakku and is associated with wind and storms, and is often depicted with lightning powers. (Such as in the game Okami.) Metal is also used for making swords, so it fits for a land where swords and weapons of war are important symbols. The tiger is also a guardian of the afterlife who protects the souls of the dead, which if it's sealed by the tree would fit, since the tree houses memories of the dead within the leyline juice in it's roots.

That's my theory for the remaining dragon sovereigns, as well as a short idea about the possible thematic symbolism behind the Four Primoridal Shades.

  12. 12:03 I don't know if I misunderstood something from this, but this is my interpretation:
Basically, Wings of Merciful lore reminded me of Ei having Scaramouche, but since he was sentient, she let him slumbered and made another of herself to place her eternity will (Raiden shogun)

Now, of course it doesn't had to be 1 on 1 (but I really think about it)
(+ The game keep denying Vishap's credibility, Idk why)

12:49 I also have other thoughts for this case: Durin and Primordial Albedo. Which gave me an idea about Deshret and Apep's case. Also Dvalin (when Abyss mage said that Barbatos lying and wished him to rot instead) < Those generally also involved eating, in my theory 🤔(although I may missed the bone part 🙏)

12:05 Also this is the part I keep thinking about: This really reminded me of our abyss sibling suddenly appeared in Khaenr'ah (Not saying if that's really the case but I wonder what's other explanation of this would be)

  13. Ok, ok, this is a very new theory I just had
1:49 The moon has a hole, do you know what it reminds me of? The Musk Reef

..Mostly because the hole probably would be spiral abyss but also maybe it has it's own lore before that I don't know about (I played since ver 2.0 🙏)

  14. You know that paradise lost feather looks like kanna's feather. Also if i remember correctly she flew with wind dragon (i don't remember where this lore came from, but i know it's from somewhere in tsurumi island)

  15. If Kapatcir was the Electro Dragon Sovereign, it means that Ei, when she was just a Kagemusha and doesn't even have the Electro elemental authority yet, was able to kill a Dragon Sovereign… Hmmm i don't think so…

  16. Now, I was thinking that Orobashi might have been the Electro Dragon, since it's Orobashi's body that seems to produce the crystal marrow that gets used in things like delusions… however, I haven't really done a lot of Genshin research. Thoughts?

  17. hmm… if the seelies are like the oceanids and made from the remains of dragons, i think anemo would be the most fitting considering their frequent association with barbatos, and how angelic his archon appearance is.
