Alhaitham Speculation | Genshin Impact Lore

With the third Sumeru teaser trailer out showing the new characters, al-Haitham caught my eye and sent me down a rabbit hole of research. This video is analysing what little we have of his character so far and speculating on what it could mean for the future. Take it all with a grain of salt as I’m likely wrong on a few things but there’s too much interesting stuff going on with him to not share what I found. Also if I’ve mispronounced any names or words let me know in the comments, I did my best but there’s probably something I messed up somewhere.

Since this is mainly speculation too, let me know any wild theories or ideas you’ve got about al-Haitham or Sumeru in general in the comments as there’s a lot to talk about just from the 3 teaser trailers we’ve had so far.

(Btw, Diluc lore video is basically done but I’ve got a feeling the end of his event will add something to his story that I’ll want to include. I thought we’d be getting the event weeks and weeks earlier than we did but it should be over soon and the video will be up not long after. Sorry for the wait!)

  10. i’ll be honest, i wish alhaitham was the dendro archon. if he was, i’m sure he would beat raiden and kazuha sales…but i understand making it nahida since based on the community’s reaction it was her only saving grace.

    i think they changed the gender from male to female for the dendro archon because they chose a female child vessel and there is no playable male child character. but i still think alhaitham plays a role of high ranking to nahida similar to sara to the shogun and ganyu and xiao to morax.maybe he’s her bodyguard or he channels the system and keeps everyone in the “hive mind”. i think nahida is basically collecting everyone’s memories and desires or what they want to learn about the most and transporting them to the leylines for unknown reasons or so they don’t get in trouble with celestia. they can learn knowledge but there’s certain things they can’t touch, like the dark side of celestia.

    i also think she is a creation of celestia itself, because there’s no way a one year old could take the status as an archon unless they wanted someone who knew nothing about how evil they are and the cataclysm. too bad the cryo archon knows-

  11. Al-Haitham looks like Su. In the Second Key manga Su mentioned something called The Seed of Sumeru. Might just be a coincidence but we know Teyvat is a bubble universe of Honkai’s universe

  21. Hi! very interesting channel. I’m from Russia n I don’t always understand the idea without subtitles) But I noticed that YouTuber Pochi (Почи) completely copies your videos, adding only frames from the game in Russian and a couple of arrows. How do you feel about it? It would be nice if she left a link to the original source, but there is no such thing. So I subscribe to you as the source.
    Edit. this seems to be the only video, she also had a video about the connection of hypostases with archons, but there the text and some frames were from another channel

  27. LORE SPECULATION: May Contain Spoilers on Sumeru Story Quest!!!

    To all of those pulling for Alhaitham, I hope you pull him! 🤞

    With the recent Sumeru story quest, I think there are 3 possibilities. I’m placing my predictions here and going to see what happens in the game. 🙂

    1. He could be working for a higher authority in the Akademiya, or working directly for Kusanali herself like Yae Miko for Ei or Xiao for Zhongli. Personally, I think this is most likely the case… but who knows?

    2. He could be working for the Fatui, just like Childe. That would explain his shifty actions with taking the Divine Knowledge Capsule…

    3. This one is a bit of a reach, but I’m really fascinated by the idea of Alhaitham being a former Dendro archon… The heavily-devout Eremites mentioned the “Skarlet King,” who seems to be a god of Sumeru who was undermined by the Greater Lord Rukkhadevata. Could he be pulling a “Zhongli” and giving up his power for Kusanali? I think this is a bit out there, but it’s worth mentioning.

  32. My theory is Alhaitham is a clone of Dottore which is why he’s so secretive and looks for knowledge about the divine. I detail I noticed is that if you look carefully under Alhaitham’s grey hair you can see a tint of Dottore’s hair colour

  35. Not to mention that he was able to read ancient scarlet king script! He passed it off as it being required to graduate from the Akademiya but he just sounded a little suspicious when he said that.

  36. I truly believe he's reincarnation of Scartel King or somehow connected to this god. TOO MANY coincidences…

    1. Eyes
    In short cutscene in archon quest when we were introduced to Deshret story we can see something like an eye. And it wouldn't be so special if not the fact that Alhaitham has THE SAME shape and colours in his eyes like the one of Scarlet.

    2. Name
    Scarlet King was son of the skies. And what comes to mind when you think about sky? Cloudes and BIRDS. And "Alhaitham" means "young eagle".

    3. Horus eye on his clothes
    On his headphones and one part of his clothes you can literally see "Hours Eye". And as we know Scartel King was showing as this egyptian God. Also Hours eye is symbol of reborn and coming back to health.

    4. Too smart for normal human being
    In Nahida'a voiceline about Alhaitham she says that Alhaitham is VERY smart. And we also can see it in the quests. Even Paimon was like "what kind of NORMAL person sees those things?". And let's not forget Deshret was one of smart Gods.

    5. Forbidden Knowledge isn't working on him as on normal human
    During cut scene we can see that Alhaitham can control himself even after using Forbidden Knowledge capsule. He used it AND still had his own mind which allowed him to keep doing the plan. And who was the one who started to put Forbidden Knowledge into Teyvat? King Deshret!

    6. The crystal on Alhaitham's chest
    After Scarlet King's death he left one crystal after. The same-looking crystal that Alhaitham has in his own chest.

    Also he knows Zhongli BUT we don't know if Alhaitham knows that Zhongli is Morax.
