[3.5] Who is the "Sinner"? – Caribert Archon Quest Recap & Analysis (part 2/2) – Genshin Impact

[IMPORTANT]
I’m so sorry you guys, something went wrong with the Youtube upload and there’s about a minute of black screen towards the end. Unfortunately I was too late to catch this before most people watched it and I don’t want to lose their comments. The only “fix” I can do is cut the section out because that’s the only post-release editing Youtube allows, so I have done that. Apologies to channel members since it’s their names that have been cut.

Not quite a full-fledged theory, but too fleshed out to just be considered observations. In part two of the post Caribert Archin Quest recap & analysis, we’ll be talking about the identity of the “Sinner” – and boy or boy, is there a lot to discuss.

  1. *NOTES AND IMPORTANT INFO*

I'm so sorry you guys, something went wrong with the Youtube upload and there's about a minute of black screen towards the end. Unfortunately I was too late to catch this before most people watched it and I don't want to lose their comments. The only "fix" I can do is cut the section out because that's the only post-release editing Youtube allows, so I have done that. Apologies to channel members since it's their names that have been cut.

If you want to know what the little "theory" was, I have included the text from my script here for you to read:

"The Goddess of Flowers – who kinda served as a catalyst for this whole thing – is also a reference to the Queen of Sheba; that much we already covered. But did you know the Queen of Sheba was rumored to be the daughter of a Jinn and a Human?

If the same semi-human status holds true for the Goddess of Flowers, then there’s a very good chance that she was a child that resulted from the union of the Seelie and the Traveler from Afar. If you didn’t know, the Seelie and the Traveler married in the Lunar Palace under the blessing of the Moon Sisters and this union is often cited as the reason why the moons fought each other and died. The Seelie and her Lover were separated and each experienced a memory wipe.

Given that Seelies aren’t permitted to fall in love, you have to wonder if this was the reason behind it – or if the offspring of the two races mixed together created something unwanted by god:

    The Nephilim."

  2. Me and my brother have had this theory for a while now, that the twins are originally from Teyvat but from a different time period (all the wibbley wobbly timey liney stuff aside and before the 7 dragon lords ruled it)before they left to travel.

Since time works differently in space by the time they came back to their home world it had changed drastically to one they didn't recognise and thought of it as a different planet. Since there had be in essence two massive changes.

  3. All well and good, but there is one thing that does not make sense to me and imo this is mentioned far too little: Why did the unknown god treat the sibling different from the traveller? If they were a danger to the current order, both of them should have been put to sleep/killed. There must be a reason why they got separated and then allowed to travel the world or even become one of the rulers(?) of Khaenri'ah. Sorry, but I'm reading Nineteen Eighty Four right now. I just can't imagine that an oppressor would go all "oh, welp" in such a case. 😀

  4. This also reminded me of that theory on reddit that says Deshret and Zhongli are connected (quite interesting theory), and also the simlarities between Aether and Zhongli's designs (that people have pointed out multiple times before). Also a lot of people have pointed out the similarities between Kaveh and Aether's designs, as well as Kaveh and Zhongli, and if you're right that Kaveh might (loosely) represent Deshret then it could be all connected somehow.. unless hoyo design team is lazy in which case they just copy design motifs from one character to another and there's no deeper meaning behind it all lol

  5. I don't think king deshret is as relevant as u are making him out to be.. IMO he's just one of the local gods in one nation like God of Sand and dust is for liyue, orobashi for inazuma etc. We all thought alhaitham was related to deshret because of his design (the crystal in his chest) but it turns out he's just a normal guy so using that crystal as basis that deshret is irmin/Sinner does not hold water anymore

People really thought the voice in Traveler's head was istaroth but it turns out it was only Nicole, a witch from hexenzirkel.

  6. Idk about the whole theory about the similarities to freemasons.. but that's just that I'm a Christian and I've heard alot if rumors about it 😣. Also hoyo stated that things in the game have no relation to things in real life..

  7. Great video !! I saw someone in the comment section questioning why dont the twins have eyes like Dain, because I think that King Irmin is too a descender, and not actually from Teyvat. This just pure speculation, but, Nahida said there are 4 descenders, which do not include our abyss twin. However, I watched Aster's video about the descenders, and there's really no clear candidate for the third descender. If we say that King Irmin and the traveler are related, then, wouldn't it make sense that he is also a descender? King Irmin arrived way before the siblings. My speculation is that their homeland, was well, going through destruction, so he chose to travel to Teyvat. He became king of Khaenri'ah, however, due to Celestia's attack, Irmin asked for his siblings to reunite, and they did. But, the quest did say our twin was from Teyvat, but, I think that that information is just kind of missed by the fatui, or maybe our twin made a deal with them.

  8. Hold up, so there's a possibility we might somehow meet Deshret? I've been thinking about it for awhile now and he just seems too major to just not exist or be dead. We haven't seen what he looks like at all so there must be a reason. He's heavily involved with Khaenri'ah and the abyss and was "sealed". I wouldn't be surprised if he somehow gets free. Also, how is the rock a "Chad"? lmao.

