Well, I have a theory but it can sounds a bit outlandish…
Remember, the archon war was pure chaos, and gods fought for their own desire of getting the archon title and everything that goes with it (or whatever personnal reason they had), many perished, or still live with trauma and/or karma, but Karma does not seem to affect gods (correct me if I'm wrong). That gnosis may be the representation of the blood on their hands, the representation of what they were capable of for a land and power, it's like the materialisation of karma (at least this one seems to bring more powers)

From what I understand when Ei first put the electro gnosis inside of Scaramouche the reason why he had started crying was starting to experience all of the grief that Ei was going through herself since she had just lost her sister because of the war 500 years ago. As such it would make sense for her to give her gnosis to Yae Miko cause in order for one to use it to its fullest it has to become fully integrated with them. If anyone has played Honkai Impact 3rd then can definitely see the connection between herrscher cores and gnosis for how they work plus using them to their fullest despite being 2 completly different things. But like I said the reason why she Yae Miko was because she was the only one she could to hold onto it but not use it. If anything Ei wouldn't want anyone else go through what she went through. Furthermore it would explain why when Scaramouche reobtains the electro gnosis that it would be described as a cursed object cause not only was most of the electo archon's power sealed away in it but also most of her grief thats been in there for about 500 years. This would also explains why Venti is somewhat relieved and not concerned that his gnosis was taken and why Zhongli simply gave it up cause for them cause they are no longer burdened with what's been troubling them for being the 2 archons that have lived the longest.

Yae miko or I think it was her outwardly states that the fatui altered him. Which means he was probably experimented on by the fatui.
Given what mihoyo has done in honkai, I'm afraid it may be that Ei will be killed by scaramouche while they fight to take away his gnosis so that he won't die.
