  1. I don’t care if some find it funny, every time I see a recommended AI cover of a song, my anger triples, on top of the art community’s pain as well. Why would anyone listen to a cheap, emotionless “vision” of someone singing something they haven’t sung? Just like someone would rather stare at a spectacular art created by a robot enough to discredit actual artists? Why? It sucks so much, I’ve seen it everywhere, people are losing it.

  2. AI is such a blessing for us, coders. Helps to save shit ton of time on some basic easy stuff that you can easily do yourself. In an artistic domain, tho? Hell no. I'm a big music and drawings enjoyer. AI covers for some songs are funny when it used for the memes but can you Imagine the whole group being AI(voice, BGM, instruments, TEXTS) and sound worse than a cheap vocaloid? It's just terrible. AI in drawings shouldn't be allowed at all. Right now you can easily differentiate AI from an artist but give it 5 years or even less and you won't see any differences. That's how fast It's progressing. And if artists will always be needed cuz even AI can't replicate the randomness of a human being. Voice actors would just lose their jobs. You don't need to hire and pay somebody if you can just use their voice anytime you want. It's just disgusting

  3. bruh you have no idea what youre talking about. Theres a reason why AI is being used. Did you even research how people are butchering the translations from jp to en etc? This is why the AI thing took root. Its literally the VAs fault who could not do their job correctly.

  4. I want to believe that AI voice acting will find its niche in industry, not completely replacing living people.
One of the most amazing opportunities, that AI voice can bring to game industry in particular is mmo games. NPCs to be exact. Like for example, I play Elder scrolls online where all NPCs are voiced, no matter how small their quest is. And there are vampires and werewolves players and also necromancer class. In open world NPCs of same classes are mostly bad. And so when you are playing as a necromancer+vampire in one character and when you finish some random quests and in closing dialog NPC starting ranting about how bad any of them are, I would really like an option to say "Hey, I am one too, you know, and I helped you.". Also I think most of the players know, that in the world of Elder scrolls people can be racist quite often towards each other. Not crazy racist, but they can comment some stereotype things. So a bit different reaction depending on NPC's character and race towards the player and the race they play as would also bring life into this mmo. But we dont get things like this, because there will be thousands of different reaction to hundreds of quests, and as a result budged for VA to voice all of this will skyrocket and I dont think VAs can voice thousands of frazes 24/7. Thats where AI voices will be perfect. They can take these small bits and mimic VA's voices to add these reactions to the game. That would make the immersion ten times better.

  5. I don't know much about you unionizing but i know but i know it takes signatures and you can go directly through the company or The National Labor Relations Board but that’s the most I know

  6. In someplaces the state only recognizes one union of a trade in a given territory. So if the union is corrupt you need to legaly prove the coreuption so they are expelles and a new union administration is elected.
But ypu lust remember the only power a union have is the bargain of its wokrforce, se there is a way to replace that force aoutside the union, it has no power. Making sure the VAs were paid their personality rights bu "selling the voice" could ba the best they could do.
On the other hand, game size is becoming a problem and ai voice use could help minimazing game sizes by adding in the files a voice generator instead of voice files. Cutting vas wages isnt the sole drive to ai use.
In the end when did innovati9n resulted in lesser workload under capitalism?

  7. For context, the US has been spreading anti-union propaganda for decades to take away public support of union strikes and disincentivizing joining unions. Corporations have spent billions to dismantle union protections under US law so people can't file grievances. This has always been the end game of capitalists. They want to automate labor so they don't have to pay wages. What these morons don't understand is when all jobs are automated, no one will have jobs and therefore no money to buy the products these greedy corporations are producing.

  8. Evolve or die, sadly this has always been the case. If only the world was not run by those who want the strongest and richest above all, maybe it would put less emphasis on needing to make the most money to impress the most beautiful among us.

  9. at most, i think AI voices in genshin would be cool, except only if all the voice actors approve! i don't think it should be used for full quests, the only thing i can see it being used on is to say the travellers username instead of just "Traveller", but even then all the voice actors would have to approve first for their voices to be used in an AI.

