The skill description for Thoma's E says nothing about the shield itself applying pyro, so it's not quite like Xingqiu's orbiting Rain Swords that can re-apply hydro to an enemy every ~2 sec; Thoma's pyro application with his E only happens on skill activation.
Still pulling for him though, because his shield seems to be good, and also husbando

I use mainly five stars in all my team comps and working on c6 cons for all of them. Building four star units is literally a waste for me but I guess f2p has budget pyro zhongli now so good for you.
Imagine him in my team instead of diona so I can use diona on my other team
My team will be Hu tao, Xingqiu, Thoma, whoever like raiden or venti or ayaka
Thoma also buffs pyro damage for party so hu tao will be great

It’s funny because I have been planning a team that consist of Ayaka, Childe (who I will get!), Thoma and Jean since I heard rumors a month ago. I didn’t realize they might actually work, but I’ll have to wait and see when he is officially out. 😅

A lot of people say that he will be a good support but what I think from looking at him is that he might not be as great as everyone might think. Let me elaborate, most cryo and hydro DPS characters in the game have extremely fast elemental applications for example Ayaka. What will happen is that Ayaka will end up supporting Thoma and he will proc melt instead of Ayaka reverse melt and the same goes for Tartag. Thoma won't be able to keep up with the speed of those characters. This is just my opinion and it could be wrong, we will know once he cums out.

In case you guys don't know, Cryo Rosaria can melt both hits of her E and all ticks of her burst, plus her charged attacks with chonghyun, so if Tohma applies pyro faster than xiangling, Rosaria is about to melt all of her hits, I can't wait for him, I hope they synergize how I'm predicting