  10. It’s fascinating to see king Deshret’s character match with king Solomon but also with Egyptian god Ra. While he also resembles of Gilgamesh. Especially his obsession for immortality.

  11. so I'm not this far into the quests yet… but I'm ok with spoilers but at 12:53 are you implying that the twins are from the world ? and or rather, that it might not have been one twin who wrote themselves into Irminsul but one who wrote the other out??

  12. Aether and Lumine cannot be natives of Teiwat (and Khaenriah was part of this continent), because it has long been known that they arrived in this world from outside. We don't recognize the architecture of Enkanomiya and Khaenriah as our home. The information in Irminsul about our twin may be false, because as we already know, the information in Irminsul can be changed by someone and is not unconditional. It is quite possible that this was done in order to sow doubts in us about the relationship with our twin. And perhaps because the current twin was created artificially, which may be quite logical with what we know now. Why twin was cold-hearted at the meeting and why she consider Khaenriah as "our homeland".
And another thing: Lilupar called us a prince in exile, which we are supposed to be in fact, but she could just draw a parallel with her experience. And by the way, what does the King of Deshret have to do with it? She loved a completely different character, who was an usually human king and had nothing to do with King Deshret

  13. Clever how they slipped in gaining wisdom/knowledge while upside down in the quest, too since the mechanism reoriented them to the ceiling.

  14. What if Irminsul is a seed from Yggdrasil, Yeah there's nothing mythologically to prove that Yggdrasil have a seedling mostly because Irminsul doesn't exist but imagine, Odin making a new Yggdrasil and does the same thing as Greater lord and thats how King irmin is created as a successor to him if Ragnarök happens.. And kept taking care of Irminsul

Yeah very wild theory i know

  16. I do enjoy the deep look in the lore with deconstructing the literary works, and history, but I wonder if players also find enjoyment in operating all the given lore in the game alone and put the pieces together since it seems that Hoyo story department likes to mix up the myths from different cultures 🧩

  17. Little correction, Charlemagne, Chlothar I and Charibert I were not French kings as you claimed in two videos now. France didn't exist at that point in time and the Franks(≠French) where a Germanic tribe and kingdom.
After Charlemagne's death his son ruled the Frankish Kingdom(≠France) and after his death the kingdom was split into three parts. Two of the three parts (West Francia) would later in history become what today is France and the third part (East Francia) would later become what today is Germany.

  18. Nice video, I like your thoughts and theorie. While I agree a lot of things make sense, my issue with the sinner/king Deshret link is that Deshret's rebellion was mostly ideological. He didn't agree with the current system and wanted to follow another path but not by hostile means. His primal constructs are architects, they were made to build, not to fight wars. His goal was to create a paradise (like an dream) on earth where humanity would rule, not to fight gods in heaven. The current path of Khaenriah doesn't match his vision in this sense. Now, maybe there was a change of heart after he 'died'. There are theories that instead of dying, he fell in the Abyss and its corruption, thus turned more extreme than he originally was.

  19. Sumeru seems to be depicting the ancient Kashmir,
which was pretty much the centre of knowledge since many sages came there for their research and became 'pandits' in their arts.
Being a Hindu/Islam region ,there is not any great emphasis in blasphemy like in Christianity in these . So considering Deshret a "sinner" is kinda lame
but also yk game was made by a chinese company and you are just referencing the references that they might have referenced to . Since there is so much god bs in this game it's not like I can complain about it.
good video overall just something I wanted to pinpoint

  20. Another point I forgot, "samiel" is actually a kind of strong, dusty wind found in Arabian deserts (also called simoom). I think the wall of Samiel is a reference to that type of wind, not a person/figure, as the purpose of the wall is to block sandstorm.

  21. Is there any theories about how celestia might be the grown up version of the abyss twin in another samsara? I know it's kinda cliche but it would explain why the abyss twin is not consider a descendent because the first descendent is celestia and it would just be a repeat count. Wasn't at game's first design, Aether was consider the default traveller thus it would make sense Lumine grow up to be celestia? Maybe during celestia's samsara in Tevet the traveller died thus when she encounter the traveller and herself in another samsara she could not wipe out the twin (because it would be paradox) and send paimon by the traveller's side to accompany and protect the traveller because her own twin had died. Or maybe she trapped the traveller because her twin died during the event of her cataclysm. @Ashikai

  22. I bet you anything that the Genesis Pearl from the Gnostic Chorus is hiding behind Kaeya's eyepatch, and is what has been keeping him from being cursed as a descendant of Khaenriah. Like some kind of permanent Bija that cleanses the corruption. As an Alberich, it would likely be something that was passed down to him as some kind of inheritance/birthright. Perhaps, it could have even been stolen by his father in a last-ditch effort to protect his son. As prophecized by Mona, he will one day need to choose between Mondstadt and the Abyss, perhaps having to sacrifice the pearl in the process.

Powerful pearls or pearls acting as the gateway to other worlds is a common trope in some kinds of fantasy anime. (Inuyasha and Yashahime for example).