  10. I think people often forget that AI isn't some limitless creation. In fact, even if you train it, it will still NOT create, but repeat the same things. Companies who will rely on the said AI will eventually fail seeing as people will get bored of the same thing over and over again. The reason AI generated music even works cause theres a human behind it. Same thing with everything else. As much as people are worrying. Ai at the end of the day is just a machine that does what it taught it wont be able to replace the human aspect. Not in the long run. Even if you feed it alot of info and train it. It by itself won't move forward, unlike a human will.

  11. Bran it’s not an issue of “I feel like”. It’s just stupid. Why go through the stupidity of forming a business contract with a random person to have AI generate their voice. Pay them. Have them do nothing other then sit back and relax. There’s no effort in play. Infect this just pushes people further into the mental state of a vegetable. Why involved so many parties together when it can just be the VA and that business that requires them. So much simpler and less consequential

  12. many people doesn't really care about this like in Asmongold stream, people doesn't really care about voice actor and that's sad since most of them in the stream think its better…Bruh News anchor from my country start to get replaced by AI like in harry potter Gym Video

  13. at this point just let the fucking AI make the games and story. What are we even talking about? This shit shouldn't even be in the conversation. Let voice actors do their jobs. Art is strictly linked to human creativity, voice acting included, an AI generated voice will never be on the same level as ACTUAL VAs, it cannot convey emotions as well as humans can. I fell like explaining this would only be right if I was telling an actual toddler, but we're talking about living breathing adult unethical dumb blind scrooges. As someone who is looking forward to becoming a voice actor in the future, this is absolutely revolting. I'd be more than happy to donate if they ever do create a gofundme. I truly hope this madness will somehow stop. #fucksagaftra

  14. The thing about this controversy is that the union has to work out some kind of contract because companies want to use ai at least a little. if sag-aftra just says no in general a lot of companies (maybe not the bigger ones) will try to get voice actors that are not part of sag-aftra. these will be mostly new voice actors that are struggling to get a foot in the door and that might not benefit from the protections that a union grants them cause they can’t get a job within it so they might decide to not join and use the fact that companies are looking for non-union-members. So what sag-aftra has to do is create a contract where voice actors can willingly decide to let their voices be used for ai and have union protections that keep companies from abusing them. this is also from what i understand (i didn’t read the contract, just some statements from union leaders so i don’t know what exactly is in it) also what they where aiming for with the contract and focusing on consent and compensation, which i think are the two main issues. the fact that most people criticizing this are not talking about what is in the contract and how it potentially should be different but are instead talking about how the problem is that there is a contract at all kind of shows that these people don’t want a solution.
    tl:dr
unions cannot completely stop the use of ai (example: after the strike went on for a long time some studios tried to get non-union actors and writers so they could continue production) so i think it is good when they try to regulate it.

  15. Omg, I can see the loopholes coming, dude it already happens with music and videos, you just need to pitch down or up the voices so that it sounds like certain people without actually being the thing, so what makes you think they are not just gonna start using not licensed voices under the excuse that "it is not the real person"

Also, just think, this studios can just start harrassing their employees into "consenting" to this, since, in the end, they are the ones benefiting from this.

  16. Here's a chart about how companies will use AI : Does the VA accept to have their voice used.
Yes > Use the AI voice.
No > Use the AI voice, and sue them to oblivion if they try to stop you.

  17. I could laugh at a couple of Ai spider man videos, but I find it a bit freaky that their voices sound accurate in some way, I think. Ai voices just feel like cookies with a decently batch that has similar ingredients. Though, even if actors don't approve Ai to use their voices, it isn't a choice since most people use them for entertainment purposes, and no one would give their consent of strictly not to use their voices. Truthfully speaking, I could say it's dope in some videos with VA's of different characters, but I think I kind of disagree if this could potentially replace actors from companies or something else. Plus, Ai just happens to develop and improve even more. Just know that acting and art is skill/talent, not by a robot. And I think I agree with Ai being used for good instead of the opposite.
