So I went around Inazuma before and after the civil war and talked with every NPC, read every notice and came up with this video which summarizes all of Inazuma’s changes during this time. It is interesting to see these extremely small details about the game’s world and the efforts mihoyo put in to make it as realistic as possible. I hope you enjoy the video as much as I had fun collecting all of this info was 😀

How Inazuma Changed After The War
Inazuma Before And After The War
source
special mentions to kazari
can someone tell me where 1:56 is from ?? ive never seen that scene before
The biggest eyesore for me was how honestly rag tag and oddly incompetent the resistance was,
And Ayaka never even had a major part besides constantly bringing up issues with the other commissions but not really showing herself in combat.
But Kokomi just seemed really incredibly naive and not that flawless strategist and “general” she was shown to be,
Most of the time it just felt like Gorou was doing the menial labor and trying to glue everything up
Not mention they were pushed to incredibly far back into their territory before Baal even showed up.
It’s funny cause they have the skills or titles like Flawless strategist or Forward onto victory but seemingly have been on losing streaks and barely standing a chance until help arrives.
And not to mention that section of the chapter that made Kokomi look like a fool,
The whole accepting mysterious resources from an unknown group.
She honestly looked like a priestess that was just trying to playing general as opposed to a learning captain that was actively learning or being cautious.
The last segments of Inazuma really just felt heavily rushed, or badly written, and/or just made no sense.
I think even the scaramouche part about the whole the number meant the strength/ prestige of the Harbinger but Childe said something else back in Liyue (It was either or, can’t recall who said what)
And it all just contradicted itself, but so far Inazuma had all its potential just rushed through and written in a rush.
Inazuma is in such a bad spot lore wise, yet Ei is treated like she was always the victim and got her dumb "redemption arc" when she's still doing nothing
I don't like the Raiden Shogun, neither Ei. I mean, I understand her reasons and what she desires, but seems like everybody forgot what she has actually done to her own nation. I think it's kinda unrealistic to see how inazuman people still worship and loves her despite the pain she brought to many, many people. The vision hunt decree is gone, but the really high taxes, the poorness and the injustice is still there. The dead people won't come back.
I really want to see a lot more of process and maybe lore in the next world quests, instead of some random date with the Archon.
(Also, English isn't my native language, so I apologize if I made a mistake with the grammar and that kind of stuff)
One thing that pisses me off is the lack of consequences or regret of Raiden Shogun for what she did. It's like seeing the Inazumas just turning a blind eye to the elephant in the room. Not to mention the story is just not fleshed out well
Was hoping to gut Raiden Shogun like fish or get a choice at least (hate fascists)
Wish you mentioned Tsurumi island, the child who's looking for his mom after making us give him crystal marrow, Raiden also being responsible and not held accountable for allowing the fatui to commit their crimes in Inazuma. It was not just the Kujou clan because Ei admits to traveler and Yae that she knew about what the fatui were doing. She is pure scum and did not receive any consequences for her actions. Inazuma's archon quest was a massive disappointment.
Problem #1: Blurry in world building. Like suddenly people don't fight anymore just because Shogun said that? Don't joke, when friends and comrades have fallen, there is no longer an ideal, we fight to bathe in the blood of the enemy.
Problem #2: Signora's death and inconsistency in plot development, the villain with the deepest ties to Inazuma, having both achieved Gnosis and betrayed the Fatui organization (Scaramouche), appeared only to say a few sentence? Signora shows up in only 3 cutscenes throughout the entire game and suddenly dies just so we have a weekly boss?
Problem #3: Instead of letting Beelzebub see the consequences of her decisions (the dead ones). It turned into a shopping spree and a light novel review?
I got attacked in discord for saying inazuma is boring and alien ish 💀
Inazuma definitely is my least favorite region so far. So many bad things happened with the little to no justice or pay off. It's just a pretty nation with way too many internal problems.
1.10 , where is that, I kinda want to visit that place myself too :3
Fuck the shogunate and sangonomiya, we travelers are the ones who stopped thunderstorms in Yashiori island, defeated the fatui along with treating the mikaji furnace, cleansed the sacred sakura, stopped thunderstorms in seirei, uncovered the mystery of tsurumi and what not!
After we get the omni ubiquity net, I'm going to capture Kazuha's dead friend's cat and provide new comfy home
I hate Raiden, she's a dictator and she's way worse than Decarabian who was killed for like a third of Raiden's crimes. If this game was well written, she would have been killed and replaced by Ayato or Yae or Kokomi (though the latter option would have streched Inazuma's story too much).
People really saw these contradictions in Ei and wholeheartedly believed this made her a "complex and interesting character." No, that's what you would say about characters like Kaeya or Ningguang. Ei is both unlikeable and badly written. Mihoyo really hyped up the Inazuman arc only to have it crash and burn bc Ei HAD to be a waifu.
Just say you're a simp for Ei and go. I love Childe, but I'm not going to be writing essays about how he's actually a great character.
I think what irks me about Ei compared to the other archons is that she insists in being the sole decision maker in Inazuma but continuously makes bad decisions.
Venti might be an 'absent' archon, but all of the political power and decision making is left to his people, and this allows Mondstadt to be self sufficient.
Zhongli used to have a monopoly in Liyue's politic during the archon war but his decisions result in the benefit of his nation. Afterwards he slowly relinquishes control to the tianquan and provides yearly guidance until he retires.
But Ei is still the sole decision maker in Inazuma till this day, and she continuously makes neglectful decisions. Her people couldn't be self sufficient because they fear making decisions without her notice (eg. Tenryou comission couldn't pinpoint a new leader because they haven't receive her approval), but almost all of her decision are either uninformed, late, or made by a fucking robot.
I skipped Ei’s banner because of my frustration with how her story was handled. And the insistence on making her ‘ignorant’ doesn’t paint her in a better light, it flips it from competent tyranny to outright incompetent leadership. Both of which, imo, should disqualify her from being a beloved leader narratively. But gotta get that waifu sale I guess.
Mihoyo really wrote themselves into a corner when it came to the raiden shogun. On one hand they wanted a cool story with an evil tyrant who will be overthrown, but on the other hand she's super attractive and we gotta make her a waifu, look she can pull a sword out of her boobs isn't that waifu material? Ya'll really tryng to defend her by saying the fatui was behind all of it as if you guys wouldn't empty your wallets if signora was playable
Out of all the regions so far I personally like mondstat the best, their everyone gives you credit for what you've done and mostly everyone's friendly. I even remember most of the npcs names there. It feels like a home city
Inazuma was a hell hole even though its the 3rd region that we got still its fun
i feel like as a long time player now, genshin suffers alot from lack of story quests. a game with such an open world should have multiple different storyline quests except the only way we can access it is when a new character comes out. for the whole month of when a new a character is released you get one story story quest for them that lasts like 1 hour. theres just so much wasted potential so much wasted backstory that we could be getting. but with that said it would be harder on new players, idk i just feel like more could be done
as soon as the hunt was lifted everybody just , forgot about everything the government put them through😭😭
I feel like most people don't realize this because there is also a lot of people who just play genshin impact for the gameplay but are not heavily invested on the story itself
Thanks for filling the gap of the aftermath. I hope the Genshin team sees this and learn what they are missing in the archon story.
I imagine what happened if hutao in inazuma?
I honestly wish that the Shogun faced more consequences for her actions, sad backstory or no. She should've stepped down as the ruler of Inazuma, with a provisional government set up by the Yashiro Commission (headed by the Kamisato clan, naturally). Not only would it make sense, it'd be a lot more interesting. We'd get to see how Ayaka handles politics. Hell, this could have been her true intention all along; use the traveler and the resistance to overthrow the Shogun and elevate the Kamisato clan's power and prestige. It'd be fun to see a character with ulterior motives beyond "helping the common folk". Even if she is still good-hearted, I would've liked if she had a political agenda to accomplish; in her eyes, they could help more people if they were the ones in control.
Damn, thinking about that makes me want to write a fanfic retelling of the entire archon quest. Introduce political intrigue, the horrors of war, ulterior motives, struggles of morality, character development and heart-wrenching deaths.
i feel the Inazuman lore was very much rushed
I don’t understand why the traveller was so comfortable being a tour guide and retail therapist for Ei without batting an eyelash, yet has no qualms expressing her dislike for childe.
Video like this makes me wish more game developer would replicate the "Fallout New Vegas-type" endings where it tells the end of stories from various peoples you've encountered throughout your journey and how the consequences you made at the end game affects them
Although inazuma is inspired from japan, the law is almost the same as north korea
Yup
EI is definitely faaar from being good person and even farther from being responsible good lord, even Venti who is God of irresponsibility is far more competent archon than Ei. Under Ei's rule, probably 10x more people have died than venti's rule. But some brainless Simping idiots spout some bulshit limke " Raiden shogun is the best written character and good leader because she is now good person in the end of the cutscene "
Inazuma is based on warring states or Japan and the shogunate Era, no wonder the conditions would be awful for those with little to no wealth or caught in between the factions.
